That's just not true. Gay guys get more points if they're Gays of Color, but white gay men are absolutely not let off the hook for their "toxic masculinity." Women are by far the most fanatical enforcers of the social expectation that gay men are supposed to be effeminate and pursue feminine interests. Women tend to take it extremely personally if they meet a gay guy who is not interested in going shopping for clothes or going to see a rom com, or even if he just acts like a normal, reasonably masculine heterosexual.
Even gay men are not allowed to have their own spaces, as is evidenced by the loud, obnoxious drunken bridal parties that invade gay bars and grope the patrons. Certainly women's desire to police male behaviour does not stop at straight men.

There is actually almost no evidence that this term predates European colonization. You can't rebuild the traditional family by giving mothers the option to replace fathers with the state, because most of them will choose the latter.
