Someone who actually cared if their work is well-received or not, successful or not, would say something instead like "we know our work's genre might not resonate with all audiences, but we're confident with the result and encourage everyone to at least give it a try. But if it's not for you, well, it's not for you."
Who knows? But whether it is or not, there's PG-13 rape scenes in movies, it's all on how the scene is shot. Excessive gratuitousness and fan disservice can significantly change a scene's impact, for sure, but usually not in the right way.
