...how fun it was to get panicked all-company emails about every little thing Trump does.
Today was whether we would lose positions because of the pause on federal loans.
This kind of thing makes me wonder how fragile the system really is. Maybe you could make a significant impact by getting a true believer in and turning off the tap for four or eight years. Someone who has a better bite/bark ratio than Trump.
My company had a big virtual meeting to assure everyone that the DEI program wasn’t going anywhere. How stunning and brave!
If it receives funding from the government, report it.
It doesn’t, or at least I don’t think so but I can check
How much trouble would you get in if you replied with, "aw, that's too bad"? Id have to bite my tounge clean off to stop myself if I was in your position.
Probably get fired. I keep my mouth shut about that issue and give criticism on the anonymous review. A few years back a lady got fired for an “inappropriate” gay joke she told her co-worker. They had known each other for years and he thought it was funny. Unfortunately someone overheard and ran to HR
Trump's bite/bark ratio does seem better this time. I don't know if it will last but he really hit the ground running and it's very encouraging.
The last week has been insane.
I normally have news podcasts playing pretty much 10-12 hours a day while working. On a typical news cycle, lots of podcasts will cover the same stuff.
Last week and continuing to today, they have all been covering completely different topics because so much is going down. Firings, executive orders, deportations, multiple senate confirmations, legal proceedings ... it's been nuts. It didn't even slow down for the weekend.
It has been a roller coaster ride so far all down-hill. I hope it continues.
Yeah, I've noticed this too. The media cycle can't keep up.
Looking at it now, this is basically what was done to us by the Left several times when they knew they would get a policy backlash.
The difference was that when we complained about them doing one of the 100 policy proposals, they would turn around and tell us that it didn't happen and never existed while it was being carried out.
It would be like keeping everything the same, but then telling Leftists that "there have been no ICE raids."
There is no censorship bureau or board of misinformation, certainly no misinformation czar. Ok, there is but they have no real power, and it's not violating the first amendment, it's a conspiracy that Biden signed an executive order ushering in 1984-like conditions. Nina Jankowitch was let go because conservatives are fascists, Biden was only trying to save lives. The Twitter files are a nothing-burger! 51 former intel...
If he keeps going at this rate for his entire term then they're going to mount more assassination attempts.
I agree but if JD Vance is as legit as he projects himself to be (obviously not guaranteed by any means), they will need two assassinations and by that point the Deep State will have woken up way too many more people for their liking. There's a reason they had largely stopped doing very high profile assassinations.
I'm cautiously optimistic though. People bring up Pence as the obvious comparison but even at his "best" Pence never looked even 10% as good as Vance.
Even at his best the hope with Pence was that the Dems didn't want a true stodgy conservative in office. Trump has always been more moderate than the GOP writ large, even if that was counter to the media narrative.
That was a bad plan, and the shaky alliance obviously fell apart. I don't blame Pence as much as others -- what loyalty did he really have to MAGA? But the Vance pick is certainly looking like a home run now.
This isn't a MAGA or not thing. Its he failed in his duty to the American people who he was elected to represent, and for that he deserves every bit of scorn possible from those same people.
He doesn't get partial credit for "well we always knew he was going to be a snake."
I think the moment he loses this momentum is when the Dems get to start reacting instead of being on the back foot, and that's why he will grind to a halt with lawfare nonsense.
Which I think he knows too, which is why its shotgunning daily.
It's blitzkrieg. He just doing a torrent of shit so that they can't catch their breath and coordinate. A maelstrom of executive actions. The one thing the left is good at is capitalizing on situations but that takes time, even if just a week. So he bombards them with three months worth of shit in six days so they can't mount a defense. It's actually a brilliant strategy. They can't even mount counter propaganda fast enough because by the time they form a narrative it's old news and he's done ten more things.
Their outrage machine can only sustain a single outrage at once.
Why was the entire front page of reddit Elon's heartfelt "salute" and not killing DEI or withdrawing from WHO or any of a dozen other things?
Because Landru only has one voice. If the Betans get two conflicting orders at once they're confused and disorganized.
That's true. I remember vox day talking about how little he did, and according to him, now he's gone from the usual republican strategy of too much talk and too little action to being even more proactive at fulfilling his objectives and taking down DEI than Ron Desantis was during the Biden years. It's great to see.
Making up for lost time.
What's interesting to me is that the obvious successor to Trump, JD Vance, is getting a front row seat spectator view of all that is going on, and will get to see every strategy the Bureaucratic Leviathan uses to resist reform.
Nothing will beat the email we got from HR on Jan 7th letting us know that because of the tragic attack on our democracy the company will do their best to accommodate any employee who needs to speak to a counselor or take some time off.
Did you take the day off just because? We got something like that after Charlottesville
A lot less of those since moving to Florida. Still have lefty friends declaring the war must go on against the evil Republicans and Trumpler.
I haven't seen a peep at work. How disappointing. After Nov 5 there was a thread someone asking started on a company-wide mailing list about how to take PTO for "mental health", but nothing after Jan 20.
That sounds great. So not only did Trump win, but the company also gave everyone a day off to celebrate?
Nah, just some faggots tried to get a muh mental health day and were told to take it out of their normal PTO pool.
