Abandoning what? A flavor of the month game that came out a little over a month ago at the time of that posting? Of course player retention is going to drop; most will have already completed their playthrough in that time and move on to something else. Not to mention it's a singleplayer game; player retention doesn't mean jack shit. This tub of lard is smoking a ton of copium, alongside a ton of other drugs.
Will be interesting to see what happens to the player numbers when
the inevitable DLC comes out
when the PS4/Xbone releases happen in a week and when the switch release happens over the summer.
The numbers probably won't be as outrageously high compared to the original, simply because of basic FOTM release cycles having already sold it to most who wanted it and DLC not usually bringing back all players. Same as every other game in history.
Which they will probably use to gloat about as if its indicative of anything.
It's also woke as fuck and seems to have been written by a committee. I got it a day or so after launch specifically because the left hated it and I thought the gameplay looked fun.
I was right, it was fun but the dialogue is so fucking boring.
According to Steam charts, more people playing Elden Ring than HW: Legacy (almost double)

Console numbers obvs. not factored. Also not that surprising since ER has multiplayer and yes, it is more replayable.
I've noticed Avalanche Studios games are very 'content consoom' games where you see the story and cutscenes and then you're done with it. So the idea that the game is losing steam is a bit true but it's also completely expected. This of course is merely the first cycle before the inevitable round of discount promotions and market segmenting, all planned and factored into AAA game sales.
Considering the 3-4 main types of builds (str vs dex, int vs faith) resulting in a pretty high degree of variability in playstyles from game to game, not to mention the huge array of different sub-categories of spells, items, weapons', special attacks, and so forth; builds are practically endless. It's the only game where you can say "I'm going to play a fistfighter who attacks by shooting chaos fire directly into someone's brain". Yeah, it has quite the replay value.
People bought a single player game. Played all of the content they wanted out of it, maybe even 100% completing it. Then stopped playing? OMG NO WAI
Bonus article by her about her yeasty gunt: https://www.autostraddle.com/how-polyamory-pushed-me-to-prioritize-pelvic-health/
Why have you brought this evil upon us?
Oh, read it if you have not. The only explicit thing about it is the delusion of the author. If you can take pleasure in watching a person desperately struggle to consistently make the worst choice about their health even when obvious, neon signs are pointing to "lose weight, you ham planet", then you will enjoy it.
I've noticed that people in their early 30s right now are in really bad shape, even worse than people who are in their 40s despite the age difference. It can't keep going on like this.
I admit I fell deeper into a sedentary lifestyle over the past couple years. Always fat (220-230 lbs) but I never had injuries or limited. I climbed Mt Fuji and Mt Hallasan in the same year (tallest mountain in Japan/Korea respectively) with little difficulty.
But god damn once i got up to 250 it was like everything was falling apart. Blood pressure was awful, resting pulse was 80, felt like trash all day.
I quit my desk job and picked up a more physical job. I dont even touch a computer most days. Lost 30 lbs in 5 months without any other changes and I feel great again. Still need to lose 40 or so more, but the improvement has already done wonders for my mental health.
Where there is a will there is a way. They have no will of their own, so there is no way they can change unless commanded, but who would tell them to sort their lives out and would they even listen? I think not.
I can guess why. The late 20s/early 30s is when youth fitness starts to wear off. If you were in decent shape, and mildly active, you can eat poorly and get away with it. I worked out in my 20s for strength, not to lose weight. I'd walk miles just with friends just as part of hanging out. Age, responsibility, maturity, etc changes that.
NOW, have that point in life happen during years of Covid, and you have people overeating without realizing they aren't exercising, because they barely had to think about exercise before.
I actually think that's where a lot of "long covid" comes from.
All of this person’s problems stem from being fat. All of them.
A few choice quotes from the article:
🤮
Ya think
Who is boning this land whale???
Try losing weight and you'll see your health improving.
Where's eye bleach when I need it.
Losing a hundred or more pounds would probably be more helpful for her pelvis. She could even break into the dating class that is not completely compromised of land whales.
Thankfully it's only a text article.
Wow. I wish I didn’t subsidize her medical costs.
90% chance she dies at the age of 40 from sleep apnea like all the fat “activists”

I feel a deep, almost primal, disgust and aversion to this person's existence.
I know that was written as a profile description. 15 years ago that would read as a negative review
LOL that shit's hilarious. It's also funny that there's people who look at that as something to be proud of.
50% fat, 50% mental illness.
It's a single player game.
You know, like your love life.
If you mean the author, then you are sadly mistaken. Divorced and now part of a "closed polycule" by her own admission.
The silver lining is that it proves there is someone for everyone. A bit of hope from a story of horror if you will.
I think you could argue that in order to count as being in a relationship with multiple people, you would first have to qualify as "people". If the author looks like primordial sludge, I hate to think what its' beta orbiters look like.
The author is queer, and presents as a human female, so other human female presenting primordial sludge of similar weight class?
lol. Now I'm curious what you'd call a "flock" of primordial oozes; coven would probably be accurate. Whatever weight class they fit into should sound large, like Jupiter class.
Reminds me of a show I was watching (sue me). Decided to show us a woman masturbating to demonstrate she was unlucky in love vs her daughter who was fucking some guy in her school. Anyways, I thought that was crass.
Yeah, this game ain't Skyrim. You play through once and that's it, like most games.
Of course they think there's a black mark on the soul of anyone who has played the game so from that perspective the title makes sense. "You've sullied yourself for a game that doesn't even have replay value."
I hate this retarded idea that a game must be bad if people ever stop playing it.
Not everything is designed as a 'forever game', nor should it be. Jesus christ.
What people stop playing the single player game after they beat it?
Isnt the game single player? They do realize once people beat the game, they move on, right?
And it has even less replay value because they stuck in a trender. ;)
It's a single player game that isn't Skyrim, of course the player numbers have dropped by now. They've done most of it if not 100% it.
They are abandoning the mediocre single player flavour of the month game? lol. oh noos. Lol even if it were true, Jk rolling already got the money anyways.
