52% believe their company practices “reverse discrimination” in hiring

Enough. There is no "reverse discrimination", and the only way you get that term is by accepting the nutjobs worldview in the first place. It's just plain old discrimination.

trending was curated to push particular political points? I'm shocked, SHOCKED I say!

I thought the whole point of OSRS was that any changes had to get voted on and approved by the playerbase? Guess that doesn't apply when Modern Sensibilities come into play

Officially, he was not on the ballot. That said, virtually every D candidate ran ads saying "Oh no! Trumpers are coming to destroy everything!" and that's all the media would talk about. They did everything in their power to put Trump on the ballot. Though, I will agree abortion probably played a role too.

Agreed. Hopefully they do manage to squeak over the line in the house but given the history of midterms and the economic state we're in this was way messier than it had any right being. A big part of it is the constant brainwashing of people by the media, but it's fairly indisputable now that Trump is just cancer at this point.

Where I'm at, polls open at 6 AM.

Is Young Sheldon any less insufferable than Old Sheldon? Because the fact that Sheldon on BBT doesn't get repeatedly punched in the face in every episode shows that the characters have supernatural patience. Making him a younger character just seems like it would be creating an even more annoying live-action Lisa Simpson type.

Let me direct your attention over to this thread from a couple hours ago about a movie being released claiming the Bible didn't say anything against homosexuality until 1946.

ailurus 19 points ago +19 / -0

In other words, the Biblical assertion that homosexuality is a sin—the catalyst for an entire shift in culture, with political repercussions, religious implications, consequences for LGBT rights and acceptance, and, frankly, deadly results—was, they allege, a mistake.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Romans 1:26-28 from the 1604 King James translation. Don't care if "homosexual", "gay", "bundle of sticks", or whatever other word you want to use is not in there, there's the Bible calling your relentless faggotry "vile affections".

I'd be 100% on board with that, except for the fact that it impacts my bills and fuel availability as well.

Sheller said the poll worker was assisting a voter with an electronic ballot and pressed the "straight Democrat ticket" option during the explanation.

Why the **** do "Straight ticket" buttons exist in the first place? If someone is too lazy, stupid or both to answer a half dozen or so multiple choice questions without a "pick C for everything" button then they don't deserve to vote.

But Stacy Abrams is a known Election Denier (TM). I thought supporting her was wrong?

Extinction Rebellion was also involved in the action. Hundreds of other demonstrators in and around the airport’s main hall carried signs saying “Restrict aviation” and “More trains”.

Don't care about your trains (seriously, what is it with big government types and trains?). If we can get more blimps for air travel though I'd be OK with that because I think blimps are cool.

Dude, you've officially lost the plot at this point. Mitch "if the republicans win the senate we'll basically write Ukraine a blank check" McConnell is utter trash, and an establishment politician made manifest.

In his 16 years as head Republican in the senate (10 years as minority leader, 6 as majority leader), what major accomplishments does he have, other than helping to cement the reputation of Republicans as democrats driving the speed limit? In particular, what actions has he taken that were in opposition to women?

In the last couple months he even pulled funding from several close senate races, and spent some of that money running attack ads against a Republican candidate in Alaska.

Virtually anyone is better than McConnell, because it's hard to see how someone could be worse unless they were functionally caucusing with the Democrats.

Better him than McConnell (most anyone is better than McConnell)

ailurus 10 points ago +10 / -0

If the result is not Democrats in 100% power (and ideally picking up a few seats in the senate so they don't have to worry about 1-2 saner Ds like Manchin stopping their most extreme stuff), then DEMOCRACY IS DOOMED!!!1!

There's an old lady (not sure on age, I would say probably mid to late 70s?) out by me who is holding a sign outside a planned parenthood office (nearly) every single day. She's been doing it for years. The sign says "I regret my abortion"

ailurus 16 points ago +16 / -0

If this is just whining, don't care

If this is the prelude/justification to pivot and say "well, if you wokies are going to rant regardless of what I do or don't do, I'll just let anybody on", then that's a good thing.

Will see which it is going forward

Current state of politics in general, especially the DNC.

Step 1) Ape something old and well known (MEMBER MEAN JOE GREENE EVERYONE?!)

Step 2) Ensure appropriate diversity points

Step 3) Say nothing about policies or what you plan to do, just portray yourself as Nice Average Guy (tm)

Step 4) DRUMPF BAD! ORANGE MAN BAD! DON'T YOU HATE ORANGE MAN!!!

ailurus 15 points ago +15 / -0

This. What Vinay doesn't seem to get is that

We have to totally destroy it, and try to build a new institution that actually uses science to guide policy, and realizes that You can never follow the science. Science can just articulate trade-offs, but all trade-offs must be decided by citizens.

basically can never exist. Even if it truly starts off that way, within one bureaucratic generation (for lack of a better word) it will start moving back to what we have today. The state always just ends up working to empower the state.
