It’s only a matter of time before we have an airline disaster in the U.S. thanks to incompetent ATC (youtu.be)

Good thing the vaxxers drove away all the real people from flying huh.

Within the past 18 months, we have had near collisions in NYC and Austin, and an actual collision in Houston. As the linked video by airline pilot Juan Browne shows, we had three more near misses recently. There is a competency crisis within the ranks of air traffic controllers, and at this rate, eventually our collective luck will run out and we’ll have a Tenerife style disaster.

There is a competency crisis with pilots, builders, and mechanics too. Just see Boeing's troubles with planes falling apart lately. The double hit of DEI hiring and the forcing out of anyone who refused the vax has completely destroyed the aviation industry. I'm shocked that there hasn't been a disaster already honestly.

To make a diversity omlett you need to break a few eggs

Competency crisis is just a symptom of hiring niggers and beaners white women and any other unqualified losers because they fit a DEI agenda.

Stop hiring lower forms of intelligence and you'll stop having problems.

This is the problem with DEI.

If you lacked the self discipline to study and earn your job via merit - you probably lack the discipline and concentration to DO THE JOB safely.

everyone is not equal. working out more won't make most white men good basketball players. studying harder won't make most black women good airline pilots.

it really isn't about discipline, it's about the real and unavoidable differences in people. racial differences are real. this makes some people cry because they hate white men, but it is in fact our reality.

Anyone with a somewhat wide variety of experience in activities will know this.

I played rugby for about 7 years and it was crazy watching some black kid walk onto the pitch and be faster than every other white person there just, casually. The mfs wouldn't even practice and we had to discipline or kick some off the team until/unless they went to practice and were good teammates.

I almost didn't blame them when they're just better in that manner. Not many blacks interested in rugby in the USA when they can easily go for basketball or football, so they were going against mostly white teams and it was goofy sometimes watching these fellas juke entire teams.

That being said, they were also dumb as shit. Definitely not scholars in the making

I mean, what are they supposed to do? Not fly? I fly semi regularly for work and there is no way around it other than getting a different job where the travel isn't as far.

As shitty as DEI is, and as much as I agree with the notion that we will probably have an accident caused by lack of competency, the fact remains it is 1/1,000,000 or less to end up involved in that accident. Not exactly the type of odds someone will drastically change their life to avoid.

Yeah that thought crossed my mind when I wrote it lmao. NPCs will, but only for reasons that align with their programming.

Yeah, there's still a lot of checks going on with flying, there's multiple people looking to avoid incidents. It's beaten into you for flight instruction to check everything. If I hadn't looked down the runway before crossing to make sure it was clear, I'd have heard about it.

I'd rather work on the roads, throw some of these idiots off the road. That would work hundred-fold for adding days to my life over anything with flying.

Pete Buttgag is working tirelessly to make our roads safer by pointing out the inherent racism in bridge and tunnel design.

don't worry. driving and train deaths are going up too, and will continue to as our infrastructure crumbles and we put 'ethnics' and women in charge. there is no place to hide.

The absolute mental destruction the school system has wrought on kids for the last few decades is starting to get apparent on the roads these days.

I've legit seen what looked a 20-something woman crash their car into a post trying to turn from a stoplight. Nothing around, just incapable of navigating a normal bend from stopped. I don't even think they were chemically influenced at the time, they looked alert when they got out, they're just that useless.

I don’t understand all the kids not interested in driving at all. I’m not talking NYC or some place like that, I mean places where driving is the only way around. Yeah, they are mostly females, but still. When I was that age, driving was freedom. We couldn’t wait to drive for anything from not having to ride the school bus to being able to go places freely. I suspect it’s partly about getting everything they want already. Driving and a job opened up the infinite amount of things my parents would have said no on to being in the realm of possibility.

And as I think I first saw on Top Gear, if you’re not interested in driving, of course you’re not any good at it. Probably on the hilarious Peugeot episode.

Personally I chalk most of it up to them being both anxiety crippled wrecks and useless retards. Driving is too complicated and stressful for their hamstrung mental capacity, so their anxiety avoidance kicks in and they run away from the prospect.

