Recall that the whole "Trump is a demagogue who appeals to racist huwite supremacists" narrative exploded with the "Mexicans are rapists and murders" fake news. Before that they were just treating him like a clown. Previously the Obama birth certificate controversy had generated a few of those stories, but from my memory it was only places like MSNBC and NPR pushing a rayciss angle.
Then the third attack vector was the "he equivocated!" bullshit about the Unite the Right march, which mainly confirmed what some people already believed. Same with "it's a Muslim ban!'
I don't mention that for any particular reason. They would have found something to get at him with no matter what. Just pointing out how easy it is for the cathedral to latch on to the tiniest thing and use that to set the world against you. Nobody is immune.
That was the moment when I started taking him seriously. Not because of what he said, but the fact that I had actually watched that speech and remembered that he never said that. It got me thinking "if he's so bad, why do they have to lie about the bad things he does?" It basically cemented him as a threat to the establishment in my eyes.
Yeah lying about things like that gives a few cues. Either they are getting irrationally angry that they will just make up things to try and suppress it, or there is an organized campaign to spread disinformation for narrative control, or some amount of both.
DeSantis has his own lobby and he knows who pats his back, but he definitely got some people upset with this incident.
it was quite amused seeing the npc-update spread on my fav funny-image-site. all the leftie-bots started sharing the same screencap of an article showing how they totally helped those 50 illegals 'haha owned drumpftard' and everything.
was hilarious watching the right-extremist base of users relentlessly mocking them, some even deleted their accounts.
If you watch man on the street interviews on YouTube, the number one reason people don’t like Trump is “he’s a racist”. Hundreds of millions of people worldwide believe this to be true, and it’s based on three demonstrable lies spun by the media.
They can do this to anyone at any time.
The problem is that Trump enabled them by playing right into their hands.
Trump couldn't resist saying unnecessary comments or making stupid tweets.
If Trump had a little more discipline and better personnel selection skills, he would still be in the White House today despite any "fortification" attempts.
His tweeting sadly gave credence to false media narratives about him.
The media has already started to do the same treatment to Ron DeSantis but it won't be nearly as effective.
DeSantis is much more disciplined, better at personnel selection and he doesn't have Trump's character flaws.
Trump's vocabulary and his personal life makes it easy to demonize him.
It is much harder to demonize a well-spoken veteran and family man like Ron DeSantis.
Trump's Generals went on record after the fact saying they were straight up lying to him about troop withdrawals from Afghanistan. Something he would be incapable of verifying unless he himself flew there and did a head-count.
And of course while he did that there'd be at least a dozen other government heads lying to him about something else which he'd have to personally verify. There is no one person on earth who can bring an organization that size to heel if they have decided to act maliciously: the nature of organizations of that size requires that its hierarchy generally acts in good-faith towards a particular goal. To quote some ancient wisdom: a house divided against itself cannot stand.
When Nancy Pelosi files Articles of Impeachment against DeSantis for withholding pay from the FBI, and Mitch McConnel goes on TV and agrees with her for doing so because "Republicans support our Law Enforcement", what is his plan? Is he going to do what Trump didn't and cross the Rubicon? What evidence is there he would be willing to do this? What army does he command that enables him to do so?
Make no mistake: they will demonize him. See: frequent Daily Show guest and friend John McCain once he dared run against Obama. Or Trump himself, who was a friend and guest on the late night shows until it became obvious he took his campaign seriously.
What the bureaucracy did to Trump during his Presidency is absolutely appalling. No one is ignoring that.
However Trump made matters worse by relying on the counsel of snakes like Jared Kushner and Mark Meadows.
During the whole year of 2020 with regards to COVID, Trump deferred to Fauci and Birx and didn't even think to consult any outside sane experts like Jay Bhattarcharya.
Ron DeSantis followed the national guidance at the start but a few months later he consulted Jay Bhattarcharya and other members of the Great Barrington declaration and made a name for himself.
DeSantis even admitted that he made a mistake during the start of COVID. This humility is what is needed in a leader.
Meanwhile just last month, Trump still says he saved millions of lives with his lockdowns and Operation Warpspeed.
Trump's after election legal team was a joke and was led by Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis. They majorly dropped the ball on communicating the problems of the elections.
One of Trump's fatal flaws is personnel selection. Even if every outside factor was against him, he unfortunately made things worse for himself by listening to the absolutely worst people.
Let's compare Trump and DeSantis on two dimensions: IQ and character. DeSantis is clearly superior to Trump with regards to both of these dimensions. We can do much better than a 78 year old Trump in 2024.
They are already demonizing DeSantis and it won't work as good as it did on Trump.
I admit that DeSantis is not a magical hero who will solve all our problems sure.
I am not saying he is a one man fix.
My point is that DeSantis doesn't have Trump's character flaws and is drastically better at not taking the media's bait and he has a proven record of being better at personnel selection.
In the specific scenario that you presented, what would Trump even do?
He would merely tweet something and proceed to do nothing. He sure as hell won't be crossing any Rubicon. We saw what he did during the BLM riots. He tweeted law and order and did nothing. We saw what he did after the fortified election.
