I'm a little concerned with the level of concern for infrastructure, the amount of rail accidents this year alone tells me you should evaluate ALL your transportation networks.

I want to see the actual numbers come the end of the year. Because something tells me it wasnt any more than normal, it was just the media started reporting on them more. Like what happened with the supposed jump in fires at food processing plants that turned out to be in line with the average.

The only unusual derailment was the one in Ohio, and that seems like a situation where I am going to blame the railroad, since if my dad's hunch is right (from experience as a retired firefighter), it sounds like the railroad may have been cooking the books resulting in the wrong technique to fight the fire, causing the chemical fire we all saw.

So the reality is (and you can look this up via the fra, and relevant bodies in Canada, etc) derailments are generally on a downward trend year after year after year.

We get about 1k+ here per year in the US now, and you don't hear about 99% of them because they're minor. The news just hypes shit up.

That said, the Ohio one was bad, but I'm not sure it was avoidable. I'm not a chemical engineer, but from what was explained to me they could have done what they did, or potentially had it blow up on its own. Im not sure what was worse.

Here's the thing about the news: it's not worth reporting on the common. Pretty much everyone got worked up over the Ohio thing because, frankly, they were hoping to use it to dunk on Trump. Everyone talking about "how this would have been prevented if Deviant Don didn't scrap the new break regulation" despite the facts that:

  1. The breaks would have done nothing to prevent the derailing.
  2. The regulation was scraped because the cost-benefit outcome that was outlined under the Obama-era bill required a threshold to be passed.
  3. It would have likely caused more injuries that it prevented as rail workers would have to spend more time between cars.
  4. We would have literally zero rail car transportation as mixed-brake systems wouldn't be possible.

Also, remember that time Biden cracked down on rail worker protests?

I really like how "Gun violence" is at 81% for D, but "Violent crime" is at 52%. Kind of show you how brainwashed they really are.

That's because they really do only want the guns taken from people who follow laws. They don't want you to be able to buy one to defend yourself.

They have no concerns about criminals who will be able to buy guns anyway. They don't care that anyone with a 3d printer can just make them.

They vote for people who let violent criminals out of prison and even refuse to prosecute them in the first place. They want to prosecute people who defend themselves and others from violent criminals. This is not an exaggeration or fallacy, it is literally what they keep voting and cheering for and they openly admit it.

Plus, "moral values" is at 39, while racism is at 55, greedy hospitals/insurance companies are at 73 and climate change (which they keep shrieking about as if it is a moral issue) is at 64.

Why is Domestic terrorism so high, 25% of R?

Surprising that 39% of D think that moral values and the federal budget deficit are a problem. That is 38% more then I expected.

52% think inflation is a problem but I'm willing to bet a lot of them don't see a correlation between insane government spending and inflation. It is all climate change, Putin and Covid, not the insane and ineffective restrictions but the virus itself, somehow.

Remember the "Mostly Peaceful Protests"? That's domestic terrorism and it definitely is a problem. Especially when the media supports it and runs cover for it.

Why is Domestic terrorism so high, 25% of R?

Between competing concerns of Antifa, BLM, or white boogeymen, I could see a healthy portion of any population worried about violent activity from within.
Edit: also, pregnancy killers as we saw last year.

Old R's who remember the D bombings, like of the Whitehouse? And how those terrorists are now lecturers at universities.

Why is Domestic terrorism so high

It's what libs call Republicans, in particular trump supporters

Honestly I can't read the moral values thing as anything but a phrasing issue. You seriously think the average democrat doesn't totally abhor the moral standards and ideology of most of the rest of the country?

The thing is the phrasing "Moral values" is too close to religious, they don't think they believe it when they do, they just call it something different. Ask about a country's ethical standards or generally use intellectualised phrasing and you'll get the opposite results.

I like the disparity between gun crime and violent crime. apparently liberals only care about crime when it's committed with a gun, but people getting beaten up and mugged in the streets by masked thugs is apparently not an issue.

Only 3% of crimes committed with guns were with guns that were legally purchased. They aren't interested in stopping the other 97%. They just want to disarm you.

I've started to frame it as "disarming the peasantry" since their espoused moral framework is that of standing up for the underdog. Some of the less ideologically possessed among them show a glimmer of understanding when you phrase it that way.

Utterly hilarious that the one thing both sides agree on is the inability to work together. Ain't that poetic?

It’s interesting, though, that so many of the issues see both sides close in concern. Like, we all agree on inflation, violent crime, ability to work together, and addiction as being important concerns. But as a consequence of that agreement those issues are considered boring, even though they’re among the most important. Instead the media pushes the ones with the greatest divide, which not only helps maintain or increase that divide but also makes people think the other side is their irredeemable enemy. Like, I hate progressives as much as the next member of this forum, because I think progressives are psychotic extremists who like to fuck kids. But I could probably get along with a “mere” liberal on most of the “boring” issues. Unfortunately the mere liberals are so scared of the raging progressives that they’ve become beholden to them, so even a liberal who was concerned about progressive kid fuckers is too scared to say so and has to pretend that he (1) supports the progressives and (2) hasn’t noticed how much the progressives want to fuck kids. It’s sad. Sometimes I think the only difference between a conservative and a liberal, as both are differentiated from a progressive/wokie/SJW/pick your term, is that one isn’t afraid to point out what what the progressives really are and the other is afraid.

Interesting to see that both sides agree that their ability to work with their enemies is a big problem.

I find the dems lack of concern for violent crime, but their concern for gun crime, to be hilarious. It shows just how much they don't care about crime, only gun control.
