I just want to say that I appreciate this community. I have been here since the start under a different account that I deleted.
Same, got spooked a bit because of doxxing since my very old one was my old reddit one(which got banned a while ago I think or I just deleted everything).
The way people are starting to talk on the internet is entering down right bizarre territory. I feel like I'm talking to people with a 65 IQ on NormieNet.
The longer this goes on the more the dead internet theory seems outright real. People are just bots in normienet as you call it, either generally idiots not thinking for themselves like drones or actual bots.
I think the best thing that could happen was getting off of Reddit. Even though this place has issues it is far more free and open than Reddit was and I'm thankful.
Right on, reddit is just a hivemind at this point and you cannot tell me that most aren't fucking bots on there. When you look into an echochamber it just feels so alien.
I'm also glad this place exists, I don't always post but I still lurk and give my takes on stuff I feel the urge to post on...like your thread here ^^
Cheers bro same. This tiny forum has had a lot more meaningful discussion than 99% of normie net.
You're spot on about poor communication skills and borderline illiteracy in the general population. It's clear that is a goal of TPTB when it comes to making us dumber and unable to coordinate with each other.
Its like we aren't speaking the same language anymore.
2016, especially 2019 and subsequently 2020 split the world into two realities. The NPC had their minds bored out and replaced with the state apparatus.
I feel like I'm talking to people with a 65 IQ on NormieNet.
I've long held that the internet makes smart people smarter and dumb people dumber.
It's been almost 17 years since the birth of the iPhone - how much dumber can people get? Would anyone at the time believed that "reaction videos" would be a popular form of entertainment for the masses?
There's definitely been times I've been arguing with someone and got the distinct impression they were 14.
And while part of me misses the "old Inter-Net", the other part of me knows that a lot of those guys provided the intellectual cover for things to get to where they are today. Bunch of academics and high IQ techies whose only interactions with any minority group (gays, blacks, foreigners, etc...) was the high IQ (and usually English-speaking) segment of said group. And who thought that "progress" can only occur when the older generations die off and the best thing "old people" could do was get out of the way of new ideas from the young.
It is disheartening to realize how many people were copying smart opinions because they were trendy (within certain crowds), rather than convergent realization.
I think the opposite is more true: the smart people defended the ideas that supported the "stupid" actions which were also supported by those same ideas but in a "dumber" way.
See also: the classic George Carlin "I understand what you're trying to do, but you're doing it all wrong!" brand of "comedy".
Then liberal ideas of "democracy" and "will of the people" disabled that part of the back of our brain which told us "well if this is how 'stupid' people are implementing our ideas, perhaps we should prevent the 'stupid' people from doing so lest they fuck it all up."
This place and Gab have really made me feel like I'm talking to real people again. Not always of course but much more likely. Gab is ok once you mute all the bible-thumpers and flat-earthers.
I am also thoroughly convinced that a humongous percentage of the people I interact with out in the Normie Wilds are bots. They seem at once unable to understand the flow of conversation from one post to another and also extremely hostile out of nowhere, either when that fact is commented on or just in response to a post generally.
I don't know where else I'd find an audience like the one here. Most forums collapse under the pressure of Leftists and Trannies throwing fits at the server providers. Weak and spineless, and burdens to the rest of us for having to pick up the pieces afterward.
Each interaction when I'm talking with people they seem to complete misinterpret or miss the point entirely. Its like we aren't speaking the same language anymore.
Oh, those are NPCs. They have a handful of lines, but that's it.
Yes, I am going to thwap you with this stick. You run away from your history and yet have to come back and be born again and talk about how you ran away from your history.
Your problem was always you, and it still is. Your behavior shows you haven't actually changed, and will repeat all the stupid shit you did before.
But that's besides the point. My point is, you deliberately brought up an identity you walked away from. This is narcissism, and of the same sort you see from the "born again" crowd. It's not enough for you to simply blow away your old identity and create a new one, you have to have an audience to the fact that you did.
It's because you were talking to people back then that still lived real lives outside the internet. Now you have people existing solely on the internet and that's accelerating the clown world process where nothing even makes sense anymore.
Someone said it best, the internet used to be a nice escape from rl, but now real life is the escape from the internet.
Joke's on you, I'm actually 3 badgers under a raincoat!
BADGERS?! BADGERS?! WE DON"T NEED NO STINKING BADGERS!
MUSHROOM MUSHROOM!
I'm a monkey.
And that one reminded me of the flash animation "The Matrix Has You". Specifically, the parody of the Burly Brawl.
I'm Spartacus!
But are you three Honey Badgers?
I try to be an actual human being most of the time
Thank you kind sir

You seem likeable, I'm sorry to tell you this, but https://files.catbox.moe/me4mex.webm

I'd wager a lot of the people who 20 years ago were calling the ban of master/slave terminology "dumb" on slashdot support the modern bans on the terms for "inclusivity" reasons.

Or just the same group of demented basement dwellers running dozens of accounts each.
Every now and then you can rattle them so much that they forget which sock puppet account they have their hand up and things take a hilarious turn.
Oh, those are NPCs. They have a handful of lines, but that's it.
I’m a huge subscriber of dead internet theory.
That’s why I know real people post here.
Grandstand the fuck more.

There are only four or five people you could be.
But that's besides the point. My point is, you deliberately brought up an identity you walked away from. This is narcissism, and of the same sort you see from the "born again" crowd. It's not enough for you to simply blow away your old identity and create a new one, you have to have an audience to the fact that you did.
I think you might be slightly overreacting to a throwaway line from a sock.
Nah. Overreacting would be to shoot him. Being judgy and patronizing is just my breakfast.
I apologize if this is going to make you spiral into a suicidal depression, but not all of us are escapism-addicted burnouts.
Merry Fucking Christmas
"Sorry if this makes you kill yourself"
Wew lad, hell of a delivery there.
Textbook BPD thing to say. Hopefully as a joke that just came out wrong.
I'm definitely appropriating that one.
