HR's purpose was to help relieve hiring difficulties from management but in the 70s things were different than now. It's actually pretty easy for Hiring Managers to do everything themselves because nearly everything is automated anyhow. There's tons of bloat in HR departments. They're a relic of the past we don't need anymore.
Also, I don't think you should be so bitter/jealous about guys going to wing Wednesdays. However, the pool and house is pretty boomer coded.

What irked me was the stereotype playing out. Yes, that's a common theme. Boomers never experienced the oppression that young men face today so they don't understand and the ones that understan, often don't care.

Are wings really slop? Sure you could make the sauce out of garbage, but otherwise... they're chicken. Not mechanically separated chicken mixed with fillers or anything that industrial. They're literal bone-in chicken. Plus seasoning and heat.
The way restaurants make it makes them slop. Its deep fried low quality chicken (with hormones) then soaked in a sauce that's shipped frozen and preserved.
It can be done at home in a much healthier manner but nobody has time for that.
Nutritionally it is obviously not good for you to eat a typical meal of wings (an understatement) yet it is the go-to food for a lot of community functions. "Stuff your face with this crap" is the basic idea of goyslop.
The skin of wings is loaded with fat -> calories. Rip that off (even though it tastes oh so good) and the meal isn't so bad. Unfortunately, you don't have that option at restaurants because they presauce them.
I do love a good Buffalo sauce though. Most restaurants suck at it, but the few who are great at it... it's magnificent. I also make it at home, it does have tons of butter, especially if you need to make it mild enough to appeal to everyone in the household, but it's really just butter and hot sauce plus some optional spices if you like. As long as you don't drench your wings, there are worse meals you can have.

It's funny people say this. I've actually never had a problem with HR and have actually preferred HR to non-HR employees a lot of the time. I've also worked at the largest company in the country among other larger companies. The issue with HR for me is more about the cost to the organization.

But regarding the job, I don't think the hiring managers knew anything about my ethnicity before I showed up. I am coming from an industry that mostly white males dominate and very few foreigners are allowed to participate in. I never answer the diversity questions at the end and we spoke on the phone prior, if anything it was a colorblind selection process.

Most boomers don't know a thing about video games. If any of them know, it's to dismiss and find out how much they can profit out of it. It explains why the western game industries are doing really bad now. Boomers cannot understand the talent if they saw one, even if they hired him, they are going to let HR handle him. You thought sony was the stupid one to hire Jim Ryan as the head? It dawned on me there are a lot of Jim Ryan's within the game company. They have no knowledge of the industry they are working in, yet they got the position due to the less competitions and lack of gatekeepers.

Do you already have a job, and/or how bad do you need one? It sounds like a pretty low stress and effort position. Sure, the pay sucks, but if you have bills to pay, then its better than going without, and you have some energy left to find a better job you can monkey branch to. I dislike boomers as much as the next, however, its going to be hard to find somewhere where they aren't pulling the strings in some fashion since they refuse to relinquish their positions for their children's generation. The 'Great Dying' will happen soon enough with regard to the boomers, but have to find a way to make it there. I think the cold clutch of death is the only thing that can rip them from their selfishness, and even then... fuck their kid's inheritance, they need a new RV and boat.

It it both. But I am being deliberately vague for opsec reasons.
They should have at least invited you to Wing Wednesday. In my last interview after running some Q&A/problem solving gauntlets, the team I would later work with took me out to lunch so everyone could form first impressions and just banter in a casual atmosphere.
That said, everyone around me were at least seasoned professionals who knew their industry and had a passion and a competence for it.
