So women develop (shitty) superpowers and their immediate response is to subjugate and basically enslave men?

Impossible1 , you wrote this, didn’t you?

If the quality of that Wikipedia article is anywhere close to the reality of the book, I wouldn't be shocked if you could actually write a better feminist fantasy than they could. Maybe you should try, that would be hilarious if they ever figured out about who wrote it.

Take the blood money, get them hooked on your writing, then do to their entertainment what's been done to ours. Subvert their expectations

So they acknowledge that they are not the dominant gender and that they would require literal superpowers to become the dominant gender. Interesting.

I'm more concerned with that, at least according to this, their immediate response to getting superpowers seems to be authoritarianism, enslavement, torture, and likely other war crimes.

this is the next extension of the female power fantasy that has been a novel and movie trope for a long time.

Everyone understands the male power fantasy: becoming a hero of society by enacting a significant positive change, or preventing a significant negative scenario. Becoming a respected and revered hero through a heroic act.

But the female power fantasy is rarely talked about, but it is ever prevalent, especially in popular books and movies. The female power fantasy is a woman doing whatever she wants, and despite that, being loved by everyone anyways.

This is an extension of that, with a man hating feminist twist.

Yes, it's all part of that though. There is no heroes journey, no personal growth or overcoming obstacles, as you say: "you are always perfect, it was others/society/your ex that didn't novice until now"

on a similar note, have you read the Galbrush Paradox?, explains the state of female leads in movies and videogames now.

imagine writing a woman going on a hero's journey or having a character flaw. you are guaranteed a misogynist

I don't know, this sounds so bad I might have to watch an episode or two. Don't worry, though, no money would change hands if I did end up checking it out.

It's probably too bad to even be so bad it's good, also. I predict cringe from out of the gate, probably pre-30 seconds.

This seems even more terrible than I would have imagined.

Tunde is an aspiring journalist in Nigeria who is attracted to Enuma. Before he can initiate, she zaps him and then kisses him while he is paralyzed.

Wouldn't they call that rape? I know they would if a guy did it. Besides the fact that apparently a man being attracted to a woman and doing nothing about it is grounds for electric shock therapy.

Alderman was born in London, the daughter of Geoffrey Alderman, a specialist in Anglo-Jewish history who has described himself as an unconventional Orthodox Jew.

I'm so tired bros.

On the contrary, the "dumbest shit on paper" would involve a plot that the world becomes a wonderful place once women were in charge because they are all angels, unlike men. Instead, this book actually does a good job showing most women would abuse any power they have.

Based on that plot synopsis, it could easy be used to mock feminist ideals. It almost reads like a warning: "Women can't be trusted with power."

Allie kills Tatiana and decides to take the world back to the Stone Age to reset its growth and structures based on women's powers.

And then the world stays there forever.

In December 2017, former U.S. President Barack Obama named The Power as one of his favorite books of 2017

Shocker.

Well my gut instinct would be that society would relax gun laws in due to the fact that women are basically always armed.

Then basically nothing else would change.

Like I don't think electrical bolts protect you from bullets, nor do they increase your tolerance for risk or manual labour...

This person has no idea how civilization actually functions do they?
