I think the main problem with this is that not even ugly people want to look at an ugly person for longer than they have to, regardless of whether or not it is relatable that the character is ugly. Making them pleasant to look at also gives a bit of wiggle room for failure in case you don't hit the mark.
Secondly, a character being ugly or even "relatable" doesn't automatically make them a good character. Is it possible to have a good ugly character? Maybe. Sure. But as long as we're going down an exhaustingly long marxian checklist of "relatable" things to shoehorn in, you don't really get to have that.
Useless diversity hires realize that they're pretty much exactly that and they go on to take credit for everything that made Life is Strange dogshit, narrative director had the nerve to try to maybe get laid within said useless in-studio social clique but he gave them the "ick", they had a mean senior programmer who couldn't mask his autism I guess, who got fired for being a grump.
It seems they also had a basedboy sneaking in assets (or even funnier, had a histrionic meltdown over nothing) - they launch an investigation, it was unsuccessful in determining an intention (it was probably fucking nothing).
All the rest is "Waaaah! it isn't gay enough!" "THERE AREN'T ENOUGH TRANS NIGGERINOS!" "OH NO NOT THE #CRUnCH!" "SQUARE ENIX! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA".
I really wish we could have a collective "seeya later!" moment, pack our shit up and leave. We're so very evil, and I agree that they should stay away from us.
We'd be at such a loss, they'd be on the moon without us what with all their BIPOC genius and #greatness.
Tell that to your pair-bonding hormones. It's more complicated than "IT'S ALL PRIMAL BRO" or someone simply spawning the idea of monogamy, it has an epigenetic context.
The context from which monogamy emerges is always preferable to this one.
Except I am under no impression that the Catholic church commands the authority of Peter and I am not blind to the fact that popes can be fallible.
If you do not reflect the basic affirmations of Christianity, you represent no "instance" at all. He is a jesuit (secular liberal shabbo catholic essentially) in a silly hat, and that's all he is.

Though it's perfectly fine when it's a big gay clown in a dress or some senator's son and it's the real thing. I don't know who we're using as a benchmark to social aptitudes when it comes to countries at this point.
Do not judge lest ye be judged? Frankly, I would like to be judged if I were so desperate to be in a relationship that I went as far as to endorse the very same culture of whoredom and desolation which the bible explicitly and repeatedly condemns as a bad outcome - I think that sounds like a pretty good metric to be judged by generally speaking. Why reward it? Why enable it? It's nothing short of cuckoldry on a spiritual level to lose the discernment that you are also "called upon as a Christian" to have.
Have some dignity.
