Yes, it has a strong female girl boss, an over representation of POCs, and most of the white men are inept, stupid, and subordinate. But we won't call it woke, because we call everything woke.

Fallout 1 and 2 are best. Before it was turned into a woke cartoon by Bethesda
I only read that it was retconning Fallout 1 & 2 and NV as well. Basically everything non Bethesda is now officially (since the show is canon) wrong.
I wanted to play new Vegas first. Or at least that’s the one I’m told to start with. I’ve heard it was bland but what you describe is pretty much what I expect from any current year western show/movie
I started with Fallout 3. Since that's my first I'm partial to it. I know NV is the chic choice for the Fallout series, but 3 aint bad
I think 3 is made worse in retrospect when you see what Bethesda did with 4 and 76. If you never play those it’s much better.
Cool. I’ve been told since I’m a Skyrim addict that fallout has similar gameplay so I should try it out
I'd disagree, que sera sera. I recall a lot of discussions about glitches and the ending being silly because one of your companions could survive the ending, with no problems
FO3 is bad, particularly if you'd gotten to experience the much better dialogue and harshness of the first two games to temper your expectations.
And yeah, the ending is stupid.
You: Hey, you're immune to radiation, can you go push that button so I don't have to die?
"I’m sorry, my companion, but no. We all have our own destinies, and yours culminates here. I would not rob you of that." - Literal quote from the game
Fuck you, Todd.
I'm the oddity yet again in that I liked 3 and maybe even 4 more than NV. 4's story kinda sucks though. A ton of it's criticism is legit, but I still liked the weapon crafting and gunplay better. Don't get me wrong I very much enjoyed New Vegas but I'd echo the bland.
A lot of it depends on what you're playing for. If it's a more detailed RPG with stats and factions and all of that, then New Vegas easily fits that the best. If it's a little more of an action shooter than 4. 3 is still my favorite if not for anything but wiping out the commies with Liberty Prime.
I'm sure my statement will be unpopular. Liking anything but New Vegas as the best is typically met with the same reaction as if I were grooming kids to be trannies.
Yeah, I think it goes back to when I was still a Reddit user ages ago on normie gaming discussions. It seemed New Vegas as the best Fallout, Souls(like) games are far and away the best genre, and The Last of Us is the greatest game ever were three of the opinions you must agree with if not wanting to get railroaded. Everyone here is smarter and capable of opinion it seems.
People who play New Vegas don't actually play it. More so than most games. They play a heavily modded version (which removes all the bugs that make it literally unplayable half the time) and cannot remember the vanilla experience.
So its one of those sacred cows were they have distorted their own view based on memes and curtailed experiences until it doesn't make sense to anyone outside it.
I mean... it's certainly a unique take. 3 and NV are basically the same game, mechanics wise, so the fact that you prefer 3 over NV... well, uh, knock yourself out, I guess. I'm not one to deny a man his big, stompy robots.
Yeah they are the same for the most part to play. I think as someone else mentioned I did like the ruined DC a lot too. If I recall the first playthrough of NV I hit a game breaking bug and had to start over, so bad luck played part.
I do actually like them both though. I may replay both of them again over the next 12 months, maybe my idea will change.
I liked 3 more than NV too. I don't play RPGs for the role playing though. I play them to minmax the shit out of my character and become an unstoppable god.
Haha yeah, I almost posted that sentiment on the thread about escapism vs woke games. I like to be a total badass in games. Even ones that border on realistic.
The plot for FO 3 is patent nonsense.
You can literally make a water filter out of logs and sand. Radioactive materials are either heavy as fuck (comparable to lead) or short-lived.
Forcing the main character to kill themselves was just stupid.
I guess you just didn't understand anything about radioactive particulates and you just didn't give a fuck?
Correct.
I can experience realism in the world away from games. I allow games to let me carry a backpack full of weapons in such a way that is not humanly possible, crash a car without myself or the car taking damage, and fly around unrealistically in the air with flailing swords chopping enemies in ways that would never make sense. I'm not going to get irritated over some water purification.
Whereas I don't want to be treated like a mouth-breathing moron by someone who honestly, genuinely thinks that their audience is too stupid to notice, and can not be bothered to write something better.
I could be one drink short of black-out drunk and write a better main plot on a napkin than this.
The concept of Fallout and Fallout 2 was to bring the experience of TableTop RPGs to a computer game. Fallout 3 was made for a Console 'Tard audience who was almost too stupid to breathe and certainly too stupid to read any dialog. As a result it made huge amounts of money.
Let me guess. The first time you played Fallout 3 was on an X-Box? That was your first experience with the Fallout franchise? Am I close?
