I went into a gaming store today for some Christmas shopping. The door said "Masks Required" but I assumed it had just been left up. I enter and the proprietor says, "Masks are in the box." I say, "Oh, masks are still required?" Answer, yes.
I turn to my kid and say, "Ok, we'll go back out."
As I turn to leave, the owner immediately gets upset and yells "Well EXCUSE ME for not wanting to die. I'm immunocompromised, I want to stay healthy, THANKS FOR CARING."
It's worth noting that the owner appeared to be some non-binary blobfish of a human. Honestly no idea if he or she. If s/he REALLY wanted to be healthy, xer would lose about 75 lbs.
That's pretty much the craziest covid interaction I've ever had.
I have noticed that too. My city had a mask mandate until early in 2022. Up till that point, if the business asked me to mask, I did. I haven't worn a mask since then, and I don't intend to.
Full disclosure, I DID wear a mask on an airplane, but that was because the dude I was sitting next to smelled like dog shit.
I am not a fan even if it is just someone choosing it because every person that does that inches closer to this becoming a permanent festering wound on the culture like it is in many Asian countries.

The masked, vaxed 5++ ( with flu vax ) in my family keep getting respiratory viruses, including the gain of function darling of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The longer you manage to delay, by avoiding people and not breathing inside with other people ( masks don't work in the grand scheme of things ), the lazier your immune system gets, and your vulnerability to smaller and smaller viral load exposures grow.
And when you do get exposed to a contaminating viral load, your rusty immune system is less prepared and it hits harder. Immunity dept is the coined term for that observed phenomena. ( Glossing over all the seasonal patterns to vulnerability to respiratory viruses that "experts" are still totally incapable to include in their "models", when they don't flat-out deny it exists. )
Injections is not a substitute to natural exposure, otherwise the quadruple-injected+ would have lower infection rates. But they have higher infection rates.

Washington State went into another masked and closed time. I don't know all the details and everyone there seems ok with it. Meanwhile people in Florida think the lockdown was 6 months long and then they had masks for a little while longer.

Honestly, he could probably have picked up the box the masks were in and (if it was still the box the masks came in) showed the non-binary blobfish a printed label on it saying "not intended for use against covid-19" or something similar. Because most mask boxes have that on them. Then the transgression would be it's fault.
I would have worn the mask and just kept touching and adjusting it throughout a faux convo just to see if XEY would notice.
When I get this reaction I immediately turn around and try to ruin their day. I've caused a proprietor to actually shut down the store for the day with my shit talking. Some people say this makes me an asshole and they're correct. But these people hate me, would do worse to me if they had the strength, and if they're that willingly weak they deserve it.

I wore a mask today, but that's because I'm in the tail-end of a cold/flu/COVID/whatever. Constantly coughing into my elbow is more annoying than coughing into a mask.

I don't have the source at hand, but at some point a hospital stopped using surgical masks and the number of infections did not change. Even in the context of their intended usage surgical masks are likely just a security blanket.
I honestly don't see a use to surgical masks beyond preventing arterial spray from entering your nose and mouth, same reason for wearing eye protection. Masks don't work for airborne particles that are smaller than water vapor (literally all viruses).
Shit's cheaper online anyway. Really no reason to patronize stores anymore.
When I had the Rona I felt like shit, masks helped in no fucking way of me catching it, masks still don't help anyone, especially if you have a beard they're pointless, I'm surprised no one has called for all people with big beards to shave....yet, maybe I shouldn't give them any ideas.