A few times a year? That's nothing to worry about. And even with all this diversity bullcrap, it's way safer than driving - which is not to justify how they are making it unsafe.

EDIT: Not triggered by the downvotes, but I'm very curious what people disagree with. Can someone explain?

Need women out of the tower even more than off the flight deck. ATC is a more demanding job than pilot, especially an airline crew of two where they can split duties. Listen to them screech and panic.

I'm a licensed pilot, albeit with much less experience than any airline pilot. The only time an ATC ever gave me the impression they were overwhelmed, it was a woman. It's not a job they are fit for. There's rude ATC, there's amazingly good ATC, but a pilot feeling like ATC is overwhelmed is rare. I was really only skirting their control area and it was a clusterfuck, so I just changed course a bit and left their area. On the other hand, I've had competent controllers on a busy channel be so situationally aware that they advise me of traffic in my area, despite me putzing around VFR in a small plane not near the busy airport and that not being a requirement or priority for them to do so.

I'm glad I pretty much don't fly. Although you can't escape it; as someone else mentioned, everyone probably has someone they know who flies. And we all live under planes so, even if the chances are astronomically small, all this incompetence has still greatly increased the chances of planes colliding in midair over our heads. Again, it's still near-zero, but it's not as near to zero as it used to be.

Plus, it goes so far beyond planes. This is just one example, but it's everywhere.

The uptick in near misses on the ground and snarky girlboss controllers has been noted. Keep an eye on channels like Blancolirio and VASAviation

I would add Mentour to that list. He doesn't get into the DEI aspect, but he covers the multitude of fuckups by DEI hires (and non-European pilots) openly.

I like listening to the atc comm videos, it's not just atc that's incompetent. The worst yet would be air chyna that was obviously reading from a script.

But given that it's current year, I'm just avoiding flying at all. Atm I trust aeroflot more than Boeing.

Aeroflot is about 1/3 Boeing in it's fleet. The 777 predate the dei craze though and are pretty nice.

I still prefer Korean Air.

While DEI bullshit certainly has a part in this, I'm not gonna let republicans off the hook for government shut downs that caused tons of competent federal employees to leave because their paycheck was being held up, or for their general hostility towards ATC's since Reagan cracked down on their union.

Government red tape ranges from nauseating to infuriating, but when it comes to shit like air travel, give the nerds what they need to do their job properly, instead of cutting corners and treating highly qualified people who can go elsewhere like shit. Not all government bureaucracy is the same, I absolutely believe that the department of education needs to be gutted for instance, but sometimes red tape is there for a reason, and running government organizations like a business is a horrible idea.

My point here isn't to discount how disastrous it can be when you put Didn't Earn It hires in places they clearly don't belong, it's absolutely abhorrent that some neurotic obsession with "fairness" is being placed before people's lives. But neoliberal Reaganite bullshit is largely responsible for opening the door to that pozz. Once you fill government bureaucracies with consultant-brained business school assholes you create a culture that's rife with professional bullshitters, and DEI is an awfully good excuse to cut corners by hiring underqualified people who won't second-guess your bad decisions while getting rid of those pesky expensive white males who always call you out for said decisions.

Or perhaps this business shouldn't have to run like a government organization. Likewise Department of Education shouldn't exist. You can't ask for something to be government managed and then complain when you're beholden to political pissing contests.

You can't ask for something to be government managed and then complain when you're beholden to political pissing contests.

That's a slick way of saying that the problem with anything being government run is that there are corrupt shitbags willing to sabotage vital institutions for short-term wins.

Going by that logic let's privatize policing too, because we can't rely on government-run police to not be sabotaged by the games that Dems are playing.

Personally I think any politician, regardless of party, willing to sabotage their own government for political wins that they couldn't get fairly, should be made to help test new jet engines for how much debris they can withstand.

I'm guessing we're going to have AI overseeing all ATC and flagging idiocy in real time soon. Then at some point they'll probably broom out all the human controllers. Same with pilots.
