because it's two clicks and once you have an account it's one click.
And you need it for group gaming with modern people who can only use gay faggot discord.
edit: my mistake I did a quick check with some random invite, it doesn't have google or facebook sign in so yeah it's multiple clicks but once you have an account it's one click. Kinda surprised it doesn't use google sign in (whatever that's called)
Because gay faggot Discord is arguably as dated and most people still use it because it's popular. I did try Matrix (pretty good alternative) but it seems unlikely that that will ever become popular in the forseeable future.
Even more so, why would you be on the Discord for something with that many targets on its back. So you can post more epic maymays for people to heckin' sticker?
Its a Steam group that tells you if a game was consulted on. What fucking purpose did the discord serve besides parasocialism and hugboxing?
That's a fair point. I got no rebuttal for it other than something about it being a Discord specifically makes it feel far more "intimate" and prone to odd relationships.
That's a you problem. Discord is just IRC (+ZNC) duct taped to Vent. Nothing is more or less "intimate" about it than platforms we've had for decades. Not that there weren't plenty of odd relationships on IRC.
The significant exception is persistent identity, which I could do without and is the root cause of why modern social platforms are such shit. But on the whole, it really isn't anything new. Unless you actually care about trivial shit like emote reactions.
So it is in fact a significantly different thing than those others and this singular reasoning is in fact exactly what makes it more "intimate" than those others.
every discord replacer software i've tried, privacy-oriented or not, has had absolute garbage to the power of sixteen as its UI. "why does everyone use discord?" has the same answer as "why does everyone use windows?" - the alternatives SUCK.
I can understand it for games that rely heavily on grouping, or an indevelopment project that needs lots of feedback.
Everything else just seems to exist because "it has to have one" and they always end up being a cesspit of degeneracy and grooming, regardless of what the "main topic" is (even if its antithetical to such actions).
I'm sure random guys on a massive discord are providing considerably value and usefulness in such a campaign.
After all, crowdsourcing outrage always ends up with the most accurate and useful information. Never lynch mobbing and virtue signals to prove you are the MOST anti-woke.
Because—like GG1–GG2 is a case of people that don’t realize how bad things are catching hold of one tendril of the Kraken without realizing there’s a whole beast attached. Let’s hope that lots of them do see more of what’s going on, I guess.
I just don't understand the ignorance (or stupidity) of using a service owned and staffed by woke ponces and not expecting stuff like this to happen.
Our group of goofy gamers use a selfhosted nextcloud instance with Nextcloud Talk. All our files, chats and video conferences encrypted and on our server.
Phishing is also a distinct possibility. Lot of normies are too retarded to check what URLs they're actually following and most are too retarded to understand basic internet security.
I've had to take IT internet security training recently. Apparently, "Hello, I am the password inspector, please email me your password" is a big enough issue that actually works that they needed a half hour presentation on that alone. No hacks, no cracks, no phishing, just utter morons.
Discord is a pretty notorious target for it's absolute dumpster fire of a security model.
Not sure if it's still the case, but not only does the application just wrap a web browser to a specific "internal" website, but it stores your authentication token in it. Clicking a malicious link (or a good link that has itself has its server silently hacked, or is serving a malicious ad) could log that token and they'll have the keys to the kingdom because there is literally nothing that signs it to your device.
My money is on activist Discord employees 'leaking' account info to the right degenerate.
Why even go that far? Discord staff could have easily done this themselves.
they are cowardly despite being immune from consequence
Plausible deniability.
"There are no bad tactics. Only bad targets."
Cause most modern people dont use irc
because it's two clicks and once you have an account it's one click.

You use Google don't you? An app run by countless gay faggots...
Startpage or bust >:)
Because gay faggot Discord is arguably as dated and most people still use it because it's popular. I did try Matrix (pretty good alternative) but it seems unlikely that that will ever become popular in the forseeable future.
It's how you find people to game with, join the games discord and you have access to player chats and can join leave parties you like or dislike.
It's a good way to find like minded people in gaming so you don't have to censor yourself.
Except Discord is run by gay faggots and they will absolutely ban you for wrongthink.

So is google, Facebook, and all other apps you use.
Don't be an idiot, u use gay faggot apps all the time...
Even more so, why would you be on the Discord for something with that many targets on its back. So you can post more epic maymays for people to heckin' sticker?

-he says, from the kia splinter group 'not'reddit
Same as we were doing on reddit dude, discussing the group and cause that formed after 5 guys n fries

Appreciate you clearing that up for me.
The "only pretending to be retarded" routine is wearing thin.
There is no pretend. I said it felt more intimate, you provided the reason (persistent identity) in better words for me.
Sarcasm isn't faking retardation, its poking fun at you for admitting my point was valid while trying to explain that it wasn't.
You would be better off using the .wins to talk about these things.
I do in fact use this place as my shitpost central, because /b/ just hasn't been the same in years once the porn spammers took over.
I agree. Look how propagandized T_D gets, for example. It's still light years ahead of Discord though. Discord is troon central.
This post itself is the best rebuttal. Don't use discord.

Discord is the new Facebook, I think. Sucking ass will not prevent takeover.
Crowdsourcing the effort to identify all these consultancy firms and keep track of their credits without making one guy do all the legwork?
I'm sure random guys on a massive discord are providing considerably value and usefulness in such a campaign.

Cuz normies can't into 5m of research.

Also revolt as you can self host it for free.
Because it reaches the most people you dumbass.
Or are you still chatting on ICQ?
Because—like GG1–GG2 is a case of people that don’t realize how bad things are catching hold of one tendril of the Kraken without realizing there’s a whole beast attached. Let’s hope that lots of them do see more of what’s going on, I guess.
Just casual cyber terrorism from the alphabet crowd. Must be a day that ends in y.
It seemed pretty clear from the start that the guy running this campaign wasn't remotely up to the challenge of handling tranny terrorism.
Good grief.
Perceived convenience is a thing. Is there a free version of NextCloud talk?
It's open source. It's all free if you self host.
This is why I never join discord groups.
This either turns out that "password" isn't a password or we're looking at Russian/Chinese hacking of the US election by Sweet Baby Inc.
Ball's in your court Leftards!
STOP USING DISCORD
You mean guessed your shitty password.

Remember the old experiment where people would give the interviewer their password for whatever in exchange for a candy bar? Not much has changed.
