And now its the other way round and now its the weebs that are the ones that have to tell others (tourists) that anime girls aren't real? im so sick of people treating fictional characters like they are real and real people like they are fiction.
At one time, I would’ve taken their opinions seriously, now I assume they are barely better than animals in terms of intelligence
The majority of it is projection, they're mad that Asia (as it's mostly Japan and South Korea but some China mixed in too) can just do whatever they want in fiction (they can go REALLY messed up, I refuse to read Happy End. as I looked at the tags) but seperate it from reality.
While they're over here, trying to live in their dangerous delusions that they can change gender, children can consent and that you can't be racist towards an entire race because of previous history. They're jealous that weebs can like a cute anime girl but keep the unhinged shit to their posters and figurines at home and be a normal part of society outside.
You also have the useful idiots regurgitating leftist talking points but they're just mouth breathers that support 'the current thing'
Everyone can like things and separate them if they're not retarded and insane.
I like a couple Vtubers and watch anime, doesn't mean I want to fuck kids or like little girls or some weird shit. When they say that kind of thing my eyebrows fly up into my fuckin hairline. Sounds like major projection to me
And even if you are looking and trying to justify the "anime to pedo pipeline", for every instance you find of Mad Thad or whatever, there are half a dozen of these
Quite appropriately, "hiding your power level" is a term that originated in anime, Dragon Ball Z specifically, and anime fans know when such a measure is needed. Or at least, they used to.
Don't worry, thanks to the legacy of Abe, there's enough anime that's just a psyop to say 'go out, procreate and raise a family' that it's keeping weebs sane.
They are more mad that Japan still understands how to make attractive female characters and isn't shoving gay shit into everything.
I’ve come to realize that cultivation theory is actually true for degenerates. They view media as a legitimizing force in their own lives, so any depictions of problematic behavior function as permission for the degenerates to engage in that same behavior. They’re looking for an excuse to indulge in their degeneracy, and they think media depictions function as that approval.
You've got me morbidly curious here - is this 481420 we're talking about?
It ain't even Hentai, it's a manga called Happy End. (Note the full stop there) only 10 chapters and the cover has a sweet girl sitting on a grassy hill....
The big tag that popped at me was GORE and the comments saying it's pure horror and likening it to Doki Doki so I'm out, I ain't into gore for gore sake, why I don't watch the Saw films.
i saw a good comment about them once , its that these people are " Grievance Grifters". They are not genuinely offended, they are only pretending to be offended because there is usually an incentive to act offended on the Internet (usually it's gaining clout).
The best way to defeat the Grievance Grifter is by simply pointing out that they're not really being offended and they're only doing this for an ulterior motive (usually clout chasing) and they only care about the attention and gaining power. The grifter in question will either leave the argument out of humiliation that people have tore apart their scam or they will double down as they make a bigger fool of themselves. So it's important to use your critical thinking skills when you deal with obvious liars that seek power and attention."
This reminds me of the Yakima Valley community College renaming it's self from the Chiefs to Yaks. The city and reservation are named after Chief Yak'ma who helped plan and arrange the reservation. It's taught to anyone living there. The name of the tribe is actually Sahaptin, but lots of people think they're Yakima.
The entire thing was done because the upper staff at the school, mostly women, thought the native tribe would be insulted. They weren't, but that didn't matter. So Yaks, which have nothing to do with the desert area are the big name of the local college sports team.
I doubt they actually thought that or cared what the tribe wanted.
They had plenty of opportunity to ask, since the tribe literally showed up to tell them to stop.
So lots of people just operate at the social group level without any factual reasoning at all. They literally have no idea how to determine if a tool is good or bad or if a fact is true or false - it doesn't even enter their minds. Their monkey brain evaluates social status, then their cortex confabulates justification for that evaluation.
They perceive weebs as people who should be under them in the social hierarchy, so then the chat bot that is their cerebral cortex generates words that might do that.
It's like celebrity worship on an even cringier level. I don't know why enjoyment leads to obsession, but it does I guess. Also can someone explain this weeb term? I don't like it, sounds like dweeb which is dorky.
