I’ve asked that question and they get upset when you ask or point to some movie from the 50s or 60s where a white person played an Asian or Native American
I find it really funny how precisely Yugoslavs almost always played Indians in the East German Westerns. The Sebian nationalist bodybuilder Gojko Mitic was a big star, invariably shirtless in a wig. Not even the Soviet Asians or something.
There was a Polish Jagged Alliance parody Rezerwowe Psy in which one of characters was "former actor playing Indians, more recently war criminal".
Interesting. I guess that makes sense for the region. Like I’ve seen Nigerian movies about Ancient Rome or something and of course everyone is black but that is understandable. Not so much in the west.
Because it's not about "representation" as they say. They hate Whites and hate seeing redheads, since they're so obviously White. See also the reeing about the Lilo and Stitch actors being "too pale", because they're not good at being subtle about their hatred of Whites anymore either.
“It’s such a flawed argument because when a character is played by a darker person than the original none of these people complained. But when a character is played by a lighter person than the original, it’s suddenly ‘representation fail.’ Faggy-gen-Z-emoji. it’s beyond fake.”
Are any of those examples from series (or, being kind, current IPs) currently airing/in progress?
Meanwhile, I thought the main issue was (originally) that redheads were being erased, so how does pulling up a whole 36 examples mostly from more than 15 years ago DeBooOooOoO0nk anything?
One Piece is ongoing but raw manga are generally colourless because it saves time for weekly releases. Most are however no longer active shows, if cult favourites these days like Justice League and Justice League Unlimited where that version of Hawkgirl comes from.
Also having Ranma in there is either an oversight by the OP or trolling.
To be fair a blonde or brunette could dye her hair red. A black woman could but it wouldn’t look authentic. I was actually shocked when they decided that the Red Sonja movie will actually feature a red head. But I’d love to ask someone who defends race swaps why they have zero creativity and clap like a seal over this? Shouldn’t they be proving they can create a compelling story with an original character without crapping on great stories from the past?
I know but they act like that doesn’t happen. Remember when Ben Affleck was announced as Batman? A lot of my fellow comic book nerds went ballistic. Cavill got a lot of flack about how he played Superman at first. The thing is that nerds have always nitpicked. The shill media only covers it when it fits their narrative but there has always been nitpicking.
I think that's how so many got through. The nitpicking is so common that people just rolled their eyes and ignored it. They used nitpicking as a shield to prove the nerds are just annoying.
Good point. That along with the articles about evil nerds who ask “super obscure lore questions” when in reality it was a woman whining about not feeling welcome at a comic book store because she had a Spider-Man shirt on and some nerdy guy asked her if she read comics or what comics were her favorite
It's their standby. Declare something true and natural to be evil, decry anyone normal who does that thing, then ignore whenever their own team does the same thing.
I guess that was rhetorical because you are right. They whine about stories from a white western perspective (ignoring the fact that in western countries that is what you would expect) but you are right that nobody forces these people to make something original. As much as I love LOTR and Star Wars or Trek I’d love for them to be put on a shelf and force these people to make something new. Plus I’m sick of seeing great works crapped on by worthless hacks
Let's see, who's actually recognizable to general audiences...
K, Mary Jane, Ariel, Daphne: most iconic, already race swapped (maybe also Fiona if you count ogres as orcs...). They also forgot April O'Neil but I guess she's cannonically black now?
Misty and Nami: japanese, Tojo don't roll that way
The rest (that I recognize) haven't had remakes, or films really, in over 5 years, much longer for some. InB4 the black Flintstones remake.
I'm not really worried about representation, I'm more curious as to why movie studios seem obsessed with replacing Irish characters with black characters.
The brunettes or blonds in question dye their hair to play redheads, if they can make a black person look like a white redhead without looking incredibly strange due to facial structure then go for it.
The problem. Isn't the actor not looking like the character, it's the character not looking like the character. If the actor for Ariel looked like the character but they made her a reverse mermaid, painted her face black, her hair green, and sea weed tattoos on her limbs I would also have a problem with it.
Though I'm surprised their defense involves people who paint themselves to fit the role considering their opposition to blackface.
Can we just be honest and admit the problem is everyone hates niggers? Niggers don't belong in movies made by white people for white people. They never have.
As much as it seems like it now, that's not really the case. Black people are great in a lot of 80s action movies, the sergeant from Aliens for example.
The whole point is that they hate whites and redheads are the most obviously white one can be. Should start calling it "White erasure" since "diversity" really just means "no Whites".

From the Lilo and Stitch shitfit we also learned;
“It’s such a flawed argument because when a character is played by a darker person than the original none of these people complained. But when a character is played by a lighter person than the original, it’s suddenly ‘representation fail.’ Faggy-gen-Z-emoji. it’s beyond fake.”
Especially since the actress IS HAWAIIAN.
The actor too.
Ask them what percentage of the population is black, and I guarantee you'll get some stupidly high number. (Spoilers: It's around 13%)
Funny thing; Apparently the population of redheads in America is around 2 to 6 %.
Redheads are more of a minority than blacks. Stop the redheaded genocide.
Meanwhile it's 13% in Scotland and 12% in Ireland 💪🏻
Opinion discarded.
Doubly so when it's that furrybait bitch, Rouge.

In the UK they also change people to Indians (from India).

Ranma... dude. Dude!

We use stereotypes all the time, they're just using that to their advantage.
It's their standby. Declare something true and natural to be evil, decry anyone normal who does that thing, then ignore whenever their own team does the same thing.
Ask them to name even two famous redheaded characters that were retconned to be a blonde and a brunette. Then grab a drink cause it'll take a while.

It’s especially comical because in ten minutes when they switch to a different Twitter shitfit they’ll say “white people have no culture.”
I know. I used to try to debate these people but it’s pointless
Notice how it's all old shit?

Damn.. half of them are fappable.
And when they are palette swapped, likely none of them will be.
Its funny that most of the ones in the picture are more than 10 years old. Nothing much in the last 10 years.
Apparently Cleopatra was a redhead too, suddenly the blackwashing makes a little more sense.

Niggers were tolerable when they picked the absolute best one and they weren't too prominent. They absolutely never make anything better.
Bottom row, third from left. That's Will from W.I.T.C.H.
I will never forget how fucked-over that series got.
Sued into oblivion by its own knockoff.
The whole point is that they hate whites and redheads are the most obviously white one can be. Should start calling it "White erasure" since "diversity" really just means "no Whites".
This uh "argument" confuses me.
