Do you think woke people would accept it if you made a game set in a traditional african village and for some reason there were White people in african clothes just wondering about like they belong there? (Remember they complained about White actors in the crowd in the Aladdin live action movie https://archive.ph/84oi2)
Thats what i think when i see some games that randomly shove black npcs in East Asian or European settings.
Rune factory 6 (edit: sorry i meant Rune factory Guardians of Azuma) has black npcs despite being set in a feudal Japan setting. (and also lgbt but i already knew they had gone woke since rune factory 5 when they added gay marriage in that one too when the localizers asked them to)
Edit: lol redditors downvoting me.
The crux is they lost any good faith that what they are doing when they do this that it's not done for any malicious will.
Go back a decade and we didn't bat an eye at something like Afro Samurai or even that Robin Hood film with Morgan Freeman in it. Their malice over the years has just led it to where we turn off instantly nowadays.
The propaganda has been going on for a long time, its just that only recently that people have been taking notice of it.
To be fair, the propaganda back then was more subtle, which is why so many people were duped by it. It was almost entirely egalitarianist and race blind, where the diversity characters acted mostly like White people, and the White characters weren't used to humiliate White people. There were some exceptions, but you're right that people are noticing it a lot more now, because it's become extremely obvious, antagonistic, and anti-White.
The humiliation of men by women has long been an advertsiing technique. Women buy most of the crap. Sayings to the effect of "your husband doesn't know" appeal.
And at some point this was cute. Men bought beer and lawnmowers, which were advertised to men perhaps in the same way. With the race thing, it clearly left the realm of cute family relationships joke and entered anti white territory.
My favourite X-man was Bishop (I always loved his time travel backstory). And Wesley Snipes as Blade was a billion times cooler than anything Marvel have shat out over the past decade. And I literally failed a few classes due to time wasted playing San Andreas instead of studying.
Never had a problem with blacks in a game, only in games where they objectively didn’t belong due to the devs being either threatened, bribed or brainwashed into going woke (looking at you, Vavra).
What about "fantasy" settings with themes based on real locations? Like fantasy medieval settings. Is that what Rune Factory is? That always gives the developers an easy cop-out, especially when it's high fantasy with dragons and magick. "It's not real bro!"
Dishonored 2 just about hit my limit for the idea, even though it didn't hurt the gameplay to have random black guards. Dishonored 1 had a fictional Africa in the lore, but AFAIK Dishonored 2 never explained why people from there were in Karnaca or how they could be soldiers. It didn't really HAVE to either, but it takes you out of the setting for a moment. Out of universe we knew the real reason. Picture caption: "Meet some of Karnaca's finest guards".
i dont care if its "fantasy" and not real and neither do they. Like i said , ask them if they are ok with White npcs wondering around in African clothes in an African looking setting.
Actually exclusively White NPCs in an African looking setting would be fine. That is if you don't strive to be historically accurate.
Ethnic heterogeneity in a setting where it makes no sense is what the actual problem is. Shit needs to be explainable and 'duuuuuuh magic!" is not an explanation as to why an isolated medieval society looks like modern day Los Angeles.
Which is why the Fremen in Dunc pissed me off. It's not the fact that they predictably decided that they needed to be non-White. It's the fact that they weren't even racially homogeneous.
Its fine to YOU , but It wouldnt be fine to woke people. it only goes one way. You can shove black people in to White or East asian settings but you can't shove White people in to an African setting without woke people complaining about it.
Yeah I know. I wasn't talking about woke people. I was talking about myself.
I do not support diverse NPCs at all. Regardless if its "fantasy" or not If there must be different races in a game, then it needs to be a planet full of black people and a planet full of White people, i do not like settings where everyone is mixed up, its just a psyop promoting the Kalergi plan.
What is that supposed to mean? If you have a game or any piece of media that spans an entire world how the fuck are multiple races and species a psyop promoting the Kalergi plan?
Is Africa, Europe, Asia, America and Australia a psyop?
Did you read what i said at all?
