There's still so much focus on a console war fanboy fest that I'm not sure that's even the war anymore. Sometimes I feel like the "console war" is entirely artificially made. Because I've truly never seen a person fanboy over a Sony or Microsoft console beyond "yeah I got this one," but people online talk like its straight up warfare. But it does create constant talk about "muh exclusives" and "muh hardware" to shill those out to create random marketing all over the internet.
Not consoles, but I did have the unpleasant experience of having to work with an Apple fanboy. If he spent more time actually doing his job than bitching about the computer, he might have not been fired after 6 months.
A job that was entirely done on a web site through a browser. The whole job could have been done through a kid's tablet.
It's shocking how much of it has been fake this entire time. People went back and forth between Sega and Nintendo all the time. The sales numbers for Playstation don't make sense.
I guess I should add the people were working for the companies back and forth. The rivalry on the actual ground didn't exist. The Yakuza and others wanted there to be, and I'm fairly certain Sega was using consoles as a money laundering scheme, not an actual rivalry.
And people still go hard with Nintendo vs Anything Else, and even for a while PC vs Console.
No one has given a shit about Playstation versus Xbox since the PS3/360 era at best. They still sell, but nobody is out there getting heated and defensive about it. Things you need for a "war" in this sense.
Its only competition in two fronts. The only two places with exclusive games people actually care about, and because you can emulate just released Switch games on PC and get better performance than on actual hardware.
In the case of the latter, that's an actual problem. Because you might be getting the best form of the game on PC, but the lack of sales will effect the franchises considerably if that method takes off. Especially with Nintendo's hateboner for emulation to begin with.
There is no way that Activision Blizzard will be any worse under Microsoft than if they continued to exist on their own.
I know I’m tempting fate with this, but Activision is one of the worst corporations in the industry, and the only way it will get worse is if Microsoft lets Activision continue its current trajectory of franchise consolidation and wokeness.

But realistically he needs Microsoft to stay successful to maintain his 'image.' Same reason Jobs decided to go back to Apple. It looks bad for them if the company the built goes under, even if they aren't involved.

Will overwatch 3 be twice as gay? Will Diablo 5 be even more boring? Blizzard has been a skinwalker for maybe 15 years now. The only good thing that came out of nu-blizz was hearthstone and they managed to mess that up in only a couple of years.
It’s not a monopoly though. Microsoft is in third place out of the console makers. And they own way fewer studios than Embracer. Their biggest console game they are getting out of this is cod. Maybe this will spur Sony to pay for a cod rival on PlayStation
So the only ones left to possibly buy from the big 2 (as I doubt Nintendo even cares or wants to buy a foreign game studio) is Ubisoft, EA, Square Enix and a few others here and there.
EA would be great for their IPs but their demands for purchase right now are ridiculous, Ubisoft is REALLY infiltrated that you'd need to purge staff to not be fully taken over by the grifters and Square seems like its a matter of time before Sony gets them by proximity.
Ubisoft to Embracer? Quite crazy how tiny little Nordic Games bought up some garbage in bankruptcy court to that being feasible.
I guess at this point I’d prefer Epic and Valve to stay where they are than caring about all these mega devs. Need to keep game development tools (e.g. Unreal) out of the big hands. I wonder if one of them ends up buying up Unity.
I doubt they can touch Valve or Epic, both have their own storefronts and can sell direct plus Epic owns Fortnite that just continues to print money and Valve makes everyone open their wallets everytime they have a sale.
Maybe a Mario Kart competitor? I don't know if there's already an actual popular one of those, but you know Epic could make it happen and flood it full of all their skins and crap.

Nintendo vs PC makes sense. I consider the PS and XB just part of the PC now.

Apple has no reason to buy unity. Unity works with every platform developer, so did epic before they got in a fight over 30% on the App Store
