It did occur to me recently when I discovered that I have a better life as TESCO warehouse worker than a starter white collar job anywhere else. Despite seemingly earning less I have a better quality of life than some cultured london posh cunts.
I don't have to put up with knife crime in my neighbourhood.
My rent is only 1/3 instead 2/3 of my monthly paycheck and it could drop even lower if I decided to get myself a mortgage over a mobile home.
My neighbourhood has some patches of greenery and flora instead of a brutalist depressing concrete jungle.
My work is chill (literally and figuratively) because too many snobs are too good to pick boxes in a +1C environment for 7.5 hours. No pressure, no haste, no deadlines, no sense of being a disposable grunt.
I can cycle to works and don't have to suffocate myself in a damp tube on a daily basis.
My physical work doesn't require special education I didn't had to burden myself with a crippling college debt.
The nearest supermarket is 3 miles away but that doesn't matter anymore because all of them offer home delivery.
Because most of the entertainment today is through internet, you are just entertained as a city dweller so long as your ISP can pull a fibre cable in your area. The price difference is big while the service is the same.
It all boils down to being about rural vs urban living where urban no longer has the opportunities and perks that make it worth putting up with.
Someone who doesn't give a rat ass about climbing social hierarchy is living the good life straight away out of the box compared to someone who has to.

I wish I knew that when I was younger. I knew this guy who worked construction in Australia. He would work for 6 month and then for the other 6 month he spent exploring the world.
Another example is a girl I used to work with she left her corporate job to make flower arrangements for weddings and she has never been happier, has a kid lost weight and she is her own boss.
I told myself I'll do my kids a favor that I never had, get them to explore all the jobs that are out there before deciding what career to follow.

My friend is a truck driver, many times immigrants will come here and just declare they have a commercial license and the government grants them one no questions asked. No tests or anything. Put them in the front seat of an 18 wheeler and off they go. So many accidents are the result of minority drivers it's ridiculous.
