Are they staying in an apartment that's an AirBnB? Are there people that want to stay in other people's apartments?

People rent out their extra house/apartment as Airbnb, it's pretty much the same as the renting a furnished apartment for short term

I get renting a house because it's more comfortable than a motel/hotel for people. If I wanted to stay in an apartment I'd get a hotel/motel room, they are similar.

Not really. Maybe in America, where hotel rooms are nice. In Europe, there are four star hotels that don't even have a refrigerator. I've been to some. An apartment is like a "suite", with a living room, at least one bedroom, refrigerator and cooking amenities, a sofa, etc. They're also often cheaper. Availability is also an issue in some places (e.g. there's tons of apartments in a great location in Athens).

Downside is that there are no services (like laundry or baggage storage), and that in some countries they demand a picture of your passport. That's why I mostly avoid them now.

I see your point. It just seems kinda low brow to me where a house isn't.

Welcome to Europe.

A house like the one in the Simpsons is like a dream house for many Europeans, even outside major cities.

Maybe Airbnb prices for apartments are more cost effective or have better location than what the hotels are offering, sometimes in big metropolitan cities apartments are the only thing available 🤷

Better question is why anyone would want to go to India..

Because for a lot of normies, they see it as this magical spiritual land where you can do buddhism level meditations that get you to that white girl "not religious but super spiritual" nonsense.

While all the negatives are just "look at the poor poverty browns, awww" instead of a legitimate nightmare.

I'm confused. How is renting an apartment 'communism'?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– Mpetey123 3 points 326 days ago +3 / -0

It's not. He said unless you're a first world snob. So I said if hating communism is snobby, guess I'm a snob. Because the first world was anti-communists

communism? you pay for these apartments, they're not free. if anything, giving the little man a chance to compete with Big Real Estate and Big Hotel, even for a little bit, is more capitalistic than not.

that being said if God picked me up and threw me into india i'd sooner sleep on some leaves in the woods than in an indian Airbnb.

The first world refers to NATO and their allies. The second world refers to the Warsaw Pact and their allies. The third world refers to neutral countries

So the PRC was the First World after Nixon went to China?

Agreed, but it was an American ally and an enemy to the Warsaw Pact. So that division has some issues.

First World: developed capitalist countries.
Second World: communist countries.
Third World: undeveloped countries.

Fun fact: many Americans think that football (our football, the real football) is a "communist" sport. They lose at it, so obviously it's COMMUNISM.

I'm not questioning its veracity because of something any Indian said, but because it defies belief. Even if I didn't care about throwing trash into the street, I wouldn't be doing it where I live or where my job is.

And some of the stuff in the street food videos is so unbelievable and disgusting that I don't want to even mention it. But maybe it's a "worst of the worst"? People on this sub view videos from Paris when it's a mess, and they think that's what it is like all the time. And people here think that America is just mass shootings all the time. It's difficult to tell what things are actually like when you're not actually there.

Could be but, there's a game on the internet where you use google earth or google map street view and see how many tries before you find trash in a random spot in India. You usually get it in 1 unless you're in total bumfuck nowheresville.

Bonus if you land on rubbish pile, which is multiple on the same street in most cities minus the nice part of town.

If I had nothing better to do, I'd go find that hotel and google street that place and look at the other side of the wall. But I already know the answer.

It's the ''PIndia challenge''.

Drop in google street anywhere in India, check around 360°, if you see trash/rubbish/rubble, you lose.

Most difficult game to win.
