How old is old you?

Sorry, I should have phrased that better. When did old you become new you and what sparked the change?

To answer your question, yes, but as I get older, my pessimism has pushed out my joy and wonder when it comes to new tech.

To put my views into a phrase: "That sounds amazing! Now, who is in charge of development, who is paying for that development, and what do they believe?"

I think my views started to change around 10 years ago as well, with GG and the bullshit surrounding how the media treated Trump cementing the process.

From what I have seen, UBI need either a very tightly regulated market system (to keep inflation and local price fixing in check) for a "universal" currency or a "currency specific" system (you want to take a trip to visit friends, so you trade some of your durable goods credits for extra travel and entertainment credits).

It would also require something to replace work, so state or corporate sponsored events to give people purpose and meaning as not everyone can find it by themselves, and (if you are a benevolent ruler) the last thing you want is people killing themselves or each other, or formulating a rebellion because "fuck it, nothing better to do".

The 2020 "Summer of Love" was a preview to the UBI future. When showered with stimmies checks, eviction moratoriums, and student loan freezes, these shitheads went out to loot and riot.

Amazing. The balance of its gait makes it look like it needs to take a dump, badly.

People don't seem to realize how many compromises human evolution made for bipedal locomotion.

That's why I laugh every time I hear fart-sniffers talk about how "perfect" the human form is. No, it's far from perfect, it's a jury-rigged evolutionary mess that just barely works, with the knees and lower back being the worst failure points. Archosaurs developed a much better way of being bipedal, but the human ape always lacked a tail, so couldn't use that as a balance.

And aliens with ape-like, brachiating shoulders and a human stance will always scream "hoax" to me. Hoax, or "animated wildlife decoy".

The opposite. We can have periods of instability in the gait because because we are so good at predicting the future and understanding the environment that we know our foot will land and have traction.

Robots that look like us will move like we do once they are advanced enough to really understand the world they're in.

I wonder what this means for all the "cheap labor" we've been importing?

We'll just import more, they'll do the jobs robots won't do!

If they don't have one as advanced or another company more advanced that can mass manufacture, expect these to be in Japan on a mass scale immediately.

Was reading this on Lotus Eaters as well as seeing how they automated a lot of jobs, it wouldn't surprise me if they'll be the first to have a mechanised army than accept immigration at this point.

One of the things Elon was warning about AI was not it shouldn't be looked into, but WHERE it's being developed that may be the issue.

If California gets the head start, that AI with THEIR philosophy which includes that decreasing population saves the environment. A non fucked up more nationalist country would develop AI with a Philosophy of safeguarding it's people from external threats so at least know there's no need to kill EVERY human for 'the greater good'

They haven't figured out how to keep the cars from running into things, so I don't see how they'll keep the robot from hurting people.

Robots are used in factories all the time. They just have to be in cages, because they have no concept of how not to disassemble you if you get in their way. They don't even have the sensors necessary, nor are such easy to construct.

Based on Tesla's track record, my guess is they'll just go for it and deal with some consequences until someone external moves to force their hand like OSHA.

I really hate the asimo like hip joints. Those kind of joints have a restricted y axis clearance. boston dynamic's atlas is pretty much the best humanoid design out there with the only thing it's lacking is a pair of fingered hands.

Basically how you get Brave New World, where (normal) sex and childbirth are "for animals", and humans are purpose-bred for their roles in gene-editing labs.

They've already got the artificial womb-bags ....

Still pro life Conservatives?

Yes, you psychopath. Being pro life doesn't mean that we should be letting the government control reproduction that way. The fact that you think it does is insane.

I don’t think women will give a fuck because they’ll have their own versions of the sex dolls, they’ll still be able to fuck chad who won’t bother with/need a sex doll, and they’re generally not insightful enough to realize exactly why they’re unfulfilled and unhappy til it’s too late.

It's not the sex doll they need. They need the robot to work for them and give them the money

Why the hell would they bother growing humans when they can just use this tech for humanoid slaves and murder bots?

Admit it. You just wanted to talk about sperm collection!

They're inevitable malfunctioning might be the only hope we have for real sci-fi AI.

I suppose after the governments mandate 15 minute cities we'll need to spend our 'car' money on something else. Meet the something else. A lifetime of payment for a lifetime companion (terms and conditions apply) that will ensure you follow the mandated program.

Elon won't care. He'll be on Mars with his 50 children and spreading his musk on his brood mares. We'll get X and he'll take the XXX.

Why human like robots for factories. A robot arm is much quicker and precise. Put a camera and wheels on it and you have something that can do the same work that this thing takes 10 min for in just a minute tops.
