I got one in February. It was at the world's largest McDonald's. That was an amazing place.

Zima actually tasted quite awful. What if we mixed it with Crystal Pepsi?

Modern audience is dead, they don't NEED to be your audience anymore..

Honestly? They're too busy starting twitter fights and watching 5 second tiktok brainrot for something like this.

Expecting the "Modern audience" to sit down and watch something for more than half an hour straight is incredibly optimistic.

Anyone who cares about long form content enough to sit down and watch something like this, cares enough to identify shit storytelling.

Why are 900k households watching this crap? This numbers are still better then I would expect.

Normies who click play because new LOTR content and they just have to have an opinion on it

One of my friends is very intelligent but every time he tells me "____ is so stupid!" I just have to shake my head. Ultimately it doesn't seem like he cares about wasting a couple hours of free time here and there.

I have smart friends that refuse to believe Disney Star Wars is bad despite being able to tell you why it is bad. Even they did not watch this crap

I remember how hard it was to admit The Phantom Menace was shit. Fortunately that ripped the band aid off and left no fucks to give about Disney Wars.

Yeah if you go to Amazon they are spamming every ad space with this show. Two clicks later and you're watching the first episode. I will admit the LOTR grrlboss ad is a little easier on the eyes than when they were spamming the Woman King ads, not that I'd watch either. Not a fan of doing my shopping while some angry masculine black woman is yelling at me through a picture

To put that in perspective the series (s01e01) debuted at 25 million single day views.

Amazon is spending a billion to make the show. Say a modest estimate of 150 million for 8 episodes for season 2 it cost amazon approx 20 bucks per view for this episode.

That number goes down overtime of course but the goal is to get people to subscribe to prime but unlike other streaming platforms prime provides other services that cost money to operate, not to mention those who sub a month or two just to watch or those who wait after the season ends to binge and cancel.

It's a loser, the only winner is the cult of the left putting out another piece of their ideological shit out there for future eyeballs to indoctrinate the children television babysits.

those who sub a month or two just to watch or those who wait after the season ends to binge and cancel.

This is me with all streaming services. I subscribe for one month out of the year and catch up on new stuff that's worth watching. Then I cancel. Most of the time I get the month free because because they're desperate.

I almost feel bad for them. Almost.

I mean, at least you paid. I wouldn't feel bad, I do the same but with those free trials from paramount and discounted streaming deals but I stopped doing that a while back because nothing new is worth watching anymore.

Last time I got paramount plus for free I spent that month watching the Love Boat lol

A guy I know said he's watching it. The guy I know pretty much just smokes weed and cooks meals. Doesn't do anything else so watching brain-dead TV while high works I guess.

Women ain't watching this. 99% of women watch cooking shows, home remodeling shows, and celebrity gossip. There are more troons watching this than women.

The problem is the impression that they're doing this "for the audience" and failing. They're doing this to tarnish and overtake Tolkien for the generations to come. The more slop they put out, the more the original books and movie trilogy get muddied, until there is no fond memory of a once treasured saga. Just The Message.

They're succeeding admirably and many miss the actual purpose. Just ask that English museum showcasing black medieval knights and kings. They know it's ridiculous. We know it's ridiculous. The generations to come will not know any better.

Are they looking for old copies of the original books?

The only ones still watching this show would eagerly burn any original copies they come across so that only "modern" versions could exist.

I bought a complete set of the Lord of the Rings + the Hobbit from a used bookstore recently. They were printed in the 70's, still had the box the four books slide into, though the foil decals are peeling. Only cost me $15 because there was a big promo sale.

▲ 3 ▼
– Isolated_Patriot 3 points 1 year ago +3 / -0

I'd call that a score. I have books from disparate sets and was lucky to get them $5 each.

I've had my eye out for a deal on the Chronicles of Narnia from before they changed the book order, and have had no luck. I have a single book complete set, and a 90s-ish box set with the new "chronological" order, but finding an older box set is a bitch.

I suppose I should mention that it was a set of paperbacks. Still a good deal, I'd say.

I have a list of books that I always look for in 2nd hand book shops. Top of my list is the original Agatha Christie Ten Little Niggers. But there are some niches out there where you can flip books for a profit - for example. Beatrix Potter

Years ago at the same bookstore I remember seeing one of the Dr. Seuss books with the big lip african tribals. It was in a glass display case and was priced at like $70. Also in that case was a copy of Madonna's 'Sex' book and an old leatherbound edition of Mein Kamph. They don't have anything like that anymore...

I actually 'read' (well, looked at) Madonna's Sex book when it first came out. There was a copy in a shop and I knew the owner, so he let me take it out of its packet - and by today's standards its tame as fuck.

By today's standards Hustler is tame. Also, wasn't her book at least on par with the standards of the time? Like wasn't it just like a Playboy photo shoot, glorified because it was in a limited edition hardcover album instead of a magazine available at every 7-11?

Considering the string of recent media flops, the modern audience barely exists. In the past, these DIE vanity project were carried forward by the inertia of the big name IPs they bastardized, the affirmative noise of the media, and the weight/ignorance of the normie audience.

However, the normies are now refusing to eat the slop, and the faithful are too few to make up the difference. Not even the most coordinated marketing campaigns with social media shaming support move the needle anymore.

If only this also applied to presidential elections.

The position I've heard posited recently is that the "Modern Audience" is currently being created. It's the next generation, who will have been raised while completely submerged in all of this vile filth and will see it as completely normal. Thus the forces of evil will claim their cultural victory by the upcoming generations just viewing all of this woke nonsense as a mundane fact of life rather than the radical departure that it is.

TL;DR: Don't gloat because the kids see this stuff as completely normal.

My kids are Gen Z - and they watch ZERO TV. They mostly play online gaming and TTRPG. If they do watch content it's a Youtube video related to a game they play

And what of Gen Alpha, those who were born in the midst of peak wokeness and have literally never known anything else? They just need to keep the propaganda rolling for a bit longer and it'll have taken root completely in an entire generation.
