One of my favorite anime of all time, but the story is very philosophical and filled with obscure references that could come across as pretentious I suppose. They also don’t explain many of the plot details which leaves the viewer to fill in the gaps as to what’s going on. If you enjoy it but find it confusing, repeated viewings are recommended as I seem to learn something new every time I watch it. The good news is that there is a coherent story hidden under all the layers, which I personally found very interesting.
The characters are all well developed and somewhat unique compared to other anime. One of the reasons I like the anime so much is due to how it doesn’t follow any of the usual cliches that other anime usually contains.
One of the biggest draws for the anime in my case is the world. It’s very rare that we see suck a bleak depiction of a post-apocalyptic landscape as this one. Yet it still manages to be hopeful somehow. I just found the world fascinating.
The story leans heavily into pseudo-religious themes of the creation and the creator, and the conflict/tension between the two. I don’t think it’s meant to be overtly religious, but it plays in the same space, given the powerful figures at work in the story.
I don’t recall any of these topics ever coming up with him, but he’s an outspoken critic of the scientific establishment so your original comment couldn’t be more incorrect.
That said, I have no idea what his response would be to your specific questions. Honestly, you come across a bit nutty with your obsession with race, given it has nothing to do with the original topic.
Heimdallr in Marvel’s Thor going to Idris Elba was a good choice.
Not exactly the same since they did it in the comics first, but Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury.
Can’t think of any others though, and these aren’t exactly deep or complex acting roles.
...yet you don’t actually care enough about your principles to just not play the game. I guess that’s asking too much.
This is the same mentality that gave us “these kicks are for Floyd”. Theft for social justice; how convenient.
Do what you like, but I would never lose sight of the fact that these people are still individuals who work hard for a living for the purpose to creating what you enjoy. I refuse to let my disdain for their beliefs become an excuse to exploit, abuse or take advantage of them. That’s a sign of bad character and a slippery slope you don’t want to go down.
Don’t pirate the game. Don’t feel entitled to steal someone’s hard work just because you disagree with their politics. If you do, you’re just as scummy as they are. Just don’t play the game. If thats too hard, then just purchase it honestly.
I’m firmly on Barnes’ side of this argument but if what people are saying about him is true, it’s a disappointing that he’d resort to such tactics.
That said, Fuentes is an identitarian and an authoritarian. He has no problem with fascism or socialism, as long as it’s his flavor of fascism or socialism. His vision of America is NOT the vision of the founding or the Constitution.
This context really shouldn’t matter in deciding who won the debate, though.
That's obviously not true, but I agree that capacity for change is a rare thing. In order to change something like your worldview, you need to value something else more, so much so that you're willing to sacrifice one for the other. You can usually tell who those people are that worship their ideology more than anything else in their lives.
If anything, I would say Islam is exploiting leftism to increase it's influence.
Both Communism and Islam share the same end goal, albeit with slightly different trappings (worship of the state vs. worship of "Allah"). Unfettered authoritarianism is the root of the problem.
Leftists think they're clever, but they're fooling themselves if they think Islamic leaders can't see through their social manipulations and leverage it for their own ends. The only reason Leftism is so effective in the USA is because people are so drunk on self-indulgence, they have no ability to see or understand anything more complex than a TikTok video anymore.
Bret and Heather Weinstein are evolutionary biologists, scientists, who are very well-informed on the pros/cons of the vaccine and ivermectin. I’m sure “Gay Dave” knows better though; these people are obviously monsters for disagreeing with “Gay Dave”.
To be honest, the reason the Right is losing is far deeper than things like the allies we choose to keep or the tactics we employ. The Right is losing because the majority of our population is so complacent and drunk on self-indulgence and immorality they can’t even be bothered to pay attention anymore. Our culture has declined to such a degree that nothing but extreme hardship will wake us up, and even then it will probably come with a culling of the population.
We literally need a WW3 or natural disaster on unprecedented scale to wake us from the drunken stupor we’re in right now.
Many of those on the Right who acknowledge that the Left are the “bad guys” still can’t seem to understand the immediate existential threat they pose. It’s like they still see them as the communists of the 70’s and 80’s.
It’s one thing to be red-pilled and understand the Left is evil... it’s another thing to recognize that this evil is at your doorstep preparing to haul you away to the gulag.
Is there any compromise between the truth and a lie?
I think JP is wrong on this one. He doesn’t believe the election shenanigans, so he sees it as an easy compromise, but that’s not the case. Besides, the Left never compromises... they pretend to compromise when it benefits them.
I believe originally in the USA only landowners had the right to vote. I can definitely see an upside to raising the barrier to voting. The fact that the Left is continually trying to lower the barrier suggests raising it is probably a good idea it and of itself.
We don't "conquer countries" anymore. We engage in "peace-keeping operations" and "nation building", both of which are rarely, if ever, successful due to not having clear conditions for success in the first place.
Give our boys a clear victory condition and the latitude to get it done and it would be over in hours or days rather than years.
I hate the gender fluid nonsense more than most, but in this case it actually might be somewhat correct given that he can, and does, change his material form in the comics. It’s one of the things his character is known for. I somehow doubt that’s why they’re doing this though.
