Cracks me up how they refuse to acknowledge that like 99% of Latinos hate this. Are they not aware how Latin based languages are structured?

They don't care what actual minorities think. Most Indians also had no problem with the 'redskins' label, but they just continued the witch-hunt.

It's rich, white regressives using others as their mascots all the way down.

Speedy Gonzales was beloved in Mexico. But he's a stereotype so he's gotta go.

I love the bit in Looney Tunes: Back in Action where he and Porky lament political correctness killing their schticks.

Why is that movie so hated? It wasn't great, no, but Space Jam: A New Legacy was FAR worse.

Was it hated? I can't say how much I remember of it outside of spy girl in a leather catsuit and Brendan Fraser (main character) punching Brendan Fraser (as himself)

It certainly bombed really hard at the time.

I think it was due the stigma that cartoons, especially 2D cartoons, are "just for kids." It's been plaguing the medium for decades. Thus adults don't go to see the film, and families are put off by the content that's not squeaky clean. (As though the Looney Tunes haven't always been full of risqué humor that flies over the heads of younger viewers.)

I hate this with a passion. This is a bit off topic but who thought 3d animation=also for adults while saying 2d is for kids? It's what has turned me off of western animation for the longest time, way before all the woke crap.

Only recently have I started catching up(I really enjoyed Megamind for example), I entirely disregarded it cuz I don't like the look. Not all look shit but especially the early ones? Look like plastic. Which might work for toys in toy story 1 but not for the human in it. The jokes in 3d animation I feel got a lot sillier than something seen in say Mulan, although that might be because all movies nowadays aren't as funny as movies used to.

was it hated? I fucking loved that movie as a kid. it still holds up for a nostalgic movie as an adult.

A lot of movies have what I call "meme hatred."

As in, they were fine movies and rather liked by anyone who saw them, but a handful of people have been spamming that they are GOD AWFUL IRREDEEMABLE GARBAGE for a while to the point where people just assume it must be true.

Like, Space Jam was a fucking masterpiece for its target audience and filled with incredible good for anyone else. Jordan's acting wasn't even that bad. But people love to scream about how it was this god awful movie that everyone knew was awful and had no redeeming qualities (except Lola, sometimes).

I'm the same way with the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie.

It's my favorite guilty-pleasure movie of all time.

I still maintain that, with a couple of changes, it could have been genuinely GOOD.

And yeah, the original Space Jam was a lot of fun--in fact, it's my second-favorite guilty pleasure movie.

Honestly, I give the 93 Mario Bros credit just for the sheer level of creativity and clear effort that went into it. Its probably the epitome of "would be heralded as great if it was original, but because its an adaptation its terrible." I don't think any part of it could ever be a good Mario movie (minus the casting of the two bros), but without the label it would sit aside a lot of other sci-fi dystopian cult classics.

When I still watched ESPN regularly they discussed a poll that showed that like 95% of Native Americans didn’t mind redskins. The hosts of the show said that it doesn’t matter because if one person is offended then that is enough

That just reminds me of the time someone did a "Caucasians" mockery thinking "white people wouldn't like that," and literally no one took offense to it, even found it cool. Definitely would need the Chad "Yes." man as a mascot image.

I saw that as well. Seems pretty cool

The Caucasians thing seems like a troll since the reaction to that is predictable, and pointing out the circumstances to leftists doesn't make them any smarter. They just come up with some excuse. As above.

Literally no slur against white people has ever worked. Every single one gets white guys saying it too and laughing about it. Which immediately makes people never say it again.

Almost like there are ways to make "slurs" disappear, and the fact that so many still exist happens because of actual effort to keep them powerful.

If one person is offended and he agrees with them, it's enough.

If 95% of people are offended and they disagree with them, they need to shut up. In fact, they'll use the money of those people to fund what is offensive to them, like Piss Chris and Dung Mary.

scape goats, not mascots. all they can do is tear down existing things, and they blame the minorities they claim to champion when people push back.

Not only did the indians not mind it but they actively encouraged it, as people would look into their histories upon seeing said mascots. I remember back in I think 2014 they invited a 90yr old indian war veteran to one of the redskin games, and there was such an outpour of support afterwards that they named a street after the guy a month later.

lol, I definitely don't watch the NFL. But I know that there's all sorts of Tomahawk chopping going on, which I only know about because they whined about it during the Covington kids witch-hunt.

Which is ironic. Apparently, it's wrong when people they don't like do it, but not otherwise.

It's just hypocrisy all the way down.

If they changed the name from "Redskins" to "Braves" they could have kept everything but the name, and probably upset less people.

Might have had trademark disputes with the Atlanta Braves if they did that.

Apparently the Tomahawk chop is still fine. That's way more racist to me than calling people the "Braves"

Plenty of examples of professional sports teams sharing nicknames but I suppose it's possible that the trademarks could have been filed more comprehensively.

No matter how hard they try, these sports are literally deep rooted tradition in a lot of families. Families who are filled with bad think, who will continue to bring their bad culture to the games.

So, even though Nascar bans all Confederate Flags from even being mentioned near them, nearly every Nascar race being watched has a Confederate Flag hanging nearby. Same with all these NFL names.

One of the sour olde hwyte women in HR where I work bleated out an email using "Latinix" and it was heartening how epic the push back in the replies became. I think she was genuinely surprised how many feisty Latinas worked for the company.

White "saviour" took a beat down that day.

Addendum: And just as a reminder Nintendo is the company that had Alison Rapp as one of their young gamer outreach representatives. She's the one that wrote a thesis on allowing adults to have sex with kids, make child porn legal and moonlighted as an escort. Pepperidge Farm remembers.
