I don’t know much about the firearm he was using, but I’ve heard conflicting reports that the weapon was some type of bolt action pistol and the gun didn’t jam, but I wouldn’t know for sure. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an individual action or a group/government/crime hit job.
Possibly, but there may not be enough energy to reliably unlock the barrel and you'd have to come up with a spring on your own. No manufacturer or aftermarket vendor would sell one since it'd risk damaging the gun if you fired full power loads through it with a super weak spring.

Shooting subsonic ammo with a suppressor requires to manually cycle, this is most likely what happened.

I've heard that rumor, but I highly doubt it. It looks like a jammed semi-auto.