Trump is not the man that the hour calls for.
2024 is not the time to nominate a 78 year old man who focuses more on style than substance.
If I wanted someone to entertain me I would pick Trump.
What we need is someone serious and capable of remaining focused on achieving policy objectives.
DeSantis is undoubtedly better suited for that role.
Argue all you want against Trump and I will agree with you: he took his shot, and he missed. OK, granted. I have been saying that since 2020: If Trump is not in the White House on January 21, 2021 he loses my support. He isn't there, so...
But now you have to make a positive argument that DeSantis will make the shot that Trump missed. How's he going to deal with the lying Generals? While simultaneously dealing with lying heads of every other Executive branch? If he deals with the lying Generals the same way he dealt with public school administrators in Florida (withholding pay), how's he going to deal with Mitch McConnel siding with Nancy Pelosi when the Dems try to remove him for doing that because "that's not the right way to do it" or whatever BS excuse they'll use? They impeached Trump over a phone call where he exposed Obama admin corruption in Ukraine: why wouldn't they impeach DeSantis over withholding pay from Executive branch staff?
Trump thought that based on his ability to exercise authority in industry that he could go into DC and command that same level of authority. He was wrong. DeSantis supporters strike me as making that same sort of categorical error: that his ability to exercise authority in Tallahassee will translate in DC. I don't see that being the case and in fact see plenty of evidence to the contrary.
The nominee in 2024 can either be Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump again. There are no other candidates who even have a shot at winning the nomination.
I think I have already made the case for why nominating DeSantis is better than nominating Trump again.
I don't expect DeSantis to run D.C. like he ran Tallahasse. The problems in D.C. are at an institutional level. It is not possible to fix it magically through the actions of one man.
It is possible to chip away at the bureaucracy by focusing on clear policy objectives instead of blustering and grandstanding on social media.
What do I expect from a DeSantis presidency?
I expect DeSantis to hire actual competent people.
I expect him to chip away at the powers of the bureaucracy using all the power available to him.
I expect him to not care about what the media says about him and not to waste time arguing with them.
I expect him to not unnecessarily tweet out random comments that makes him unpalatable to large swathes of the electorate.
I don't expect him to be a modern Julius Caesar.
You seem to want a modern day Julius Caesar.
We are not going to be getting that regardless which of the two candidates available that we nominate.
DeSantis offers us a better shot at fixing the major problems plaguing the nation than a 78 year old Trump.
You can only pick between the options available.
In my eyes, the choice is simple.
I want FedGov discredited and have been quite consistent in my opinion that the country is better off with DeSantis as Governor of Florida and Biden as President than DeSantis as President and someone like Jeb! as Governor of Florida.
I want every Red state to look at DeSantis and ask itself why they don't have one. I want every Red county in a Blue state to ask itself why they don't have one as Sheriff. And I think that is why certain interests want DeSantis to run for President: because if he's not Governor it's easier to pretend leaders like him can't exist on the right. Because he's undoubtedly effective where he is, and I don't think he will be nearly as effective in DC.
I think the institutional rot is so awful that we need four years of Trump and eight years of Desantis.
Are you… are you retarded? The entire point of this thread is to demonstrate that it doesn’t matter what you say or do, if the media wants to label you a bigot, they can and will do so. The three most popular pieces of “evidence” that Trump is racist were all literally fabricated by the media. They can and will do the same thing to Desantis.
Here’s what I will give you: people are less likely to fall for the exact same strategies a second time, so Desantis might benefit from Trump springing all of the media traps ahead of him.
You have missed my point entirely.
The media accusations won't stick as easy if the target doesn't make it easy for them.
They fabricated three large lies about Trump but Trump kept taking the bait and making more and more poorly worded statements on various topics making it easy for dumb normies to believe the lies.
DeSantis wouldn't replicate this behavior.
The media are long past the point of just lying to make something sufficiently spicy to ryn with.
They have to aggressively defend their narrative that UtR was a white supremacist-led shoah of peaceful antifae.
I should be horrified, they say. I proudly advocate for a minefield at the southern border, and standing federal bounties for illegals.
Im supposed to be horrified that these animals got dumped in the laps of the stuck up Karens who encourage them to invade us? Get fucked liberals, the sooner you freaks are piled up in a hole the sooner sanity and decency can return to civilization.
Tom Nichols is one of several blood-crazed psychopathic neocons who was screaming his lungs out for more blood, always more blood, all the way to the filthy finish line of America's disastrous twenty-year project in Afghanistan, at which point he denounced the entire American population as cowards for not sending more soldiers to die there for the glory & wealth of the CIA and military-industrial complex. Incidentally he has never served a day in any branch of the US military himself, not that this has stopped him from somehow becoming a professor of strategy at the Naval War College.
How this demon in human skin and his cohorts still have a job, much less a job where they can spit and hurl insults at a far better man than themselves, is beyond me. Were I an advisor to DeSantis, I'd be telling the good governor to respond by shipping no small number of homeless and mutilated veterans of the War on Terror to Nichols' doorstep, so he can explain why his eagerness to get them killed was only exceeded by his eagerness to drop them like hot potatoes when they returned maimed from the war he spent 20 years cheerleading for to their faces.
