There's some decent stuff on Dailymotion. Music, old TV shows, etc.

Odysee is also pretty good for hobby videos. There is a lot of political content, but also content that isn't explicitly political, but still not welcome on YouTube: guns hobbyists, survivalists, that kind of thing.

Rumble if you enjoy having your politics interspersed with videos of cute puppers.

+1 for Odysee. I've been surprised at the amount of normie content on there that I sometimes watch on youtube, like retro gaming/emulation and techie-type stuff.

I was expecting it to all be fringe political stuff like bitchute is and was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't. Probably a good sign for its long-term chances for survival.

Another vote for Odysee. The quality is quite good and the selection of content is much more diverse, as mentioned.

Another thing I like is that it takes “credits” to post videos to Odysee which I think keeps the low quality AI created content at bay.

Rumble is hosted in Canada, which will be censoring it with Bill-C10 when that passes (again)

Odysse and Bitchute provide an auto-upload from YouTube feature, so many of the videos on them are made for YouTube (with the same censorship). Bitchute is also vunerable to UK laws. Odysee is the most normie of the most used alternatives, even has commies.

If you speak japanese, there's niconico.

DailyMotion is an old site before YouTube became big. There are others from then still around like Veoh, or Vimeo. They probably don't host much political content.

If you have a creator you're interested in (and will pay), Locals and Rokfin are where some post original censorship free videos (no porn). Locals also has community features, so you can talk or share information with like-minded people. There are also sites like BlazeTV, or Banned.video that are video sites created for/by selected groups of creators. Timcast also exists if you like Tim Pool, it's supposed to get other creators, and more cultural content eventually.

Sign up for the mailing lists of creators you like if they offer one. If they use mailchimp tell them to get off or make backups (Mailchimp's banned creators at the same time their channel was banned). Also record creators' website or other web presences if they have any.

Dailymotion, Veoh, Vimeo

AAhhhh, my old high-sea sailing waters. How nostalgic. :)

Dailymotion purged a lot of its content, it's just a shell of its former self. Vimeo is in the same censorship boat as YouTube. There was even a big thing about them censoring certain kinds of content from artists, but I don't remember what the whole row was about.

The fact that we don't see a couple of bad clone like sites for Youtube and reddit that are just a tiny bit less user frendly speaks volumes to me about how much greed/power these companies have over the internet..

It reminds me of when the Lolbertarians used to fight against anyone calling for anti-trust suits to be brought against YouTube, Google, Facebook, etc., and defended Big Tech censorship by saying "JuSt bUiLD yOur oWn!"

And people then when people went and did just that, payment processors had them shut down, domain hosts had them shut down, and rivals bought them out. We're now at a point of no return. Even the DoJ's anti-trust suit against Google fell dead in the water.

Google is now bigger than any sovereign government, and many Lolbertarians no longer even have a platform to spout their Left-wing-enabling nonsense like "bUiLd yoUr owN!" because they've either been forced into a quarantine of a barely-there social network rival, or locked out of social media communication altogether.

Bitchute blocks content on a per-country basis, by the way. From the USA one might have the impression it is a generally free-speech streaming video website, but from the point of view of other countries things might be different.

especially those where you can watch normie videos

One “alternative” for still watching creators that are only on YouTube is to watch them without actually using the proper site.

You can grab an RSS feed for a channel using this URL:

https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?user=USERNAME

You can then download the videos using youtube-dl. It’s not ideal in that you’re still using YouTube, but it bypasses the parts of using YouTube that generate value for them.

Recently they changed something though, and Youtube-dl now mostly appears to only download mid/low quality videos.

Also use yt-dlp it's fork of youtube-dl that can bypass age gate w/o using your login cookies.

If I stay online, I think the long term replacement for me will be locals.com

It’s more of a patreon clone than YouTube but it’s got a mix of it all, but does have a lot of useful video options other video sites don’t even have like live streaming and live comments. Plus it has a robust chat community since each page is a content creator and not just a random video.

And unlike patreon you can sign up for free, but people will usually put sole stuff behind a paywall, but I’m fine paying a few bucks every now and then for some content from people who do good journalism or make non-globohomo bs.

I went to odysee a while back amd its decent. Im hoping the live streaming takes off.

Even have a channel where I've been uploading genshin impact grinding vids just to test it out: lbry://@acp#a

Yup, odysee's live stream is working well these days. Resistance GB just announced that they will focus on odysee for live streaming as well.

It’s not a great solution but I can airplay Odysee and Rumble videos from my phone to my TV by way of my Apple TV. I think that there’s a similar ability on Android phones with Chromecast.

If you're into shitty Keto and Crypto videos, d.tube is where it's at.

It's pretty unfortunate because a censorship resistant platform using skynet or ipfs holds a lot of promise, but since the site supports referencing and embedding Youtube directly now it really misses the point.

Like others here have said, Rumble and Odysee are the most viable YouTube alternatives. I think that Odysee has a bit more non-political content but Rumble does try to go out of its way to curate quality non-political content in its home page.

as the signal to noise ratio on Bitchute is really bad

What do you mean when you say "signal-to-noise ratio"?
