They want to take your guns because they're about to do something that you would shoot them for.
The logic works like this:

the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Apparently “the people” is not US citizens… this is so beyond disingenuous
So the gun rights aren't there for personal self-defense, but to help us create and arm militias?
Your terms are acceptable.
Looks like posses are back on the menu, boys.
I'm honestly just waiting for a bunch of actual more far right people (note, far right, not made up 'alt right' bs) to just start hanging a bunch of lefty faggots and remove the cancer. I'm not going to cry any tears for them.
There are Regulator chapters popping up in Alabama and Georgia. I'm honestly waiting for some Antifa soyboy to wander out of Bombingham or Hotlanta and encounter someone who is totally willing to be judge, jury and executioner...
They'd simply twist the words further, saying something like "Only the government can create and regulate a militia, and currently they say no militias allowed!"
The people are the militia. Full stop.
The word regulated is a synonym for "orderly", not a synonym of "bureaucratic establishment by the state".
This is why the US Military refers to the general population of the United States, as a fighting force, as "The Unorganized Militia".
Worded for modern times:
Oh, agreed, but these people are just not interested in accurately representing the US Constitution. Given that - as recent reverses have demonstrated - they cannot go around it, their next best hope is to change the English language itself until it no longer holds the same meaning.
These people are genuinely taking 1984 as an instruction manual.
What is sad is how many of these morons are college "educated", and even worse is how many of them are in elected offices or judges.
It takes an academic to be truly stupid.
Sure seems like it.
Credentialed, that's a good term for it.
Tell me that you don't know the Bill of Rights without telling me that you don't know the Bill of Rights.
The phrase "the people" is used in five of the amendments. No one has ever argued that the right of the people to "peaceably to assemble" or "to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects" is referring to the state as a collective of the people and not individuals. If there was any doubt, the 10th Amendment clearly distinguishes between, federal government, state government, and the people.
These shitheads only say that the people are the state for the 2d Amendment, because pretending the words written on the paper don't mean what they plainly say is necessary for their gun control schemes to withstand legal scrutiny.
Most of these people have no clue how the Constitution of the United States even works.
And by that I mostly mean these "super smart, educated" progressives.
I am 100% convinced leftism ruins your ability to understand context, it happens time and time again.
Contextually when it was written, 'well regulated' equated to 'well equipped', in otherwords the militia had to be packing good firearms, which included shit rifles (still single shot, but rifles were state of the art back then).
Leftists don't understand that 'militia' is literally civilians with guns, that's how retarded they are.
So the "anti establishment" left is now saying that only the military should be allowed to have guns? That worked out so well in every anti gun socialist country.
Someone should also tell these morons that the military and the police are not body guards, self defense is an individuals responsibility as well as it being a necessity in general, its so dumb how this has to be a left vs right thing when it should be common sense that wanting to protect yourself as well as your family is important.
Doesn't matter though, these aristocrats live in gated communities with no diversity and violent crime, so guns don't matter to them (even if they have armed bodyguards).
They were never anti establishment.
They were anti morality. So long as the establishment was moral, they were against it.
It is funny how the people that cry the most about police violence and institutional racism, are so interested in making it so that those institutions and the police are the only ones that can conduct violence.
Exactly, lets end the militarization of police by only letting the police have all the guns
Every single man above the age of 18 is in a militia right now at this moment. It's called Selective Service, aka the draft.
The same applies to many of the state constitutions as well.
Not my fault the writers at Vox are so brain-dead retarded that they can't understand linguistic drift of a statement written near three hundred years ago.
This isn't really up for debate. Political scholars and politicians of the time write over and over and fucking over about how the second amendment should be interpreted, and it basically boils down to 'all free men should be armed'.
"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.... The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun." - Patrick Henry, Speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 5, 1778
Bish. I am the militia.
THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE
It's not "the right of the militia", it's the right of THE PEOPLE.
What's more, this argument has been debunked for DECADES. Here's a linguistic breakdown of the 2nd Amendment from 1993. Just shy of 30 years ago. Oh look, it too confirms that it's the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
But it doesn't matter. These people know they're wrong. They've seen the arguments, they see the logic and rationale, they just don't care.
Vox is angling for their next donation now that FTX is bust.
Don't even need to do that, just remove certain areas of some cities, and the murder and gun violence stats will drop drasticly.
It's specifically 3 cities. Chicago, New York and San Fran. It's no coincidence that they're also the cities with the most stringent gun control laws.
Can't forget Washington DC as well, amazing how much gun violence there is there.
Guess banning regular citizens from carrying guns doesn't work for some reason, whodathunkit.
True, that does have a high impact as well, but even just the top three make a massive dent. Taking out politician central would take the average lower again, and we can't have that.
Remove one region from my state and it shoots up to middle of the pack
Pretty much the same for the state I live in.
Betting you're southern
Yep, barely am, but I are.
I mean… not during the removal lol
The preceding was a joke.
The Rhodesians and South Africans Showed us the way.
panel van painted in KFC colors drives by
They're removing themselves, just not fast enough
They are breeding with enemy sleepers fast enough.
Actually, it's just a few urban areas really. Remove Chicago, New York and San Fran, and violent crime on the whole (so that includes gun crime AND other crime) goes down to average international levels. Note, those are also the cities with some of the most stringent gun control in all of the United States.
Also most people would still have their hubcaps.
Now we just need to press the advantage against the hoplophobes and authoritarians.
