It truly amazes me, as an '08 Obama voter, just how much I have come to loathe that man.

I mean, at least in this case your other option was McCain. A man with an incredibly dirty history everyone was just pretending to ignore, who spent the rest of his life after making sure to screw the Right over.

In that sense, Obama was at least a chance of something better simply for being mostly unknown. McCain was a guarantee of bad.

True, but Obama's politicization of the federal government is largely responsible for where we are now.

McCain would have just been a typical corrupt establishment Republican. Probably single-term.

Hindsight being 20/20, I'd have much rather had McSame.

Obama already had a dismal, establishment voting record in the senate. I still hold a grudge against those that flopped from Paul to Obama or Sanders.

Ah, fair. I was still relatively not in the politics game then so to me and my family he was a complete unknown force.

I thank God I was barely too young to vote in 08 or I'd have the distinct displeasure of having once voted for him too.

I had a shirt for his 08 campaign, since that was the first election I could vote in.

God I wish I could take what I know now back to high school me.

I can understand that, I remember people thinking that Obama was going to bring us back to the blissful ignorance of the 90's when it felt like we were closer to world peace

He did win the Nobel Peace Prize. I don't remember peace in our time, but the science says it's true!

It's not like you get a lot of choices. On the ballot anwyays.

Obama was a senator almost without a record. that's part of why i think he was a deep state plant. Only the most paranoid were aware of that in 08. Was my experience. I wasn't aware. Although I didn't vote for obama.

They already got paid by library purchases (with your tax dollars) and globohomo foundations ordering pallets of books just to put it on the NY Times Bestsellers list.

It's disgusting. My library always used to skew a little left, but it's like the mask came fully off some point after 2016. I had no idea that so many anti-Trump books existed. Did you know that Stacey Abrams writes fiction novels? My library has them. They also have picture books about Rashida Tlaib, Pete Buttegieg, and other leftist politicians. And of course they have picture books about "gender identity."

The only thing that they haven't done is have a drag queen storytime, but I think it's only a matter of time.

The only people who ever buy those books are people creating documentaries and podcasts, with an early rush for journos looking for dirt.

They aren't meant for mainstream consumption and are entirely meant to siphon money to the person.

amazing how a guy who made his career making music about working class struggles is also one of the most out of touch elitist snobs

See also: Billy Bragg.

Or arguably Elvis Costello, too…

Or like any “working class” British actor pretty much of the last 20 years (and beyond)…

Point is, this is more common than you might think, tbh…

I don't think that the vast majority of rockstars grow up mentally past their late teens/early twenties. They live a lifestyle that allows them to be Peter Pan forever. They can spend their days partying and doing drugs, with a manager to babysit them and handle all the adult decisions.

I still love rock and metal, and have ever since I really got into classic rock in middle school. But that makes me acutely aware as I grow older, people who seemed really smart when I was younger, seem dumber than a sack of bricks as I approach them in age.

I think Michael Moore takes the cake(no pun intended), went from documenting the impact of globalization destroying Detroit's economy to shilling for establishment political candidates.

He still dresses like a typical fat NPC in the cereal aisle at Wal-Mart as if hes fooling anybody that hes totally not a multi millionaire with multiple homes and armed bodyguards.

Obama’s post-presidential lack of grace, and just general narcissism and fame-whoring really has been something to behold…

For someone who spends a great deal of time critiquing “celebrity as president”, he really has come to epitomize “ex president as celebrity”…

It’s so incredibly cringe. Springsteen, while annoying as fuck in his own right, should probably frankly know better…

Springsteen is the epitome of blue collar grifter music. He makes the entire country genre look wholesome in comparison.

"I see a woman killing a man"

While it happens sometimes, it is quite rare. Women are much more likely to leave you and screw you our of your money and belongings than kill you.
