I will say it's interesting. In arcade and videogame history there will be a new idea that standardizes a people thing. We wouldn't have 3D games without Mario 64 standardizing how things work, and then others trying to mimic it.
The good designers realize how to actually work within the system and make something great. Castlevania, Mega Man, and the Nois would not be games without SuMaBro.
