I think we need more punishments for crimes to be publicly visible. The people who do this sort of thing need stimulus that will affect their lizard brain because they lack the higher cognitive functions required for decision making and reasoning that would otherwise lead them to avoid behaving like this in the first place.

Jokes aside, I’m pretty sure Apu DID get retired as a character, no? They didn’t replace the voice actor with anyone else, probably because they think it’s “demeaning” for a guy with a funny Indian accent to do a.... funny Indian accent.

Here's a Simpsons character who should be retired and replaced by a noble pee-of-see: Snake. It makes no sense why a white thug who talks like a surfer dude would be seen committing so many crimes like he does and getting away with it. His replacement should be a black man named Dawg who speaks ebonics. That makes a lot more sense and more properly reflects the world we live in. Plus, the fact that he's black would explain why he keeps on getting out of prison and put back on the streets no matter how many crimes he commits.
Hard to know if the shop clerk COULD have done anything else if he's got the drop on him and got the gun trained on him the entire time making it hard to pull a gun out in response
If robbery in general is so prolific in these areas, might be best just to close all these stores down and have them set up as a one way collection place where you order and collect (as I wouldn't put it past them to start targeting delivery drivers).
