I remember seeing the first inroads of faggotry in mainstream culture when, in smaller numbers back then, they began insisting that Frodo and Sam were gay in the Lord of the Rings movies, merely because they loved each other as close friends.

We haven't had a proper bro-bonding game since Gears of War 2. It was funny because I didn't care for Gears of War 3 all that much, but recently reinstalled Gears 2. I was going through some comments on YouTube about how gay most games have become, and quite a few people were also talking about how much of a bro-bonding game Gears of War 2 was.
So yeah, the industry is trying to turn all male bonding experiences into faggotry This is also the thing a lot of the moderates who claim "one gay romance doesn't matter; it's still a good game" don't understand: it completely removes the ability to have a deep, friendship bond with another male character in the game; ride or die together. It always turns into faggotry.
After Gears of War 2 we never had that kind of strong, male-only bonding experience in an AAA game; guys who would ride and die for each other without being faggot-filled. Hence, whenever games start adding that stuff, it's 100% of the time a slippery slope toward slop like Veilguard.
It's also why Baldur's Gate 3 is an absolute no-go; you absolutely cannot have a strong, unbreakable bond with a character in the game without it eventually turning to faggotry. There is a cut-off to how close you can get. Relationships like those depicted in Band of Brothers or Brothers in Arms are simply not possible, and they do this on purpose to push the agenda that anyone you get really close to has to turn sexual due to their porn-adled thinking process.
Gears 2 is a really underrated game in terms of sheer bro. There are so many moments of men just being men, while also being able to show how badly they are being effected by the weight of the world. And it never mocks or undermines them as men for that.
I think that's what is missing the most from all media these days. There always has to be a joke or a quip about these things that shows you the writers do think its a little cringe or a little gay, and that ruins the entire thing by putting you on guard for that judgement.
Exactly. Someone mentioned Garrus from Mass Effect 2, and I have to concur with that assessment as well. Great writing for his character. I'm unsure if they gayed him up in Mass Effect 3, didn't play it. But for the first two games he was a good bro you could be a strong bond with. Obviously since it was a choice-driven RPG, you didn't get the stronger moments Dom and Marcus shared in Gears of War 2, especially after Dom discovered what happened to Maria.
And that highlights a very good point you made about the strength of the writing there -- it took itself seriously within the world they created. No jokes, no quips, no ironic or insincere fourth-wall breaking to remind everyone "it's just fiction". They played it straight, and that's what made it stand out.
I think that's also what makes KCD2 sting so badly, because they removed, or rather replaced, the strong bro-bond for faggotry. You want to get extra close? Sure, but now you're a faggot.
They didn't gay him up, and unironically the end of his quest chain in Mass Effect 3 is one of the most redeeming elements of the game. Legit one of my favorite scenes in gaming ever and they absolutely nailed that final bit. Well worth youtubing it just because of how excellent it is.
Also the fact that if you don't romance him, he starts an offscreen one of his own with Tali means he is the most heterosexual male in existence with excellent taste in women.
Its one of the reasons why ME3 is so hateable. Because its filled with moments that show they could create those satisfying conclusions and beats, but instead they turn it into a number and a "pick your color" ending.
Its the same problem as when you add a single woman into any room of men. Now, no matter what, fucking has been added to the equation. No matter how small the chance, no matter how ridiculous the scenario has to be for it to happen, the possibility is now brewing in your mind.
And that changes everything. You will second guess every interaction, you will run through everything you say an extra time, and it just cannot be the same. Its a door that has to remain firmly closed or it will bleed all over everything.

Who is besieging Kuttenberg I honestly don't know. I read somewhere it's actually Henry with an army and the entire game is basically just a flashback about how Henry managed to raise and army to besiege the city. Musa, the whoremonging Muslim negro is supposedly an important ally as is his Jewish half brother from the Jewish quarter of Kuttenberg that didn't exist until the late 19th century. The entire story seems to be a big mess.