Weeb, short for "weeaboo," is supposed to be a term for "someone obsessed with Japanese culture, even though their only knowledge of it is through entertainment." The kind of people that say english dubs suck on account of being in english (not for the reasons we have to hate them today). No idea how that term came about though.
Also, I just prefer content in it's original language form, whatever the language.
And I prefer to listen to something faithful to the source material, but in my own language, unless the acting is REALLY bad (there have been cases). I'm not going to argue which is better though.
And considering this is the older days of anime becoming mainstream, this was a time people were finding fansubs online, and legitimately thought kids in Naruto were screaming "FUCKING SHIT!!"
What were they saying, then? "Oh dear oh dear, I seem to have encountered an unfortunate circumstance"?
I prefer it when I can, but there are some things that I just can't do in the original language if I don't speak it.
for video games, I like to be able to understand what people are saying while the game play is happening, and that's very difficult to do without breaking focus to read subtitles. not to mention a lot of games have multiple people talking at once, which is even more difficult with subtitles.
some anime I can't do in the original language either. The biggest one that comes to mind is legend of the galactic heroes. the show is fantastic and very well thought out, but there are so many people and names to keep track of that the show gets very exhausting to watch if you don't know the original language. I've been waiting on the remake because it has a dub, and is pretty faithful to the original.
I appreciate your perspective on this and I agree that more complex dialogue does become taxing in a foreign language and it wouldn't be so in english.
Not sure on the initial first usage, but /a/ on 4chan, back when it wasn't shit (it was always shit though, but different shit), made a word filter that switched "otaku" with "weeaboo". That was what popularized the term, though likely didn't originate it.
I may be wrong, but the word is similar enough to Imposter in Japanese that I think that's a clue.
I believe it was taken from an old surrealist webcomic whose name I can't remember.
This? Not sure if there's a connection or if the term's just a coincidence.
https://pbfcomics.com/comics/weeaboo/
Yes, that's the one. As you say, it might just be a coincidence but that's where I thought the name came from..
That is surrealist indeed. I'm sure it made sense to somebody somewhere.
Thanks for explanation. Obsession hits it on the head, I think. There's no need for labels to check out and enjoy other cultures, I don't get it, but I don't get most things anymore.
weeb and weeaboo were definitely originally derogatory terms. oftentimes it was used to describe someone who loved Japan, but their perspective and idea of Japan was very warped and skewed to the point where they would be laughed at and shunned if they actually went to Japan and acted the way they did.
Much like "nigga" in principle, the community ended up embracing it. now it's mostly used to describe a person who is a fan of anime or Manga in some way.
I always figured it was just self-deprecating acceptance.
"Yeah I'm a loser who watches anime, but I'm kind of ok with that."
you can tell who is a real anime/manga fan and who is a tourist based on whether they are fine with being called weeb or not. A tourist hates to be called weeb but a real fan is fine with or proud to be called weeb.
weeb just basically means "anime/manga fan" or it can also just mean "Japan fan"
So it's not insulting? I instinctually felt insulted when someone called me this, once.
It's meant to be insulting, but we're taking it back.
It used to be insulting and it referred to very specific kind of people who used their obsession with Japan as a substitute for personality.
Understandable as it's a D away from being a proper insult
It is an insult, weebs are essentially race and culture trannies. It's not to be conflated with dweeb. It means weeaboo.
That's what I'm learning, interest doesnt have to be ownersnip but there's so many crazies!
Weebs are people who think japanese culture is superior to all others and want to become Japanese, despite not being it. The term is ancient and you have completely misconstrued it. I've been into anime and some manga since the 80s. Weeb is and always will be an insult. You can like the subject and not be a weeb. I love the stuff but I also have no respect for the Japanese.
Tyrants like to neg people relentlessly until they accept whatever version of reality the tyrant is peddling, and for the rank and file that means abandoning the real world and living in their fictional realities.
Emotions aren't meant to be shared after all. They flip the script and then obviously it has ties to real life harm when it suits them. Sexy ladies leads to sexism, though true crime series never seem to have half the scrutiny that geeky franchises get.
I refuse to consider biological girls as anything more than inferior men. To me, the only real girls in the world are anime girls!
Leftists simply hate beauty and joy and anime represents both better than any other form of TV show-type entertainment right now.
