Too bad. I was hoping they'd all starve and the industry would die.

I agree, it does suck. I keep feeling like things that look like easy wins for us keep turning out to be otherwise.

I think it may have had to do with the relatively recent ruling that AI work cannot be copyrighted. That probably kept them their place.

People just sit on their butts and don't do anything and assume the side with all the institutional power will screw up.

And pro wrestling.

WWE's writers are non-union.

And AEW has NO writers--everything onscreen was a wrestler's idea.

with the studios maybe caving into some of the actors demands.

I really hope they don't. I want the strike to go on as long as possible for everyone involved to suffer as much as possible.

Dammit. I was hoping it would last forever.

Yep. A smoking crater would have been an improvement. It was one of those conflicts where I earnestly wished everyone involved would lose.

I was hoping they'd just say "fuck the unions" and go back to business.

Why? The studios are just as repulsive. It's better if they go down with the writers.

Because we can still boycott their productions if they don't fix their shit. The Film Actors Guild et al has no intent on fixing their shit, they absolutely deserve to be tossed out.

Strikes are way more disruptive than consumer boycotts. It's not even close.

The good news is it might've been long enough that it broke the normie cycle of mindlessly consuming and they moved on to other entertainment options.

So Hollywood is fucked anyway.

These cock suckers make like 120k a year from writing garbage and they complain about being broke?

I fully intend to use MidJourney to create actors that don't exist, with voice AI for people that don't exist, and make videos and games without these fools.

Are the generators smart enough to make textures if you give them a UV map and a description of the object?

Not yet. And the current AI tools are extremely expensive even for just a few seconds of animated sequences.

Yes. SDXL with outline should do that.

I love it how union leadership always declares the strike over as soon as they are personally satisfied and before the terms even are sent to the membership for a vote.

They don't even pretend that the will of the membership matters.

Union voting is faker and gayer than even electoral college systems.

There was a writers strike?

The closest I get to watching anything out of Hollywood is watching youtubers make fun of it.

That's the best part for me. For someone like me who mostly watches Vtuber clips and lets plays, nothing has really changed.

It takes about 20 days for a film production to spool back up. There's a lot of loose end chasing.

Like getting filming permits, scheduling and wrangling the on screen actors, catering, production crew setup, makeup and costumes, etc
