To think that not too long ago people were mocking 80s fashion. Young people today are going to look back with the utmost embarrassment in the future.
I don't disagree with you but it's very important to point out that they didn't do this by themselves. This was at its core a social contagion that was completely astroturfed by some of the richest and most well connected people in the world in terms of the media and medical establishment and government.
It doesn’t make sense for prosperous peoples and cultures of hundreds or thousands of years to suddenly and spontaneously adopt completely dysgenic behaviors. These behaviors were inculcated within whites by 60+ years of unrelenting indoctrination coming from every major Western institution. We were taught to hate ourselves. We were punished if we refused to do so. And the source of this indoctrination necessarily originated outside of ourselves.

I initially engaged with the Internet fully openly, wanting to see every cool thing out there. I had NO idea it was being used as a battleground for an ideological feud, nor just how screwed up some of the random people online were. It really is quite embarrassing to have adopted some of their ideas without understanding how any of it worked, then I tend to get intensely angry that they subjected kids to all that shit. And still are.

Here’s one explanation: white kids are realizing that the LGBTQ escape hatch won’t actually absolve them of their original sin (being white). There’s no reason to physically and irreversibly mutilate yourself in order to join the “good guys” if you’re still going to be derided as a white oppressor.
This was the point of all "queer" identities, it's about creating an entire class of people who cannot ever fit into societies and will naturally tend towards revolution because they've been indoctrinated they're whole life by marxist propaganda. It's creating a vanguard of the revolution.

I know they like to attribute the mass spike of lgbt identifying ppl to greater acceptance but I would say it has a lot to do with it being trendy. The fact that in certain areas being anything but straight and white is super trendy amongst the young speaks volumes. Take away the trendiness and you solve a chunk of the problem. Also show lgbt on tv that is an actual representation of their population and say if you want more content make your own service or streaming.

My fallback on this was the controversy around the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. That was a show about a girl who committed suicide. There had to be warnings put in front of it and there was massive national discourse over the dangers of addressing suicide in a TV show. Youths are so impressionable that even being exposed to the concept of suicide would result in offing themselves en masse (a concept mocked in the movie Heathers in 1988). But nobody challenged that. Yet when you have a show like Euphoria pushing transness, which coincided with transification of youths, nobody questioned whether it was an effect of them being impressionable rather than acceptance. Weird how that worked.
