It's even called "actual foods". Like they need to emphasize "hey this is real food guys don't worry".

I didn't know such companies existed. Welp.

Yeah, this is not "ring the alarm bells" territory. This is "wow, there's people fucking stupid enough to eat this shit" territory. Shitty labeling, but it's a small Canadian company and a local brand. Canada is already cucked, but these aren't being made en masse - a few stores there have it but it's not being "slipped" in.

achtually...

To be fair, it does say "powered by crickets" on the front. But lol at "actuallyfoods" being actually vermin.

I’m actually a former vegan of 8 years (pls no bully) so I’ll start vigilantly reading ingredient lists again if I have to, it’s not too much of a bother once you get used to it.

Actually been taking note of what has soybean oil in it.. its like all condiments now, been trying to avoid those. Soybean oil in particular is easy because it’s usually one of the top ingredients (they’re listed by proportion in the states if u didnt know).

Pretty much all prepared food has one of the highly processed oils (soy, rapeseed, corn, etc...) in them. Sometimes even the stuff that claims it's made with something like olive or avocado oil won't be 100% of that and will still have one of the processed oils in the ingredient list.

Corn is especially notorious. That shit is EVERYWHERE.

lol i know just scanning through ingredients lists was a huge part of it, felt tangentially related

yep, i said exactly this will happen. they will do this, only list it in the 6pt font in the ingredients list or use some archaic scientific/latin name or some word-smithed other name like "bio-enriched flour".

if they wont willingly eat the bugs, we will force them

For what it's worth, I hear insects aren't kosher.

I suppose following kosher labeling would, when in doubt, ensure you're avoiding crickets.

Yep. They'll try it, someone with an allergy will sue the everloving shit out of them, and it'll be dead in the water. They might try settling a few times, but there's no way that works long term. ESG has a lot of money, but they don't have THAT much money.

“Actually Food”

Actuallyfoods isn't trying to sneak anything in, they are very loud and proud about using cricket protein.

Nobody is going to be trying to sneak bugs into a mainstream product.

Always remember the bugs go in whole, including their intestines and their contents. If you eat bugs, you also eat bug excrement.

Organic is only good for certain fruits and that's just because the non-organic varieties have had their sugar genes turned off to keep them from spoiling/last longer, so no flavor.
