The right to own women should be enshrined in the constitution?
Responsible woman ownership should involve locking her away when not in use?
Major Democrat cities should be declared "woman-free" zones?
I could go on.
1, it has to be a woman being raped, 2, the rapist can't be a hot [vampire/millionaire/whatever]
You have Joe the alcoholic plumber rape her, then you have the gall to write Joe as a sympathetic character struggling with his own demons and not an irredeemable monster.
Remember, to a feminist, the difference between sexual assault (which is worse than literally killing someone in their minds) and flirting is how hot the guy doing it is.
You write your strong female protagonist as an actually strong character, who has mixed and complex feelings about being raped, and finds a serious disconnect between her own experiences and and those of "Rape Victims" who portray it as being an indescribable horror, and not rough sex and mild physical assault.
It's a balancing act for sure, but I think that if you can do it right it could work. A lot of it comes down to how well developed the characters are.
Space Marines raping and genociding "BlAcK-CoDeD" aliens isn't really that offensive if everyone involved is a cardboard cutout. But a well written sympathetic rapist and a similarly well written female character who is not traumatized by her rape but instead finds her perspective altered and opportunities for personal growth, provides opportunities for genuinely quality writing, and will make feminists seeth.
Of course you have to avoid making it erotic. 50-shades gets slagged on, but the fact that it turns women on protects it to a degree.
I don't know anything about your writing style, but it seems to me that the trick to make something offensive is to create something well written and enjoyable to a certain small segment of the audience for exposure, but to include ideas that are Heterodox on a fundamental level to the ideology of the people you are trying to offend.
In that case, I'd go rape scene, then have the character start enjoying being raped, then portray the rape as having been a positive thing in the later half of the book.
It'd be tricky to do well, but it would certainly be offensive.
No, but my gut says you don't watch jeopardy regularly if you thought Levar was a good choice. Politics aside, Levar delivery is completely the wrong tone for a show like jeopardy. He also flubbed timing cues, and didn't seem to read his answer sheet ahead of time. He was easily one of the worst guest hosts.
Yes, but it would still be funny to see it tried.
Though, there have been enough feminist fails that another isn't necessary. Unfortunately I'm not optimistic enough to believe that society at large will ever give up on it's progressive projects and just accept that some industries will naturally be 90%+ white and Asian men.
So since this is clown world, I can only hope that the clowns are occasionally amusing.
Perhaps the game studios of the future should follow the Islamic model. Seperate Entrances, different sections once inside. Women are managed by women, Men are managed by men.
(Something tells me that this would decrease sexual harassment complaints, and likely increase the productivity of men, the women's side would degenerate into toxic work environment governed by cliques and gossip.)
Well my gut instinct would be that society would relax gun laws in due to the fact that women are basically always armed.
Then basically nothing else would change.
Like I don't think electrical bolts protect you from bullets, nor do they increase your tolerance for risk or manual labour...
This person has no idea how civilization actually functions do they?
Sometimes "High functioning" just means "can form a coherent sentence" but yes, his only skill in life seemed to be drawing like a small child, and got lucky enough to generate a following on the internet who turned it into a meme.
It's hard to find value in the work of a man who can probably be outsmarted by a bright 6 year old.
Everyone is assumed to be a morbidly obese white male neckbeard eating Cheetos while sitting at a computer in his mother's basement until they claim otherwise. Then they're an attention whore, which is worse.
Sorry. You've officially been demoted.
That's the thing. It can be whatever ones you want.
Never really got why someone would want to play FF on mobile anyway, but then, a lot of smartphone gaming doesn't make any sense to me.
Also, side note I disagree that the backgrounds look better in the mobile version of FFVI, they look very "high school art class" to me cheap and lazy like the sprite work. PSP FFIV Art looks great, why is the UI so ugly though? Those fonts are all over the place...
Read both a long time ago.
Friendship is optimal is fairly interesting as it is a long form work about a paperclipping scenario, and a fairly early one at that. It actually probably works a bit better if you don't like MLP as the padded cell where you will never want for anything, and the resulting insipidness of such an existence is brought into sharper relief. Kind of old hat these days if you're already versed on paperclippers though.
Hpamor was okay I think. You kind of have to accept that it's largely a snarky takedown of Harry Potter's world building. I liked it's take on the character of Draco Malfoy and his father. The battle scenarios were fun if kind of silly. It gets up its own ass a lot, but I wouldn't dismiss it as a waste of time to read. I have fond memories of it.
As for LessWrong, I never interacted with the community, but I read some of the articles, and they are a mix of insightful computer science research and a the texts of a AI doomsday cult.
There was also Twilight fanfic of a similar nature I read around the same time which I also quite enjoyed, despite never having read Twilight. Of course being Twilight making the character more intelligent makes her less of a Mary Sue. Luminosity was the name I think.
They cherry picked polls which had him doing poorly.
He was polling around 5% at the start of the election, they chose about half of the polls in the first 5 days as the official polls for deciding who gets in to debate. Conveniently for them, they just so happened to pick the ones with the PPC scoring lower, so the PPC got 3% in the "Official" polling.
Even more conveniently the just so happened to pick 4%, for no reason at all, as the cut off for participating in the debates.
It's so disingenuous to claim "he didn't have the numbers" when you or people on your payroll were in charge of calculating "the numbers" at every stage
