We did lose one unborn child, around 12 weeks, when her heart stopped beating. We never met her, we never knew her, we never even saw her beyond a grainy ultrasound picture. We grieved intensely.
I was friends with a kid with Downs in elementary school. He was a sweet guy, earnest, kind, and a good person. His mom (who was older) took care of him until the day she died. He's had a hard life since then, though he seems happy. Downs people are kind of special that way.
For me, I would have aborted a child with Downs. And I would have grieved intensely. I cannot blame anyone who makes that decision.
