If Harris wins, Elon will be arrested and jailed. They will pick some California or New York district with a Democrat-packed court, make some shit up, get him off the board, and take away his company.
s the latest twist in a clash between the world’s richest man and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who is spearheading efforts to combat fake news and hate speech in Brazil.
What a surprise that Bloomberg would portray his tyrannical actions that way /s
The Brazilian government stands to lose more by blocking it than X stands to lose. Maybe not financially, but as an eye opener to the people. Then you just see if the people there will do anything about it or not.
Legal gun ownership is not common among civilians. Brazil does have a massive number of LEOs who do carry guns off duty (hence all the "off duty Brazilian cop shoots robber" videos).
Legal guns are prohibitively expensive for the average Joe, and there are also relatively complicated legal hurdles to be dealt with if you want to purchase one. Also, there are many restrictions on what guns and calibers you can obtain (.22 LR for rifled long guns, 12Ga for smoothbore, and .38 spl / .380 ACP for handguns).
Bolsonaro had made it easier to purchase them legally and also lifted the caliber restrictions, but I think Lula has rolled back every single change that was made regarding this subject.
TL/DR: No, most Brazilian civilians don't have guns.
It's hard to find the ownership rate, but the article said 3 million guns in private hands out of 203 million people -- so not a high rate. Another thing said 800,000 gun owners.
Oh no - now he won’t have access to the lucrative Brazilian market /s
My company tries to do business in Brazil, and by and large it’s a huge waste of time and effort, because of burdensome commercial regulations and the fact that disposable incomes are so low that we can’t charge viable prices for our products.
Even though the business model is a little different for Twitter, I’m guessing this would still be addition by subtraction from a purely commercial standpoint for Elon, given how pointless it is for first-world businesses to try to make money in Brazil. Wake me up when Twitter gets blocked in someplace other than a second-world shithole whose greatest contribution to society is pussy waxing.
So VPN use will go through the roof in Brazil as they openly steal power, you think they won't skirt the rules to use Twitter?
As for Elon, there's zero incentive to play by the commie government of Brazil's rules, when he can simply pull out and deny them any money from his businesses and see who lasts longer.
It's likely they'll go down the same road the UK is expected to go shortly and just outright ban VPN's. Payment processors won't touch the paid VPN providers who won't operate in Brazil if they aren't getting paid. As for crypto payments for VPN service, at some point you'll need to turn fiat currency into crypto and they'll likely target that too.
Damn, I was wrong. It happened. Alexandre Dickhead banned Twitter and every VPN in the Apple store and play store. Also instituted a 50k BRL fine to those who use VPNs
So just asking theoretically. Is it perfectly legal to hire an independent mercenary squad to go fuck with the Brazilian government until they shut the fuck up?
If they do it sounds like Elon should make a humanitarian gesture and air drop a few thousand StarLink Mini kits to be used as neighborhood wifi routers.
The US government should be defending Elon like the hero he is

The US government is mad they didn’t think of this first.

Last time the Brazilians protested the government responded by threatening to have their version of social services take the protesters' kids away
I assume they don’t have guns there.
Oh they have lots of guns. At least their criminals do. City of God does a great job of showing what a wonderful place it is.
Hard to say no when a political party is the military. Even after the occupation in Argentina they have major sway.
These countries.. dont hear much about mass shootings, eh?

They've already begun taking down the most popular VPNs in the Apple store

I didn't realize anyone outside of the US and maybe Europe used Apple.
So X is going to be blocked in Brazil then?
Rumor has it that it will be taken down in the next 24-48 hours. But Alexandre has threatened that before and backed down.
Each day that passes puts me more firmly in the "nothing ever happens camp".
I think nothing will happen, but just in case,. I've downloaded a VPN for my phone before they block them from the Apple and Android stores.
Damn, I was wrong. It happened. Alexandre Dickhead banned Twitter and every VPN in the Apple store and play store. Also instituted a 50k BRL fine to those who use VPNs
He should appoint Lula so they can arrest themselves.
So just asking theoretically. Is it perfectly legal to hire an independent mercenary squad to go fuck with the Brazilian government until they shut the fuck up?
Dude, wtf are you saying? No!
....you pay the CIA with with cocaine or money from cocaine for South American regime change, jees outsourcing people's jobs! /s
Maybe Elon should get into the banana growing business.
Y'know. For no reason at all.
Watch the Brazilian people want their access to X and the government U-turn on the whole thing.
If they do it sounds like Elon should make a humanitarian gesture and air drop a few thousand StarLink Mini kits to be used as neighborhood wifi routers.
If Elon air dropped a bunch of StarLink Mini kits they'd be promptly collected by armed gangsters, and then sold for profit.
Does the Brazilian government know that is what the CCP does? lmao
he should blank the page out in brazil with a picture of the judge's face and his address.
Call their bluff and note exactly why it's not being shown there.
