Yeah, this is like watching your Alzheimer's-riddled grandpa finally die. You remember the good times, but you know it's for the best. He's not who he used to be.
Anime is in a golden age. Dozens of shows are coming out every season, and even the mediocre ones are all looking as good as the shows that used to score 9/10 masterpieces.
And Anime does not include an homosexual, a tranny and a black skinned character in all episodes. Maybe a couple of episodes have them, but not as a matter of policy.
Invincible is great (Amazon). How can Amazon make such a great show on one hand and then shit out Lawd dem Rangz on the other hand with a $1BILLION budget? Insane.
tl;dr: Steven Universe and it's consequences have been a disaster for the animation industry.
I have no idea how that damn show became so popular. It wasn't funny, it took forever for the story to actually get going, it kept dipping into forced melodrama, the characters were annoying, and the art style was ugly (and this was before the CalArts style became the cancer it is today). Hell, even the network seemed to be trying to kill it with how they erratically aired and paused the seasons. By all accounts, it should have been canceled after two seasons at most. Granted, I never did get the appeal of any of Cartoon Network's typical stoner cartoons, which Steven Universe didn't seem any different from on the outset, but even on that criteria, people had to have been getting sick of that type of show already.
As someone who enjoyed it early on before the frog boiled, it was very much a patented J.J. Abrams' mystery box. The show teased lots of interesting ideas and concepts before revealing the most boring, basic explanations for everything.
Pretty much every time I saw Cartoon Network running on a TV, it would play the same three or so shows, with occasional reruns
Teen Titans Go is pennies to make compared to most shows and they get huge returns on it. Its honestly just business/capitalism once the soul has left, because it makes sense as much as anyone hates it.
You bring up Steven Universe but even that show was famous at its peak for literally never getting aired, and spending most of its shelf life with zero reruns. They'd make a spectacle of a small 4 episode arc airing, and that would be most of the show's entire air time for the year.
Honestly, I think the biggest issue is that the cheap animation done by things like Youtubers have enthralled children to such a level that places like Cartoon Network could never hope to keep up.
Tim and Eric are peak Reddit humor: unstructured nonsense that relies entirely on cues so the audience knows when to pretend it's funny. It's like a hyper-literal autist read the Wikipedia article for surrealism and thought "yes, I can do that".
It's so fucking bad I seriously wonder if the entire thing isn't a no soap radio kind of thing at the audience's expense.
Never forget that for all their willingness to act cool and edgy, Tim had such a hissy fit about Million Dollar Extreme being allowed on his channel he whined until it was cancelled.
Thank God Primal finished airing and wrapped up its story. Tartakovsky must have known what was happening, which was why he opted to end it on a very conclusive note rather than keep it going. If only more show writers would do that.
Over the last decade, CNS produced shows such as Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universe, Clarence, Over the Garden Wall, We Bare Bears, Craig of the Creek, Summer Camp Island, Infinity Train, and Primal, to name just a few. Conversely, WBA’s lineup has been focused on catalog characters, including titles such as Batwheels, Bugs Bunny Builders, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, Teen Titans Go!, Jellystone!, Animaniacs, Looney Tunes Cartoons, Harley Quinn, Justice League Action, and The Tom and Jerry Show.
And they used to do such great work...
EDIT: I mean stuff like Dexter's Laboratory.

Headline from 2023: "Cartoon Network Studios is being reborn and their first show will be Dexter's Faggotory - here's why that's a good thing"
only the parts with Tartakovsky, once Savino took over it turned to shit.

Western animation is shit though.

And even when it comes to homosexuals, they're more played for fanservice than for societal statements.
Kadokawa took the Larry Fink money.
Did it? Where's the subversion? Pretty much every show is a faithful adaptation of a manga or light novel.
It takes a while for shows to get made.
But now that they have a "Diversity and Inclusion" section on their website, it's only a matter of time.
Subversion is hostility.
Well if it comes to that, at least I'll have a giant back catalogue to work with it
Since we're on the subject of anime, Spy Family has been excellent so far. Probably the best of the season in my opinion.
Not surprised, the manga was/is very good.
Now that I should try to get a hold of, see if I can't find a scanlation online somewhere.
Buy official where possible, when the product is good.
I agree, it'll make a good Christmas present for the missus.

It race-swapped his girlfriend. Woke.
by what standards is that great? that i only have to fast forward half of it?

Lol I can't believe they managed to kill that cash cow but here we are

You don't think this is comedy genius?: https://youtu.be/YtPejSMy66k
Yeah you'd definitely have to be a retarded pothead to find that funny

A good and complete show will always be a good and complete show.
A good show that is left unfinished is always tarnished with that unfinished label.
So definitely no Primal Season 3...
It ended at a reasonable point.
I'd say why I liked the end of season 2, but I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it.
I will say that it's not woke.
Season 1 was better than Season 2 IMO, and the finale of the show as...Really shite.
At least I still have adult swim to watch several shows in a row that are about women who are birds
Women who are birds? Wait, what's this about?
My favorite women-who-are-birds show is Princess Tutu, and that's just a solid anime about ballet. But it is surprising that it's a whole genre.
I think Zaslav doesn't want to go broke
At one time I would've lamented this....
But now...
Get Rekt
And nothing of worth was lost, not a single show.
Over the Garden Wall was good. Primal too.
You didn't like Primal?
