I laughed the moment I saw mods had deleted it.
Holy shit, this guy does not give a FUCK.
I have an urge to buy this game on steam now despite the bullshit Gabe Newell has allowed the regressive leftist spergs in his staff to pull on his site.
I will hold out for awhile to see if they stick by not bending the knee in any way, and if they don't, then buy their game for full price.
You're always going to be buying that game at full price, he refuses to put it on sale.
That was the first clue I got that he was based.
It is also $30. For how much people put into the game, it is a steal.
Check the nichegamer article elsewhere in this thread. This guy's been punching people in the mouth with his rhetoric for a LONG time.
looks like im finally coughing up the cash to buy the game
I absolutely love factorio, I've played several hundred hours it's fantastic.
Would be my pick of favorite singleplayer game of the decade
It's great, but it wasn't for me. I just couldn't ever engage with the steampunk mechanics like transferring items one at a time from a conveyor belt with a claw. It just never clicked with me.
Satisfactory scratches my itch for an automation game.
I played satisfactory recently and really liked it for a bit, but it gets too tedious to expand low tier item production near the endgame. You have to place every single splitter, belt, floor, wall, smelter, etc etc, over and over by hand just to make a few more iron plates than you were previously.
In Factorio you eventually get bots to do the tedious labor of placing everything down and you can copy and paste your existing structures (say for example iron smelting) and the bots lay it down, instantly doubling your output of a low tier resources, and now you can move on and focus on a bigger, more interesting project.
I also like the challenge of fighting off the bugs. It keeps you on your toes when you are new. Can't spend too long making things perfect, the bugs are getting stronger. 'Good enough' will have to do for now!
Yeah, I would prefer Satisfactory having enemies you had to fight off and you're right, the vanilla interface makes late game very tedious, but the modding community has pretty well solved that one.
I kind of expect that once all the content is in the game the devs will work on deciding which mods need to be incorporated. I can't imagine them leaving this game without any sort of copy/paste mechanism. Even if they do, though, PC players can mod it in and it makes larger and more complex factories much less tedious.
So much so that I agree with you in general. I don't think I could play it without a few specific mods that speed up building. Once you have laid out a 70x50 factory floor with a single click, you are never going to go back to doing it all individually.
I downloaded the free demo yesterday and after about 30 minutes I realized the game just isn't for me. But I can see that it's well done and I understand why it appeals to so many people.
I played it for a couple of hours...but it eventually began to feel like a chore. I also got tired of Minecraft and most recently Valheim before long. It's a shame because people seem to have so much fun playing, but everyone is different.
Kudos to the developers all the same and I hope they have continued success. Trying to break into the gaming industry is HARD, and for every mega-blockbuster there are thousands of milquetoast titles; including amazingly fun ones that just never caught on.
It starts out as a chore but it eventually turns into an interesting almost puzzle like game IMO. I have to use a 'headstart' mod (start with some resources and buildings to quickly get basic production going) if a start a new game because the beginning is just kinda tedious.
inb4 "see he's doing great that proves cancel culture doesn't exist!"
When you’re a co-owner of a private company, the only way you can get cancelled is if you let yourself get cancelled. See the Five Nights at Freddy guy who “retired” after getting cancelled for donating money to Trump and said that he still loves the LGBTQs even though they think he’s a homophobe.
This might be how it is played.
Did he?
There's a lot of ways it can still go wrong.
Hes Czeck, he doesnt give a shit
So far, so good.
Some furry with ze zir pronouns is saying it wanted to apply for some job with the company, but now won't.
I'm sure they all cry about one less insane attention whore freak at the workplace.
As fun as taunting them is, it'd be even more fun if he went for something more subtle like thanking everyone for all the positive support and good word of mouth from the community. They hate the greater community being acknowledged whilst they're ignored.
Tim Soret knelt (or rather, his company threw him under the bus and knelt for him), and lost. Ion Fury devs flipflopped between kneeling and resisting, and neither won or lost. Kingdom Come dev didn't kneel, and won.
Weakness attracts failure.
They aren't wrong about the free ads. I'd heard about in the past and totally forgotten it. Now I'm downloading a demo.
Advice for newbies in Factorio, try to figure things out for yourself in the beginning and build your own creations. Don't go to YouTube everytime you get flustered or feel overwhelmed. There are a million super advanced blueprints and guides online that are min/maxing everything to an autistic level it's not even fun anymore. It's all advanced end game gameplay videos that get advertised to noobs and can ruin your journey developing a functional factory. I found the game so fun because it's essentially a puzzle and developing a new system that worked well enough at the time was rewarding.
Factorio: Builds systems
Leftists: Blathers about systems
Factorio: System breaks, you fix it.
Leftists: Break System, complain, break the system more, blame someone else, break the system again, say you're struggling to overcome the corrupt system.
Factorio: Requires high time preferance to deliver to deliver difficult outcome
Leftists: So low in time preference they don't really understand the concept of time.
Factorio: Requires exacting specification for system
Leftists: Grandious, abstract, untestable assertions about the system
Factorio: Shows that a single person can not only create an incredibly complex system, but can build it from scratch by themselves.
Leftists: Excuses failures by asserting no one person can impact a system.
Factorio: A system.
Leftists: Systemic systems of systematic systemicness. Psuedo-Science of Systems
They were always going to go after Factorio. It is an anathema to their entire meta-narrative.
Just bought Factorio, stayed up too late playing it (I'km old), and had fever dreams of placing conveyor belts. This is going to be fun.
It's called cracktorio for a reason.
Its my favorite game. I sometimes wish i could wipe my memory and replay it. Now its my favorite dev, i should leave a steam review for the troons
I quite like how they're attacking him for not understanding the term "statutory rape". Where's all that "love and understanding" for ESL speakers gone?
I'll buy the game at full price if they don't cave.
They don't do discounts anyway.
I thought you were exaggerating, but nope.
Yeah, doing temporary sales on a game catered heavily to minmaxer efficiency nerds is just going to encourage people to not buy it until the next sale anyway.
That said, I think I saw it for like 10% discount on GOG recently.
I've been meaning to buy it for a while. This finally got me to play it. Installing RightNow.
Time to say goodbye to my time.

You will be missed.
