The finale, To Sirloin with Love, gets a lot of praise how well it worked as a capping point so of course in $CurrentYear+11 the originally very popular show needs brought back because the creativity sum total of the entertainment industry these days amounts to 3 hobos fighting each other for who gets to eat the paint while the house is burning down and the condemned signs are rotting for having been up so long.
I absolutely love King of the Hill, and basically anything Mike Judge did back in the day, but if this is somehow not woke then I will be VERY surprised.
Both Beavis and Butt-Head revivals were pretty good, I'll give KOTH a shot. Not like I'm going to be paying for any subscriptions or anything to watch it.
What will be really amazing if somehow there's a Goode Family revival. That failed because making fun of liberals in the early 2000's didn't have the same punch as it can now.

You can't make the same "well meaning, but maybe a little ignorant and outdated" jokes with Liberals in any era as you can with KOTH. To make them Left enough to be a parody, you end up with the malice that undercuts all their beliefs.
I mean, that show had them upset that their adopted African child wasn't black. Which anyone can immediately clock shows them as very terrible people that you can't get around in the same way you can with Hank Hill trying to beat up someone who he thinks insulted his family.
Yeah, at the time it was making fun of the Whole Foods pompous liberals, this was years before the 'social justice' bullshit really took off. I remember one scene where the mother forgot her cloth shopping bags and all the other shoppers were whispering judgements when the cashier asked "paper or plastic?". The mother then triumphantly said "none, I'll carry my groceries out by hand, reusable bags are (made by child labor? I can't remember what she said to one-up the liberal grandstanding)". The father was some twink college professor, the daughter was a malcontent activist but was never really depicted as being wrong, and the grandfather was a boomer conservative who was the voice of reason.
True but it had some great moments like Hank being upset with the lazy guy at work who refused to do anything or him pushing that liberal professor into the dig site.
I hope it’s good. This is one of my favorite shows and the creator is a true Texan and did Texas humor so well. I have the same fear I have for all modern remakes
Why do I totally expect to completely line up with Dale? Looking at the trailer they are totally going to make him the voice of true reason. Which of course is perfect because he was already a conspiracy theorist so it's just what they want.
I might go sailing just to see how it is. I don't trust them to give him money. I feel like I can almost write the season in my head just from the trailer.
I’m cautiously optimistic, It’ll depend on how much involvement Mike Judge has with the writing. He didn’t do any writing for KOTH after season 1 iirc. Losing Dale’s VA will be a huge blow but I think choosing Toby Huss is the best option they could have picked.
Fucking hell, another show that DID NOT NEED a revival

I mean, paying for tv is cringe.

LMAO. I forgot that part. I remember the episode where they had the gardeners and thought they were Mexicans but they were actually Romanians.

What channel was Goode family on?
Yeah, I have zero memory of that show.
It was ABC.
The show was always center left. I imagine it will be more leftish now.
True but it had some great moments like Hank being upset with the lazy guy at work who refused to do anything or him pushing that liberal professor into the dig site.
Same here but I heard the Beavis and Butt ahead revival wasn’t bad.
Have yet to watch that tbh.
I wonder what they'll do with Dale's VA dying last year. I always liked the show, but futurama was a dud and I don't have high hopes for this one.
The guy who does Khan's voice is slated to take over Dale's voice.
They should just give him the hardcore smoker voice to explain it away.

August 4th on Hulu. All 10 episodes will drop the same day.
Given how Hulu's fully owned and controlled by Disney that does warrant some concern.
So grown-Bobby has no wife or children and lives with his parents.
Depressingly acurate.
I think he is a fusion chef in Dallas. And I think he's 21 in the show.
In that case he's doing pretty well for himself, especially at 21.
Dallas? Sallad.

Frankly? I'm just happy he didn't marry his gook neighbour and created mongrel children
There are worse fates than to be unwed

I noticed in the sequence Dale isn't wearing the mask, he has it pulled down.
I thought the black guy wearing a mask was fake... fuck...
It looks like the Hills sold their house for a bit, then bought it back

I wonder what they will do with Luann and Lucky.
I'll be hoping for a Chuck Mangione and Feels So Good cameo.

I feel like it's going to be moved far away but referenced rather frequently sort of thing.
Heard rumors that "Dale went so far right he's now left" and Connie is "ethically non-monogamous." I'm not surprised, but it's still disappointing.
Not sure if they will even have Dale as his voice actor (Johnny Hardwick) died in 2023.
They said he did a few scenes or episodes but it was probably easier to just redo everything from go than have a mid season switch.
RIP Dale. I enjoyed Johnny Hardwick in Cop Shop
I think he recorded the first season. And Huss is doing what was left in the second season, and any future seasons
Apparently they recast him
