In the US it's a felony to deposit/withdraw smaller amounts with the intent to evade the reporting requirements. Given that law, even transactions under the limit could be seen as suspicious, especially if they all happened in a short period of time.
So let the bank generate a SAR and waste some FinCen analyst's time. It's still none of their business why I want cash and I've never heard of any US bank requiring explanations for withdrawals. This isn't comparable.
So what are they going to do then when he closes his account? Deny him his funds? Does the Canadian government require a 60 day cool off period to get his cash?
If you watch the video, this is specifically why he is only trying to withdraw under the limit, which would appear to be C$3000. She doesn't justify why she can't do it - just "Not today".
I have no idea why she decided to fuck with him, but I don't think it's because of the rule you specify there...
No it isn't. Over $10,000 the bank generates a CTR (currency transaction report) and sends it to FinCEN. You don't have to explain anything to any teller or anyone else. Their computer system does this automatically without the customer's involvement.
Close enough to be “Very soon, but also not”, while also given the illusion of “That’s next decade, so I don’t have to worry about it right now”, I suspect…
Honestly, I think (young) people also underestimate quite how fast a time length like that goes by.
The last four years have absolutely flown, for me, and that’s despite my rarely “having fun”, and largely hating most of it…
So it must be even more dramatic, I imagine, for people whose lives are a bit more… “On track”.
Honestly I just think it's because that's the "consensus" and there no actual thought behind it, someone just picked it and everyone jumped on the bandwagon to seem smart because that's what every other "smart" person was going.
Tell them you need the money for a sex change. Any other questions tell her she is transphobic and you want to see her CEO also you’re posting it to pReddit.
Of course it's a first-gen Chinese immigrant as the bank teller, too. Of course it is...
Grow up in a literal authoritarian regime? Of course you're gonna be more than happy to comply with very much the same ideas after you fuck off to the West...
I bet it's Vancouver or somewhere on the West Coast (absolutely full of these types of immigrants), too...
It's the last stop before AI takes the job from humans entirely, I'm convinced. They are NPC jobs operating 100% on dialogue trees which is why it's slowly replaced with diversity hires since they work for less. Another good example are customer support calls, which are fielded by Indians, not even in the country you're calling from, reading off a script.
The entire banking sector is controlled by regulation the government decides. Governments are the reason for this. And the regulation Canada follows? It's decided by World Bankers in Basel.
Banks don't have that much cash, physical or digital, on hand because they spent it all on super-duper-ultra """safe""" government bonds (that all happen to be underwater).
Withdrawing more than $100 in physical cash WILL get the government sticking its dick in your private transaction. After all, Good Citizens™ only use easily-traceable digital payments.
Yeah, Australia is arguably, in many ways, almost as authoritarian as Canada, but I think you can even withdraw up to $2000AUD (~$1500US) from your bank’s normal ATM, no questions asked…
The main problem, however, is ATM/branch access, because the amount of “cutting back” there, these last few years, has been insane…
I fully expect that the main banks in this country will completely remove access to personal (i.e. non-business) banking, in-person, by 2030.
You might still have access to a few ATMS, but they won’t be owned or maintained by your own bank, and they certainly won’t let you withdraw $2000 at once…
Both of those things are already the case in Sweden, which is appalling for even accessing banking, let alone accessing physical cash itself. Seriously, if you want to see the dystopian, cashless future, spend some time in Scandinavia…
In Australia, it’s been trending that way for at least a decade (largely since they abolished ATM fees, under the guise of “increasing access”, and then used that as an excuse to massively decrease ATM availability). And Australians being apathetic, conformist slugs means that there has been remarkably little pushback…

Aye, when even the flea markets are taking it all digital, and no normie sees the problem, oh well they will remember once winter comes again.
Even? Bankers are always tyrants, by design.
That’s an immediate “close the account” and go to a different bank.
Every bank in Canada has to ask these questions when you're withdrawing cash over a certain amount. It's a federal regulation.
Not if it's under or at the daily limit, which is exactly what this guy did.

I never had to, and I did this multiple times in Ontario.
it's the same in the USA. not sure what the limit is though.

There are like 6 banks in the entire nation. And they all do this shit.
Always was.
Just wait until they remove cash entirely!
"Ok, in that case I'd like to close my account now and I'll take $3k in cash and the rest in a cashiers check."
Laughs in Australia, where banks plan to entirely eliminate cheques by 2030...
We are so screwed.
Why did they pick 2030, anyways? It just seems odd that there are so many globalist bullshit plans that target 2030.

Long enough for these geriatric Boomers to get their master plan in motion, but not so long that they won't live to see it.
That is a good answer. I don't know if it's the best, but it's the one I would use.

I heard that there's going to be a run on the banks in Canada...
Of course it's a first-gen Chinese immigrant as the bank teller, too. Of course it is...

I thought she sounded Indian personally.
Essentially every bank teller in the country has been replaced by a useless shitskin over the last few years.

Pretty sure the same is true in Europe, except that no one has the equivalent of $3000 to withdraw.
It's Canadian $3000, that's like three fiddy.
I offered them a dollah!
got daym loch ness monsta.
So Canada is now full-on "mask off" with their socialist authoritarian nightmare policy?
Which bank?
Some are definitely worse than others, up here.
i've withdrawn 10 in cash before why the shit is 3 an issue?
The truth: THEY DON'T HAVE ANY CASH. IT'S ALL FAKE.

They absolutely have way more than $3000 on hand at any given time.
Not even remotely true in my state. I withdraw more than that once or twice per month. What shithole do you live in?

At my bank you can withdraw 3k from the indoor ATM. Texas.
Ontario, same.
I pulled an entire account out, $3,000 a day in cash, over several weeks.
