Demagogue comes from ancient Greece and means leader of the common people. Given the current state of the elites, demagoguery is the only way out and Trump should be proud of such a title.

A lot of people still do, unfortunately. That's why we're still fucked

Here's a ridiculous idea we can try if fascist demagogues ever take over the country: Ban media organizations. You still get your free speech - as an individual - but no more CNN, Fox News, New York Times, WSJ, Breitbart or Post Millennial. Everything must be owned by and attributed solely to a single human. Any time two or more journalists get together in a group, we raid their office and shut it down as a conspiracy to employ propaganda against the people. As a journalist you can hire your own editorial department if you must, but the final report comes from you. We must end The Fourth Estate once and for all.

It's a dumb thought that just came to me, but I wonder if that would destroy the implicit trust many people have in "the news" as an accurate information tool. Also responsibility for fake news would not be dispersed over a whole company over a long period of time. We'd know exactly who to shame or credit.

A) The Smith-Mundt modernization act made it completely legal to use propaganda against the American people.

B) Shutting down all corporate news outlets makes you an antisemite

A) The Smith-Mundt modernization act made it completely legal to use propaganda against the American people.

Afaik, it made it legal for the state department to broadcast their "news" segments that were aimed at foreign audiences within US borders, but it had nothing to do with private media corporations.

Maybe I'm wrong?

Private media. Run in lock step by the same people running the government.

Even if it worked like that, the modern corporate media spends 24 hours a day talking about some press briefing where government officials spewed DOS approved propaganda.

The media had been doing that already. I haven't seen anything in the text that says something like, "now it's legal for the CIA to use private media to spread government propaganda."

Excellent idea!

I might make exemptions for reporters who prove themselves to be ethical by allowing them to take on copy editors or photographers, but all work would still be attributable to the one reporter and any lies, deliberate or by omission/weasel words, would be proof of conspiracy to employ propaganda.

I believe Biden is butthurt that people still don't think he was elected. He ran for president how many times? He's constantly playing second fiddle. And then, he finally gets installed and at least half the country doesn't believe he deserves it.

Old people kind of turn back into children. And I believe this is childishness on Biden's part. No one believes he's supporting the republic. He acts with divisiveness at every opportunity. He's always been a Party man.

Agreed. I remember how the media kept pushing that he was a moderate. I was like since when?

You gotta use a media perspective. He's not a die-hard communist: he represented moneylenders. "Moderate" means the corporate wing of the Democrat party. And to be fair to them, he did up the partisanship as he ran for President. As a Senator, he was happy to play the back-scratching game with Republicans, which is what passes for moderate among those types of crooks. In order to be the de facto leader of the Democrat party, he had to toughen up on Republicans. It's a different job than Senator where your primary job is to bring home the bacon to your state (while enriching yourself of course).

That’s a good way of putting it. I guess when I hear moderate I think of someone with a few right leaning views. But the definition has changed.

He has always been one of those people who "worked with his colleagues across the aisle." All that proved to me was that they were all part of the same uniparty. Whenever the two parties come together and compromise on something, you know there's corruption going on behind closed doors.

One party is retarded. One party is evil. Occasionally they get together to do something retardedly evil, and this is what we call bipartisanship.

Their obsession is born of fear. They're terrified of Trump, and they should be.

Stelter was doggedly criticized by conservative viewers over his coverage of the Trump administration, which – among many other things – tried to sow doubt about the validity of the results in the 2020 election that he lost to Biden.

Objective journalism.

I had a libtard go npc error on me at the bar last night. First it was “journalistic integrity” which had me laughing because I just told him about Duranty then it was “fbi integrity” which made me laugh even harder and bring up Hoover. He then short circuited, said “do we have to take this outside” which made me actually laugh in his face. These are the people who believe “objective journalists” exist.

Shows you why big tech has to censor right-wing speech. The left can't stand dissent and will flip the table or disengage when they hear opinions they don't like.

You dare to call into question the integrity of institutions that manipulate me? Obviously, you had it coming.

This is where Biden makes explicit that he's signaling on behalf of the uniparty, too. He's saying: "Only pre-authorized dissenting opinions allowed." If you truly dissent, he will sic the FBI on you. Not that anyone believes there are any off-limits tools for the uniparty to retain power.

All politicians are demagogues, some populist, some collectivist. I prefer the populist.