Yes. Go ahead turn your nose down on console, feel intellectually superior, or whatever else makes you feel good. It won't bother me.
It is nothing to do with the hardware. It is everything to do with the audience.
Before the console, PCs were an expensive tool used by professionals. Computer games propagated through white collar professionals and their nerd-spawn. There was an entire body of work on PCs only that were only available to hard-core hobbyists.
Text Based Adventure games, then Graphical Adventure Games, Flight Simulators and Space Fighter Simulators, Real Time Strategy Games.
Then consoles arrived. The console is a toy. It has a few buttons. Interactions are limited to a controller. You can't possibly program your own games. Console gamers can only sit down and consume the pre-packaged content.
X-Box players think that Halo was the first ever FPS. They run and gun through every game, skipping the dialog. They can't even type.
Entire genres of games disappear because for decades games are made for consoles and then ported to PCs.
Because console 'tards have no experience playing games, the have simple tastes. They don't get complex stories or game mechanics. They don't understand or care for rich game-play experiences.
For example the last three months of Bioshock development was spent ripping out story and simplifying gameplay so Console 'Tards would like it.
At the time of Fallout 3 the entire fucking world was declaring that stupid, insipid game to be one of the greatest games of all time. It made thousands of top ten lists. All of the 'tarded fan-boys were ranting about how stupid isometric turn based combat was, and how FPS was the way of the future.
I bet you never played a single session of any TTRPG before you played Fallout 3!
Decades later consoles are drying up. The 'Tard Tax for consoles isn't worth the exclusives you get.
The Console 'Tards are finally starting to get educated as to what a great story or good gameplay can bring to the artform.
Now you are whining and complaining about how these idiot children know nothing other than Roblox, Minecraft and Fortnight. About how Zoomers are vomiting stupid all over your beloved Mass Effect and GTA.
Enjoy. You fucking earned it.
Nah. I was a fan of the series since the first game, so I have zero interest in seeing how badly Amazon butchers it and if it's worse than Wheel of Time was.
I don't think anything can be worse than what Amazon did to WOT
-Woke girlboss heroine who needs vaaaaalidation
-BoS are ebil whities enslaving the darkie
What more is there to say?
Ironically, that's all wrong and not the show.
It's more an attack on lore as it de cannonises Fallout New Vegas and aspects of 2
No I don't.
Then why did you comment, silly?
I'm was just going to make a post about it, just finished watching it (I had a free day weirdly on this day, go figure). Took notes throughout and I'll be detailing it as worth going though.
Short answer, it doesn't outright suck, I know weird.
That's how they get you. They suck you in with a decent season 1 then turn up the woke to 11 in season 2 onwards.
Well it does have Westworld people behind it.
Ahhhhh. The Westworld TV series treatment .
Maybe but this would be the worst time to do it, ESG is running dry and even the normies are tired of woke.
I see the 'sympathetic villian' as the last attempt, they compensated with the Black wife being the biggest cunt and making a main white guys the most competent of the show but we'll see.
Amazon is a bit of a mixed bag, they make WoT and LotR but also Reacher and Terminal List.
When the girl that Reacher bangs (there's one in each book) appeared on screen and she turned out to be White I was like "what the fuck is happening here? who let you in here?"
Amazon still sucks, I thought they done it because they're learning but I doubt it. edit: oh just checked, I didn't even know season 2 is out, didn't care and I read some of the books years ago.
That's what I'm really worried about, to be honest. That it's just good enough that anyone pointing out the bad parts comes across as whining, and you get an annoying flood of new 'fans' coming into the various communities and taking over all space.
That's I made my breakdown post for it after watching the whole season.
You do NOT want to attack this show for being woke, it's too flimsy a premise.
You should be concerned lore wise as, well I break it down in the post (too long to type again lol)
Did you watch the whole season or episode 1? I'll look for your post later
Whole season, I'm breaking it down now
video game TV adaptations are always trash. I do not concern myself with trash.
Forgot about it. Don't have Prime but I guess if I hear good things I'll take a sailing trip. The early promo stuff was full of red flags though
I watched Episode 1 and didn't mind it - lots of fan service. Loved all the little references. Holding judgement until I finish the series though.
If you don't mind being spoiled you can read my post.
It's not really woke at all but there will be a scene in episode 4 where you will go 'WTF' if you're into Fallout lore.
Does anyone know why they unceremoniously dumped it all early like this? Do they just have incredibly low confidence in it?
I don't know. I've heard some producers say they like weekly installments because it keeps audience's talking and theorizing around the proverbial water cooler. Some people drop them as binges because it's more like a cinematic experience like a long movie.
I've only dabbled in the Fallout games universe so I can't tell what is supposed to be canon. Show previews look pretty cool.