Did you not understand what i meant by this? that i don't mind different races in games as long as they are segregated? like i dont mind the all White Hylians and all black Gurandos are both in Legend of Zelda and live in seperate lands, but it becomes a problem when they started introducing brown Hylians in the recent games
No, if you talk about planets I'm not going to assume that's what you meant especially if that's quite literally what I said and your reply gives off the strong impression that you're disagreeing with me.
Well i said "if there must be different races in a game then there should be a black planet and a White planet. "
read properly and think properly its obvious what i meant.
If I had to play Devil's Advocate for Dishonored 2, you could argue that the population of blacks in Karnaca could make sense with the city being very port heavy. That said, so was Dunwall, and you didn't have the dynamic there. Still doesn't necessarily explain the higher ranking positions though, unless we're suggesting it's just a more ""modern"" resemblance, rather than anything resembling a coherent, structured lore.
Yes that's exactly what I did - quickly came up with a reasonable mental rationale for their presence. I lost suspension of disbelief, but only for a moment.
i dont mind fantasy worlds that have lands where black people live. and i'm fine with the rare person of those lands coming to other lands if it makes sense.
witcher 1 is an example with Azar Javed. far away land, sorcerer (read powerful).
random people being black? okay you require a roman like empire.
How stunning and brave you are for saying this novel thought.
seems asians does european fantasy better than european/na doing european fantasy games lol.
Not in recent years they dont. JRPGs have been adding more and more niggers in to games as of late.
Hence my post about Rune Factory 6(edit: i mean rune factory guardians of azuma). And In the Legend of Zelda the Hylians used to be an exclusively White race, now its mixed in with browns as well in recent games.
Nude mods are fine, as long as they don't make gay people straight by changing the genitals, then you're banned. And blackwashing mods are fine, but whitewashing ones will get you banned from every mod database.
Nexus will ban that mod but yes.
I took those to be more like southern Japanese/Okinawan island people-inspired.
there's a certain limit to what i accept. If it gets to black black levels then im going to start thinking they are actually black and not just a "tanned Japanese" The NPCs that were added in Rune factory guardians of azuma were very very dark .
I do not accept blacks.
Go further
Reject them, even in games set in africa.
You don't win a fight by starting at the compromise position.
Do I think woke people would accept your scenario, why yes I do think they would. These aren't principled people, they're sheep looking for atta boys
The one setting I'll not only accept it, but commend the realism is bleak near-future settings like Starfield. Most people being some kind of dysgenic mutt is a brilliant illustration of what would be the result of the kelgeri plan coming to fruition. Can't go too far into the future with that, as eventuality human populations would homogenize into distinct phenotypes again. But Bethesda, entirely by accident, made everyone perfectly ugly.
I’m still not sure why this matters. Is the game good or not? When I played Ninja Gaiden back in the day the pixel colors weren’t an issue.
It is a signal.
Would I eat at a restaurant with a big sign out front saying "tastes like shit, and we spit in your food!"... Maybe? Could be some kind of anti-marketing gimmick, and maybe the food is great and the service is impeccable. But maybe, just maybe, the food tastes like shit and the staff spit on the food.
Putting these things in is signalling that you have a bad game, that you've spent money, man-hours, marketing efforts, and artist funding, on something that NO GAMER EVER CARES ABOUT. You're signalling that your primary effort is NOT making a good game. You're loudly declaring to the world "we don't care about good gameplay" when you make these choices, because you DID make choices: That money from the diversity consultant could have gone into hiring more bug-testers, for the simplest, clearest example. Give a million to Sweet Baby Inc., then you don't have that million to give to 50 artists, playtesters, and programmers to actually make a good game.
That restaurant is called Dick’s Last Resort. People do go there and the food is good. What’s your point? If by signal you mean indicator, then I agree with you. But that doesn’t mean it actually sucks. I’ve played plenty of games that suck. This might be one but I haven’t played it. If I play it and it sucks then I’ll move on to something else. It’s not an emotional decision.
