Biden calls for 'commonsense gun law reforms' on anniversary of Parkland shooting (archive.is)

In 2019, more people in the US were bludgeoned to death by hammers and clubs than shot by rifles, and more people killed by being punched, kicked, pushed down the stairs, etc. than by rifles and shotguns combined. Even if your "common sense gun reform" got rid of all rifle deaths, and people who would murder with a rifle didn't switch to another weapon, it would barely get rid of 3% of murders.

And as you keep "mourning" the 17 dead and 17 wounded in Parkland, why don't you swing by Chicago for a couple minutes? In 2020, Chicago saw 719 people (80% of them black for the BLM crowd) shot to death, and 3455 wounded by gunfire. YTD in 2021, they're at 72 shot to death and 259 wounded - that's 4 Parkland's worth of dead, and 15 worth of wounded. And which part of your bill will address violent crime among young black men?

In 2019, more people in the US were bludgeoned to death by hammers and clubs than shot by rifles, and more people killed by being punched, kicked, pushed down the stairs, etc. than by rifles and shotguns combined.

I believe this is true in every year, as a matter of fact. There may be the occasional exception, I don't know, but that would be a big anomaly.

Even if your "common sense gun reform" got rid of all rifle deaths, and people who would murder with a rifle didn't switch to another weapon, it would barely get rid of 3% of murders.

And that's still being overly generous. Because, I believe, most rifle deaths are not "murders." Rifles are not popular weapons for murders, but are popular self defense weapons. I would imagine many of those rifle deaths are legitimate self defense, and not murder.

Gun death statistics don't take into account whether the killing was justified, or murder. So the numbers are even smaller than the official counts. We're talking a couple hundred deaths, at most, per year, in the entire massive country. Rifle murders are practically nowhere on the list, when it comes to leading causes of death.

Of course to the government elite it's common sense that they be the only ones allowed to have weapons of any sort. The rest of us I guess the best we can do are narwhal tusks.

This school stuff has been used so politically too. I was still in school when the whole Columbine shooting happened. I don't recall any formal discussion about it at school. We most definitely did not ever have any "shooter drills". I don't recall anything even related to the notion that there might be a shooter at our school. Of course that was before they realized it could be used to get in the heads of young people and get them afraid of guns.

I was in school around the same time. The only change made was that we had to wear photo IDs on a lanyard, with the idea that it'd make it easier to spot an intruder. They didn't care for it when I pointed out that the shooters were students and would have had IDs.

"Common Sense Gun Control"

What part involves deploying crew-served machine guns against unarmed protestors in DC by the literal military?

Seems perfectly common sense to me!

I mean, I'm sure they'd have liked to use Maxim guns like the NKVD detachments they appear to idolise, but they've made the common-sense decision to roll with the M249 instead.

M249 isn't crew served.

The M240 G and M2 are. That's how much over-kill we're talking about.

M240 G and M2

... for when you want to kill a guy, and everybody living in the house behind the guy?

I mean, seriously, don't you guys mostly have wood-panel houses up that way? Not that an M2 is going to be particularly fussed about smashing through brick houses like you'd get in the UK. You've got to have serious concerns about your backstop under those circumstances.

Correct. I saw an episode of Live PD: the cops arrived on-scene to where there had been a gunfight in the street. Some dudes with pistols fired on a guy with an AK. The pistols had 9mm rounds that went through an entire house. The AK round went through 3.

Common sense being a requirement should disqualify Biden and all the other Democrats from speaking on the matter

"Common sense gun laws" = Punishing the law abiding gun owners while criminals killing other people with illegally possessed firearms go scot free

Leftists want to disarm their political and cultural enemies, conservative whites.

Leftists have no interest in disarming their own paramilitaries in the black ghetto.

Thomas Paine's Common Sense calls for a reform of industry to produce more big guns for private citizens, particularly battleships.

So does the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Unfortunately, Democrats, wanting to side with their own state-sponsored terrorists in Cruikshank v. United States, decided that proto-Fascism was the only correct answer to whether or not people had the right not to be murdered.

The complete failure of authority, from the school counselors to the fucking FBI, to nip Parkland in the bud was what convinced me to get a gun. Because fuck entrusting my safety to these government-employed chucklefucks.

Oh, and to put the shit cherry on top, Parkland already had several deputies already at the scene for whatever reason. When what's-his-face starting shooting, the cowards from Broward decided to duck behind their cop cars until the shooter ran out of ammo, and even barred fucking EMT from going in.

"You don't need a gun, the cops will save you," my hairy ass!

Its time to play the game by their rules:

This is obviously a further extension of Systemic Racism and meant to deprive BIPOCs of not only their rights to own guns and defend themselves because Whitey is scared of what they did in Minnesota - but white people will be able to afford the new licenses and ammunition costs and BIPOCs will be unable to forced out due to oppressive minority policies.

Seriously guys - run with that - EVERYTHING is RACIST now? Ok then... so is gun control.

This line of thought works stupidly well for gun grabbers, but you have to preempt their usual attack vectors. Casually mention that even studies funded explicitly to support gun control don't conclude that it works, and be prepared to back it up with Trusted Sources™ such as UC Davis or CDC, then say it doesn't matter because something something white privilege.

a noble thought worthy of consideration, but you must realize they have no such rules. their rules are as follows: if it gives us power it is good, if it takes away from our power it is bad.

do not play by their rules. ever.

The man that needs thousands of soldiers and multiple walls of barb wire and martial law to maintain office in DC wants to disarm the country after stealing the election. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Common sense gun reform would mean that blacks aren't allowed to own guns and would necessitate mobilizing the army into American cities to enforce.

Something tells me that'll never happen.

Instead tell whitey that he can't own a weak pistol lower.

I want to put it out there that we need to frame this as "The aristocracy disarming the peasantry" or maybe even "The Bourgeoisie disarming the Proletariat" so the Communists hesitate.

Biden also said that you should take a double barrel 12 gauge, and fire both barrels as a warning shot to scare off home invaders... which is dumb and in most states illegal since you are recklessly discharging a fire arm, and if you have time for a warning shot then you are not technically in imminent danger.
