I think it didn't jam. The gun was either modded or designed to be single shot like a bolt action rifle. These are exceptionally rare (because they are bad for self defense) BUT they are much more quiet than a self-load semi auto because the chamber remains shut during the firing, so all the sound goes through the muzzle. And, it has the added bonus of not ejecting the spent casings automatically which may have finger prints on them.
The casings that the shooter did leave probably were deliberately cleaned or never even held by hand and specifically brought to the scene to be left there.

Yeah I was wondering if the inscriptions could also be put there to throw off the police. The dude seems pretty clever.
Like, maybe it was over a debt or something, and the killer decided to make it look like a hit by a crazed customer. Just a possibility.
