Metro put out an article with the racist headline "Sorry straight white men, Doctor Who was never made for you". Shockingly, this didn't go over well with the fans, and the backlash was so severe it appears Metro has ended up deleting their entire Twitter/X account in response. https://twitter.com/MetroUK
And the writer of that article protected her account.
I am thinking they destroyed their brand worse than Star Wars
The only reason I don't think this is true is they aren't trying to do 12 spinoffs yet.
Good point
Well they have made themselves 12 new Doctors thanks to BiGeneration. Give them time.
I haven't watched it in around 4 years, so I have no idea. I liked the one actor (male) recently too, but I figured his run would be cucked by writing and ruin it for me.
If you mean Capaldi, they did him real dirty. He's a great actor, and he deserved better.
Yeah, that's the one. I think he'd have been a great doctor... With better writing.
His last season I told my wife there were only three episodes, and the others didn't exist.
o they r
My family was huge Doctor Who nerds. As in my grandparents helped get classic Doctor Who episodes digitized because they had recorded them on tape way back when. They toughed out 11th Doctor but gave up by the 12th's poor writing and BBC announced they were going to double down on keeping the writer and pulled out "look a female Doctor" crap.
Some of my first memories are my parents watching Dr Who on PBS with Tom Baker. I still need to watch all the classic Who. I watched until second season of Capaldi. I tried giving Jodi a chance but quickly stopped caring. I heard what Timeless Children did and that solidified my decision to stop watching and new Dr Who
Good luck fren, a good chunk of the old series was lost when the BBC forgot who was supposed to be archiving it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who_missing_episodes
I actually gave up when I realized the series was effectively incomplete...too autistic to jump around like that...
Still, enjoy what there is. The series was pretty good from what I saw.
I think everything from Tom Baker (and maybe even almost all of Pertwee) is in existence, so it’s not too bad if you stick to that era on.
Doesn’t mean it’s all good, necessarily, but from the late 60s through to the early 80s, it has a pretty good, intact run…
I know on Tubi and Pluto they have a lot of the old episodes but I have heard a lot was lost which sucks
There's been active efforts to track them down, and people have donated a lot of old episodes when they found them, but yeah, the current state is pretty bad.
Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky int he future, and some collector will have a shitton of the lost episodes, or not. either way, enjoy what we have, I suppose.
Sorry if I came off like a downer.
Bwhahaha, a media site deleted their WHOLE twitter account thanks to Doctor Who fans.
Where they also Helldivers as that would be icing on the cake!
I loved how the BBC for decades thought another show would beat it. Then they tried to force it to have their politics and it failed. This was the 80's...
When it comes to fandom insanity Doctor Who is one third of the big names that make up SuperWhoLock: Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock. This is one of the most retarded picks to ever try and write any kind of hitpiece against, woke or not. The writer just torched her entire career with this.
If Moffat wrote for Supernatural...
Non-Whites ruin every White thing.
They really do. Once something goes < 65% white it is in danger of collapsing at any moment.
Poor Asyia Iftikhar, who would have thought her story spawning a thread here earlier would have pulled down a huge UK media Twitter/X account?
Eyebrows. And the other work listed there is par for the course.
The Hearst Talent Scholarship doesn't seem like something I'd still be celebrating 3 years later unless it wasn't tied into some sort of deal.
Perhaps this is all part of a larger scheme to get more attention.
It's possible that X pulled the feed down instead of MetroUK for a gross infringement of the terms of service in which case she has overstepped her mark.
Ifthikar means she’s a Paki, if anyone is curious…
Old wealthy Northern Paki (Islamabad region) surname. With military connections.
I used to know one very well.
Strange guy.
Can you imagine anyone attacking another culture like this?
“Sorry straight Pakistani men, The Quran was never made for you”
They would indeed say something just like that, however they probably know that they wouldn’t live much longer after doing so, lol…
obvs this is their favorite target, however they also snipe at each other.
Any archive of the backlash/replies they were getting?
Unfortunately i don't have that but you can see some replies by searching their names on twitter: https://twitter.com/search?q=%40MetroUK&src=typed_query
Looks like the "journalist" that wrote the article is in twatter witless protection as well.
I've never understood getting so panicked about people yelling at you on twitter that you protect or even more hilarious bah-lete your account.
Leftists can dish it out, but they can’t take it.
To be honest I haven't watched doctor who since the tom baker era that ended in the early 80s. So I can't say I've been a fan for a long time. Still, they earned that backlash. You can't just antagonize forever and expect them to go "aww shucks you got us" as a response. Of course you're gonna piss them off.
It'd be like trying to kill an identity. ... wait, I'm getting Aug 2014 flashbacks. That didn't work out either.
Rest in piss, journofags
Sounds unfair to the piss.
MetroUK has been woke trash for a very long time. It's a case of the trash taking itself out.
It's like madlibs.
Sry queer blk queenz, Frosted Flakes was never made for you.
On twitter you can simply rename your account to disappear. They may have done that.
