Use the rule of thumb, if the cover portrays a woman or a diverse protagonist then it's auto assumed to be woke trash. If the cover has a white man as a protagonist read the plot / promotion summary, if it includes diverse side characters, most probably the main character will be sidelined in favour of these characters (see Indiana Jones, Willow etc.)

Dragonriders of Pern is also a fantastic series. Crystal series isn't too bad either. I haven't read anything else from AM.
The earlier FASA era Shadowrun and Battletech books were also very entertaining.
