Feminism. If women spend their prime fertility years careering and partying, then the birthrate will collapse.
This really needs to be at the forefront of the fertility discussion but so few out there have the balls to even suggest it might be something that needs to get addressed.

I could make a lot of guesses. Democrats are more likely to be neurotic doomsday cultists who think fascism or climate change will ruin America for their children, Democrat counties are more likely to be crime-ridden cities with high costs of living, Democrats are of course more willing to kill their children or castrate their children or themselves. Republican counties apparently have higher divorce rates, but even that is in part because people in red states marry and have kids earlier in life.
You can eliminate “cost of living” as a legitimate factor. The poorest people have the most children.
