The spirit of this age can be summed up by the mantra "Me, me, me, me."

Until that changes everything else doesn't matter.

Edit: Though I would be counted in those who fell off the "patriotism" bandwagon. I have no love for a country that hates me and everything I stand for.

I think that kinda highlights the problem? What's the point of going to church when the priest running it tells you to accept the globalist politics? What's the point of being patriotic when it means screwing over the actual people living in the country for profits of foreigners and globalists?

Why have children when you won't have the money or time to take care of them and they'll end up being indoctrinated and groomed by the broken public system (or the state will just take your kid away because politics)? Who is going to get involved in a community when all the actions allowed are just going to be globalist garbage (and it makes you more visible so you're more likely be targeted for getting mugged on the grounds that only well off people can afford to spend time like this)?

I'm not saying people shouldn't want children (they definitely should) but they aren't going to want children or to do other generally accepted things in a society that simply hates reason and values obedience to globalist doctrine.

At this point, it's less "me me me" and more "I'm not your patsy".

The custodians of most nations, churches and communities have all failed woefully, they've been corrupted from joint projects that everyone contributes to and benefit from, they're Ponzi schemes that enslave the common man for the sole benefit of some elitist asshole. It's not selfish to tell them to fuck off at this point, it's just good sense.

The not wanting kids one is a little greyer, but it's also understandable that people are not excited by the prospect of making all the necessary sacrifices to raise children, when the current trend in government is about walling you off from your kids and conditioning them to mutilate themselves and hate you.

The irony is that all of the narcissism and navel-gazing is accompanied by an unrelenting march to collectivism and identity politics.

You can thank the Baby Boomers for kicking that off.

Social media, revisionist history, and the “liberation of women”. Women don’t want kids when they can be modern Maenads until their ovaries shrivel and then they blame men for their poor choices. The complete destruction of factual evidence based history for subjective cherry picked history has people bending over backwards for “minorities” whose ancestors had no issue committing the same “atrocities” on a mass scale, the difference being that America and western societies were the first to stop and force those same “minorities” to stop even worse atrocities like actual genocide through mass rape and mass killings, along with slave castration.

Who, by the way, are NOT ashamed of the "atrocities" and in quite a few cases are quite proud of them. The only people ashamed of empire are white people. For the rest of the world (including some white peoples), it is a badge of honor.

the difference being that America and western societies were the first to stop and force those same “minorities” to stop even worse atrocities like actual genocide through mass rape and mass killings, along with slave castration.

Yup. Bernard Lewis pointed that out in his 1990 essay "The Roots of Muslim Rage".

Where [the West] is distinct from all other civilizations is in having recognized, named, and tried, not entirely without success, to remedy these historic diseases. And that is surely a matter for congratulation, not condemnation. We do not hold Western medical science in general, or Dr. Parkinson and Dr. Alzheimer in particular, responsible for the diseases they diagnosed and to which they gave their names.

Is this the US? I wonder who experienced most of the declines in patriotism from 2019 to 2023. I would assume people on the right - I've always found it strange that the US is most loved by people it hates the most.

It's because they hate us that we love it so; no other country would allow a segment of the population they despise so much to persist. If not rounded up, they would be socially and governmentally ostracized.

You love the USG because it despises you and does everything in its power to destroy you? Now that's some Stockholm Syndrome if ever I've seen it.

I'm NOT thankful that my government (Europe) isn't rounding me up (yet).

The American right lives with a constant reminder of the rights they have (though yes, these are constantly under attack), and that America is like no other country in the world.

You have no rights. Didn't you learn anything from January 6?

What rock have you been under my man?

They're sending feds to false flag smear you into social pariahs, entirely freezing you out of higher education and governance, and the justice system will hound you into destitution for a misdemeanor whilst letting people who murder people for wearing the wrong red cap walk free.

You are being systematically ostracized, and if that process ever successfully finishes getting rounded up is definitely the next possibility..

I think so too. The left was already demoralized in the 60's for different reasons, and have been working to tear down the country since then. This decade took care of everyone else, besides the college educated pseudo-elite midwits and the Sleepy Class of people who don't pay attention.

This is a problem that will eventually destroy western society.

Democrats are disillusioned because they actually think the nation is still not leftist enough for their tastes.

Republicans are disillusioned because they lament that the country has degenerated into such far leftism.

I don't think there is any solution to this problem.

I wonder if the rise in valuing money correlated with valuing hard work?

permalink save report block reply
▲ 6 ▼

Almost certainly not. Everyone has seen society is run by liars and cheats, living rich off the broken backs of fools. They know hard work means nothing if you don't have the power, and money is still power in its purest form.

Is this western country only and is this urban only or include rural areas?

As this definitely applies to urban areas but I still see those values strongly in rural areas.

I wonder is this the whole list of categories offered to choose from? Because while I don't think I'd pick money, I wouldn't pick most of these others either. Yeah, I've lost patriotism and interest in community involvement as my country and community have made me more and more of an enemy. If they'd offered choices of relationships with family and friends though, I'd be very much up on those.

I can see Community involvement being down if the context is volunteer/charity work. If the context were involvement via activism and social influencing, it's probably higher than ever before.

About one in three. Excellent, that's more than I'd hoped for and certainly more than enough to win the war.