Nichols sounds like Max (Jack) Boot.
Max "Neocon" Bootlicker is a refugee who should be sent back to the hellhole he came from.
He was right. Not only AQ now owns Afghanistan, which it didn't 21 years ago (they were only guests of the Taliban, now they're the same), they're also in the process of conquering the nuclear armed Pakistan and with designs on the Central Asia (starting with Uzbekistan).
Haqqani, whose father came up with the idea of 9/11 in first place, even set up the old idiot Zawahiri to be blown up by the Americans in his (Haqqani's) house in Kabul. Now, The Organization is led by a genius of jihad - with an official Twitter account, and many billions of dollars of the American military investment (also including thousands of special forces and intelligence personnel of the previous government with all their insider knowledge).
And the Americans haven't been been losing any men almost at all, for years, before the support for Afghanistan was cut. Afghan government losses after 2015 have been nearly 1,000 times larger than these of the foreign support personnel and, as he notes, the Americans didn't care at all (and often didn't even know it goes on, as there were less than 2 hours of Afghanistan news on 5 biggest American TV networks combined in half decade). They suddenly "cared" when both Dems and Reps lied to them about how Afghanistan is ready to hold out without these just couple thousand Americans already in the county, droning the baddies and servicing the Afghan aircraft in the completely secure Bagram Airbase. No one was talking about any "more soldiers" for any other purpose, it was all that was needed for the ultimately decided containment strategy to work.
Meanwhile the badly weakened Islamic State is in the process of revival (or "remaining and expanding", as their slogan says), but has shifted its center of gravity to the Black Africa where they thrive. If they ever do merge again, they will be literally unstoppable.
It didn't have to be like that.
The Taliban had already been inching into the former Northern Alliance strongholds which had previously never fallen to them, long before 2021. Perhaps if the Coalition had been a bit more insistent about not tolerating rampant corruption and habitual child rape among the warlords it called allies and partners, this wouldn't have happened, but then if the Coalition did that it may never have found anyone to work with in Afghanistan.
Oh well. I'm quite content not to be sending any form of contribution, either in the blood of my countrymen or my own tax dollars, to prop up a wholly unrepresentative regime of child-raping warlords who exist primarily to give cover to massive human & drug trafficking rings and deny Globohomo's geopolitical enemies strategically positioned territory. It is no surprise to me that the most backward Islamic parts of the world, which consistently demonstrate a high willingness to kill basically anyone who remotely violates the tenets of Islam in any fashion from adultery to blasphemy to apostasy, would want to live under backward Islamist regimes. That isn't something I believe any more Western blood or gold should be spent on withholding, especially when it's obvious that doing so would mandate an indefinite commitment from us.
Defeating globohomo at home and securing our borders (by which I mean the lands of and waters around the Americas) should be our geopolitical priority, not waging forever wars in wastelands on the other side of the planet where the people have already violently resisted the approach of civilization for centuries. To paraphrase the words of the Emperor Honorius to the Romano-British after they propped up a chain of usurpers against him, perhaps the rest of the world ought to start looking to their own defenses.
Also, none of this changes the reality that Tom Nichols is a disgusting chickenhawk who cheerleads for wars and shames others for daring to not want to go die in them or fill his weapon-manufacturing friends' pockets with their money even though he's never been a soldier, any sort of REMF, or probably even ever held a gun in anger once in his life.
Containment was based on holding district centers, military bases (outpost could be estabilished or abandoned), border crossings, and the major routes between all of these. The government held it all by the time Trump released thousands of Taliban prisoners and entered "peace talks" with them. Now they are set to systematically conquer half of the world and attack the rest.
They keep trying to tell me how to feel, but I feel such a level of mirth it brings a smile to my face.
When will they realize that we do in fact get great pleasure from them suffering the consequences of their own actions?
DeSantis is the best politician in America right now.
He is pragmatic and laser-focused on achieving the most important policy issues of stopping the biomedical state, wokeness and illegal immigration.
If Trump was the wrecking ball swinging blindly, DeSantis is the scalpel cutting precisely.
I will always give Trump credit for realigning the political landscape in terms of the GOP focusing on winning working class and blue collar workers and moving away from Bush neoconservativism
Every future GOP candidate will now be required to have a policy of no more wars in the Middle East and no more tax cuts for globalist corporations.
We need someone disciplined to fight back against the globalist left.
We need calm and serious calculated action not funny tweets and political rallies replaying the issues of yesterday.
The media has clearly started hammering DeSantis hard but DeSantis has demonstrated that he knows how to deal with it. It is looking clear that DeSantis won't make the same mistakes that Trump did.
DeSantis gives me hope that the right has at least one competent leader.
DeSantis: "You want them so badly, you have them."
A founding member of a foundation who helps refugees: "WTF IS THIS TRASH?"
They never attacked Trump until he ran as a Republican.
i'm horrified that you won't close the border entirely. i don't care about anything you have to say about it until not one person comes through.
"Sadistic" LOL

They're trying to spin that he wanted the migrants to suffer, and not the rich cunts on Martha's Vineyard.
