This crowd has been all about palette swaps. Why is this one offensive?

For some gloaters, this is confirmation of “Go woke, go broke”, but the truth could be more complicated.

It is "Get woke, go broke" you post wall muppet.

Is it really wokery that has scuppered Victoria’s Secret’s empowerment reboot, or is this more a corporate cautionary tale about the perils of “faking it”?

Yes, yes it was, but real inclusion has never been tried apparently.

Replace the squat, brown, human minifridge with a man, and suddenly it would be "Male gaze!" and "Where are her organs!?"

"Trashy erotica novel, what are you doing over the garbage disposal and why is there so much blood?"

"I'm not trashy erotica novel! I'm 1984! And there is no way I crudely Buffalo Billed 1984 and am now trying to dispose of the body!"

In 2022, the theologian Tricia Hersey published “Rest Is Resistance,” a best-selling manifesto that calls all people, but especially Black people, to slow down, not as a means toward future productivity but as an act of defiance.

Right. Your coworker is not a lazyass, he is a freedom fighter! Join in his struggle and do less! Slacktivists unite!

I cannot heckin wait for the update that has the current Israel/Palestine conflict missions! Teach a bunch of diverse kids that hate is wrong by helping them paraglide into a "Peace for the Middle East" concert! Then suit up in blue and white to bring justice to the very undiverse criminals bullying elderly Jews! Once you have completed those missions, you will unlock the "Free Palestine" event, where you hand out brand placement soda to keep everyone happy!

I have a feeling that these elderly fencers could wipe the floor with untrained or even amateur level opponents, so to claim that they are not real competitors is ridiculous at best.

As it looks like Kocab has been competing in the womens division since around the mid 2010s from what I found on the FIE website, I wonder if a "play nice, or do not play at all" policy has been instituted, or if the other women really do not give a shit. Either way, reach is an advantage in a sport that requires you to touch your opponent to win.

From an article linked in the posted article:

And it’s even more special when you can win in front of your friends. Kocab says she loves the camaraderie found in fencing — especially at the Veteran level where everyone is there to make friends and have a great time, win or lose.

If everyone is there in the spirit of friendly competition, then why are there separate mens and womens events? Or separate age groups? I admit I am a bit obtuse at times, and occasionally dense as well, so simple straightforward answers are best.

Lol Yes, literally getting on her knees and bowing combined with years of faithful service was not enough to save her from her future sins. Such is the purity spiral.

Dr Orr should have known better than to make a joke based on fact in current year, especially when the brown people he callously targeted have consistently proven his statement correct through their own behavior even before this event.

The Cult of the Current Thing has only one rule: Support current thing or else.

As soon members violate that one rule, they are fair game for punishment, even more so than nonmembers as it re-enforces the "or else" part of the rule, and because members have seen first hand how gleefully the cult deals out punisment, it keeps the faithful in line.

I agree that could ruthless force is the best way forward when dealing with barbarians. The orginal article has a call to arms for the"remains of the civilized world", which I cut as it was pointed directly at the US and other first world nations to sacrifice their manpower and material for the cause, with the not so subtle implication that, to misquote a certain old man, "if you don't help Israel, you ain't civilized." Bluntly put, fuck the original author. The sovereign nations are allowed to sit on their hands if they want. That said, glassing most if not all of the Middle East seems like a very easy, very final way to end this centuries old conflict and prevent any new ones from arising, but I use this moniker for a reason, so have probably missed something.

Your interpretation of barbarism as a force of nature is interesting. In the full article, the author has the following line:

...contain and push back the barbarians—who, let us remember, will never entirely go away, and who will always haunt our nightmares.

I removed it as I felt it was overly emotional and excessive, especially the nightmares part, but brutality is a part of human nature, and barbarism is brutal.

By historical event, do you mean the Kitos War (115-117) or the Bar Kokhba revolt (132-136). Both were during the time of Hadrian, and one led to another, though the ban on Jews in Jerusalem was part of the second.

This is speculation.

Gay man is gay. If he is gay, then that is fine because he is gay.

Young black man is "not" gay. He wants and may have sex with women but he is in a drug fueled, blackmail backed relationship with the gay man, and that gay man is willing to go the distance to keep that sweet, sweet bussy which he has spent literal years cultivating.

So less of a flex, and more of a "how very fucking dare you!? I OWN you and will expose you in a culture that does not tolerate men being gay" sort of deal.

I was under the impression that black women needed no further incentive to get an abortion regardless?

Also, requesting slow annihilation by killing off one of the few demographics that actually wants to date you is a weird way to go about it, but "yaaasss kween slaaaay" I guess.

The rules state a person is emotionally and romantically committed to their partner but is allowed to explore sexually with others, based on a pre-arranged agreement.

"Treat the third person as a human sex toy." Excellent advice, and probably empowering for those who are the third party! Nothing like letting yourself be used for the pleasure of two other people in an intimate setting to make you feel better!

In a statement issued after she was sworn in, the chief constable said: "Having considered Sir Iain's reasons, I agree Police Scotland is institutionally discriminatory."

Wew, lass. Excellent way to endear yourself to your new employees.

Formerly chief constable at Durham Constabulary, Ms Farrell said her focus was on threat, harm and risk and on prevention and problem solving.

That sounds like an actively inactive plan when it comes to enforcement.

But arriving from Durham - one of the smallest police forces in England to take charge of the second largest in the UK - the new chief faces immediate challenges.

The biggest challenge she faces might be herself.
